Basic Basic Astrology—What is Saturn?
By amiann | Published: February 26, 2012 | Edit

Saturn cools what it touches. Think an ice cube. Think a cold shower. Think a spanking. This restriction. Think waiting and waiting. Think discipline. Think hard won maturity. These are all Saturn. Saturn is the planet which balances Jupiter. Jupiter is ease. Jupiter is a natural gift.Jupiter is an easy smile. Jupiter is confidence. Jupiter is living large.Saturn is hardship, as the old time Astrologers like to say. However, not everything can be couched in niceities. If so, where is reality ? Saturn is that which is harsh. Saturn is harsh wind, next to your face. What Saturn touches, he makes hard

What does your Saturn touch in a conjunction? This will tell you multitudes. I will put up some info. What Saturn touches, you will struggle with mightily to express. I have Echo there lol. I know someone with Eros and someone with Ceres. It seems one is wedded to always trying to express what Saturn touches as if one is obsessed.

Saturn Cools What It Touches But Does it Make it Obsessive, Also?
By amiann | Published: January 24, 2012 |

My laboratory is charts that I do. I have seen a certain pattern with Saturn touching a planet or an asteroid. The planet or asteroid cannot be accessed. The person may become obsessive trying to access it. I have seen it on a number of occasions, enough to write about it and to put it out there for comment. I have seen a man with Eros conjunct Saturn conjunct the ASC. It seems like he cannot get enough of Eros, and so he moves from woman to woman, in a desperate search to quench Eros. I have seen a mother with Ceres conjunct Saturn who wanted to nurture and tried to do so, but could not. I have seen someone with Echo conjunct Saturn and the ASC. She searched for her identity, relentlessly, as if on a quest for the Holy Grail. Please, comment if you have Saturn conjunct a planet or asteroid. Thank you!

Echo Asteroid Conjunct Saturn
By amiann | Published: January 11, 2012 |

Saturn cools what it touches. More specifically, Saturn makes anything that touches it struggle, mightily, for its identity. It is like a father with a stick over your head. You live at home under strong discipline and restrictions. You must work very hard and very persistently, to get out of your father’s house. This is Saturn. If Saturn is conjunct Echo, it may exacerbate depression. In my opinion, a strong Echo could produce depression, on it’s own. If you add Saturn to that, you have a more intensified Echo. Echo must work doubly hard to leave his father’s house. Saturn conjunct any planet or asteroid would work in the same way. In other words, Saturn will make anything it touches, work very hard for any self expression.

Saturn in the Signs
By amiann | Published: December 26, 2011 | Edit

Saturn cools what it touches. It makes it unreachable, except with considerable effort. As such, the sign in which your Saturn resides will be an energy which will be hard for you to access. This principle applies to the house, also. I will discuss that in another entry. Now I will address Saturn in the signs. Remember when Saturn is in the sign, it RESTRICTS the energy of the sign.

Saturn in Aries– Directness, standing up for what you believe, fighting for the underdog, bold speech and action may be hard for you

Saturn in Taurus– Being earth bound, centered on the earth, feel planted on the group and organized in practical ways may be hard for you

Saturn in Gemini–Being chatty in superficial situations, easily making jokes, being able to fit in in social situations and having an easy way of expressing yourself with the spoken and written word may be hard for you

Saturn in Cancer–Being vulnerable, showing your soft side, being nurturing, making a nest with family and friends may be hard

Saturn in Leo–Being the center of attention, tooting your own horn, being creative and being childlike may be hard

Saturn in Virgo–Being meticulous with details, paying attention to small things, being practical about bills, papers and organization may be hard for you

Saturn in Libra–Being able to see both sides of an issue, finding compromises with others and making your surroundings harmonious may be hard for you

Saturn in Scorpio–Being able to access your own primal passions and desires and trusting your deepest insights may be hard

Saturn in Sag—Being adventurous, optimistic, jovial, and direct in your speech may be hard for you

Saturn in Cap– Being a loyal, dedicated , stable friend may be hard for you, planning for the future and learning the ropes to find a respected position in society may be hard for you

Saturn in Aqua–Being a global thinker, helping others far away and caring about larger global issues may be hard for you

Saturn in Pisces—Being sensitive to psychic intuitions, being sensitive to other peoples feelings, and delving in to mystical and creative realms

basically Saturn shows us where we 'lack confidence' and have to work that bit harder.

Houses: angular houses 1/7 4/10 the energies of planets placed here are obvious cos it's your 'shop window' visible for everyone to see. Next the succeedent houses 2/8 & 5/11 the energies in these houses are not in shop window the are in the shop, but stood behind the counter, ready to come out when needed. Lastly, cadent houses 6/12 & 3/9 these houses/planets are not in shop window or stood behind the counter, they are in the back storeroom and only come out when 'triggered' or an emergency and much harder to recognise and access...

The houses are like the backdrop of a stage, the setting if you like, the planets are like actors and the aspects are how the planets behave in that settings/stage....So remember you may find it harder to identify with planets and Saturn in this case in Cadent houses….

"Saturn’s" influence seems to be more obvious in the houses than in the signs can rule the life with an iron rod, although invisible, by undermining the sense of ¬self worth and making it difficult for the individual to permit any close emotional contacts.

Saturn's sign indicates what you find uncomfortable and must learn to manage.
Where and how you feel a lack of confidence -- the house position of Saturn defines where
you need to establish your skills, an issue you worry about and wish you could depend on !

Lovely anecdote about Saturn from member mahaira on astrologyweekly.com,

quote:

There's an interesting thing I read somewhere, which I would never take as a rule as it oversimplifies matters - we can guess where someone's Saturn is placed, broadly speaking, by asking him/her "What do you want (or did want) but don't have?"

Takes 28 years to go around zodiac. Stays in each sign of approx 2.1/2 yrs
Keywords: Saturn = Structure, duty, limitation, restriction.

When Saturn and Uranus fall in the same sign or house we get caught in a cleft stick, wanting to make changes but fearing to let go of the old.

Saturn is the Lord of Karma and master teacher, but really he's trying to teach us about ourselves. It wants us to be responsible, hard working, dutiful and learn our Lessons properly, so they won't have to keep being repeated. Therefore, is usually suggests things slowing down, delays, limitations and restrictions so we can learn these Lessons.

What Saturn does is 'test' what is of value to you and what is working in your life. It wants structure and hard work. If something isn't working--- it may well end--- so something better can be put in it's place.

Now Neptune dissolves things, causes confusion, illusions and rose tinted glasses especially if in hard aspect to Angles or planets. It can be a spiritual, artistic awakening, but there are not many people who can advance or benefit their lives (unless there is natal potential of course) with Neptune. But having said this if you are 'supposed' to be Learning a Lesson in this life and Neptune draws a veil across your mind so you don't see things clearly enough to be objective--- then this pawn in chess has done it's job....

You have Saturn con the NN. The NN is your goal. What conjuncts it seems to be a life theme. Do you feel that you have gotten delays and restrictions for your whole life--whichever way you turn?

You know Saggi, I just got something on Neptune.I have neptune in the 1st House. It trines Sun and mercury in the 9th. I have felt that I had to struggle not to lose my mind.I know that sounds terrible but I was always afraid I would dissolve. I have an earth void too.

I have had to force myself to put invisible roots in to the ground. I have moon trine Saturn but it is 9 degrees so may not count or be weak. However, I think it is the feeling of Neptune dissolving. I can only imagine how hard the Neptune square mercury may be.

Hmm how to describe it...it mostly affects my relationships, sometimes friendships. I've read up on the aspect and it fits me. If u can remember what its like to b a teenager and get all googly eyed over someone, that's what I feel like sometimes. Only I don't always c things for how they really r. Almost like I c the illusion 1st. I don't mean to. Then at some point the rose colored glasses come off and I c the reality. I think its something I do tho. I tend to pick the worst partners lol in my past I've put up with way too much and I just give give give when I shouldn't. Not that much I get deceived a lot. But I'm trying to b smarter I swear I am! lol having venus sq neptune is like living in fairy tale land

I don't feel this is down to neptune Ami, I think it's your lack of earth planets BUT to compensate (which the chart usually does) you have 4planets in 'earth houses'
