When the planet moves forward by progression, these abilities and the past experience3s related to the retrograde planet are recapitulated and expressed openly.

The Sun and Moon never experience retrograde motion. All of the other planets have retrograde periods from time to time.

This is a poor period for signing contracts or launching new projects. Important decisions, signing contracts, or handling important negotiations should be held off until Mercury is direct and has passed the degree at which it went retrograde.

Retrograde Mercury will have a greater impact upon individuals ruled by this planet, or those engaged in such Mercurial professions as teaching, writing, lecturing, negotiating, communications media, medicine, or travel. During Mercury's stationary periods, there is usually a mulling over of important decisions and a gestation of new plans and ideas. The results of this are not immediately apparent, and may not become so until Mercury has passed the position in the Zodiac in its forward motion at the degree which it went retrograde.

Should Mercury make and important aspect to a natal planet during its stationary period, that aspect will have profound significance in the future development of the individual's plans. This significance will not be immediately apparent, however, because the effects of the retrograde and stationary period of Mercury are not fully realized until Mercury returns to direct motion and reaches the position in the Zodiac at which its retrograde motion began.

During the retrograde and stationary period, the individual can go into an introspective state to draw knowledge and guidance from the deeper levels of consciousness. The retrograde and stationary periods of Mercury make it possible to carefully consider, at leisure, all of the possible ramifications of actions and decisions. During these periods, many factors can come to light which enable the individual to make wiser choices or decisions in the long run. Retrograde periods of Mercury can be utilized to take cre of unfinished tasks and business affairs that were started while Mercury was direct in motion. The seemingly frustrating experience of retrograde and stationary periods can be a blessing in disguise.

When Mercury is direct in motion, communication, travel, decisions, and business affairs proceed rapidly. The individual can proceed with confidence in planning new activities and endeavors."

A planet that is stationary at birth is a planet that is neither direct nor retrograde in Zodiacal motion as viewed from Earth. It is either changing motion from direct to retrograde motion, or from retrograde to direct motion.

There are two types of stationary planets. The first occurs when a planet that has been direct is about to turn retrograde. movement in the affairs of life ruled by this planet slows down in preparation for an introspective phase of experience. The second occurs when a planet that has been retrograde is about to go direct. The individual, who has been in a introspective phase regarding the affairs ruled by this planet, is preparing to move out into new experience.

If a planet is stationary in a natal horoscope, its effects are felt in a constant and unchanging way, unlike those of a moving planet. A stationary planet focuses its energy in one spot and in one way and thus produces an indelible impression on the individual. Until this stationary planet becomes direct or retrograde by progression, the influence is stamped on the individual's consciousness.

Could you explain why asteroids in one half of the chart, the one that seems to be opposite the most populated part, are all retrograde. I have Sun in Scorpio, and most of planets in houses 1 to 4. Asteroids which fall in 8, 9 10, and 11 are retrograde.
