Hello,Can someone explain to me how house positions work? I know that for example Aries ruling house is house 1. But in my birth chart, Aquarius is in house 1. What would this mean? All my planets in house 1 would give Uranus/Saturn influence (I don't feel Uranian.. more Saturnian... reserved, slow etc) And I know Taurus rules the second house, but I have Aries in house 2, which might explain my impulse with finances. I don't have any planets in house 2. House 3 - Taurus House 4 - Gemini House 5 - Gemini House 6 - Cancer House 7 - Leo House 8 - Libra House 9 - Scorpio House 10 - Sagittarius House 11 - Sagittarius House 12 - Capricorn What does this indicate? I have Capricorn in Pisces house.. would that mean any planets that fall in house 12 would me more of a Capricorn energy? Does that mean all my house 1 placements are more Aquarian? IP: Logged |

This is how I think about it:My 9th house cusp is in Aquarius. I approach 9th house things in an Aquarian way. My Sun and Mercury are in Aqua in my 9th. Sagittarius is the natural ruler of the 9th. So my Aqua Sun and Mercury get a Sagittarius flavoring as well. IP: Logged |

Sounds like a good Lesson for the new school when it opens here.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

planets in houses http://www.horoscopeswithin.com/planetsinhouses.php Houses/signs are like the backdrop of a stage/theatre, planets in houses behave like actors on a stage, the *aspects* show how these planets/actor behave in a houseHouses: angular houses 1/7 4/10 the energies of planets placed here are obvious cos it's your 'shop window' visible for everyone to see. Next the succeedent houses 2/8 & 5/11 the energies in these houses are not in shop window the are in the shop, but stood behind the counter, ready to come out when needed. Lastly, cadent houses 6/12 & 3/9 these houses/planets are not in shop window or stood behind the counter, they are in the back storeroom and only come out when 'triggered' or an emergency and much harder to recognise and access... The houses are like the backdrop of a stage, the setting if you like, the planets are like actors and the aspects are how the planets behave in that settings/stage.... “The angles of the chart are the strongest, most potent sectors. In most house systems these mark the beginnings of the first, tenth, seventh and fourth houses, in order of potency. Any planet in conjunction with an angle will have a marked influence that resonates throughout the chart and greatly colours its overall meaning. Planets located in the angles of the chart are the strongest and most significant. Because of their primary importance, the angles are often referred to as the cardinal points and they relate directly to the cardinal directions east, south, west and north.” http://www.astrologycom.com/houses.html AND of course it ALL depends on what house system you use... I use Equal House system (where each cusp is same as Ascendant) and am a modern astrologer. Lots of newcomers come into Astrology/forums and get a free chart from astro and the default ‘house system’ used is Placidus and think that’s just the norm and all there is……..BUT that is just the tip of the iceberg. You can change the default on astro.com in Extended Chart selection to Equal house and a few others if you wish to experiment….. Within the mainstream are placidus/equal houses (the default on astro is placidus) only difference being some planets may move from one house to another thereby altering it's interpretation and it's 'only' with research will you find which /planets 'fit you' in which houses. So my advice, do two charts, research any planets that move houses and see which you identity with - simple Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAwGtMWl4z4

sounds like you are simply using the default house system on astro.com of placidus and have 'intercepted houses' Now this simply cannot happen in Equal house system..... “The Equal House System avoids the problem with the Placidus which results in extremely uneven houses if the native should be born in extreme northern or southern latitudes. Each sign is fully represented on a house cusp. Debbie Kempton Smith the author of Secrets from an StarGazer's Notebook recommends either Equal House or Koch (unequal). Margaret Hone puts forth an excellent argument in favor of Equal House in her book, "Applied Astrology" which is why it is the default for SkyViewZone. Jeff Mayo and the Faculty for Astrological Studies also favors this house system.” http://www.solsticepoint.com/astrologersmemorial/hone.html http://www.astrolozy.com/article19.asp http://www.aquamoonlight.co.uk/systems.html http://www.skyviewzone.com/birthinfoforms2/housesexplained.htm http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=Z0nnE2IP7A4C&pg=PA167&dq=astrology+equal+house&as_brr=3&ei=i0iJS-PlGo3mygS89Nn8DQ&cd=2#v=onepage&q=astrology%20equal%20house&f=false EQUAL HOUSES “Another of the three most popular house systems is Equal houses which is just what its name implies. All the houses have the same degree on each cusp, and there are no interceptions. Equal house systems are especially useful for people born in the northernmost and southernmost latitudes, and this system is the most popular one in use outside of the United States.” http://www.esotericapublications.com/article-511.html “Equal house system is the only system that is erected in the plane of the Earths orbit. The zodiac is erected in the plane of the Earths orbit around the Sun which comprises of a 360 degree circle that surrounds the Earth. The mid-heaven is often more, or less than ninety degrees (three signs) from the ascendant, therefore it is not often placed on the tenth house cusp, but marked where it appears in the mid-heaven according to the latitude and longitude of birth. The mid-heaven is taken as an important point; it is the point of self-mastery.” http://marianneohagan.com/house.htm “The simplest approaches, the equal-house and whole-sign methods, merely require knowledge of the ascendant or ascending sign, and an equal division throughout the rest of the zodiac eliminates the need for any complicated calculations Yet recent research into classical astrology has created a renewed interest in these simple techniques from a more scholarly perspective. The point of strength is that, regardless of the originating theory behind house division, in practice at least, classical astrologers tended to tie the houses to the signs, apparently concurring with Pelletier, who wrote in defence of the equal house method” http://www.skyscript.co.uk/houprob4.html
Equal House System “The equal house system calculates the degree of the Ascendant, which is used as the cusp of the first house. Some astrologers do not like this system because it does not equate the 10th house cusp with the Midheaven (which indicates the degree that is highest in the sky above the horizon at the place of birth). However, the Midheaven can certaintly still be noted in this house system as well as any planet forming an aspect to that angle.” http://www.astrolady.com/housesystems.php IP: Logged | |
