As the planets are constantly transiting the zodiac, they are often found in signs that they do not rule. In some signs a planet may be quite powerful while in others it will be weak or debilitated. It is necessary to understand the dignities of planets in order to determine the strength of a ruling planet in a chart. The home or ruling planet is the strongest position for a planet. The sign of its exaltation is next in power, but when in the sign of its detriment it becomes weak and in the sign of its fall the planet is weakest and most undesirably located.

A planet's fall is the sign opposite its exaltation

Planet.........Exaltation........Fall
sun............Aries.............Libra
moon...........Taures............Scorpio
N.Node.........Gemini............Sagitarius
Jupiter........Cancer............Capricorn
Neptune........Leo...............Aquarius
Mercury........Virgo.............Pisces
Saturn.........Libra.............Aries
Uranus.........Scorpio...........Taures
Mars...........Capricorn.........Cancer
Pluto/Venus....Pisces............Virgo

hey , this is ankoor after a long long time...

just goin thru exaltation topic
i find i got 2 planets in Exaltation,

Saturn in libra in 9th house(along with jupiter , mercury and pluto )
Uranus in Scorpio in 10th house (along with Sun)

i suppose saturn gives me lot of determination and patience and perseverence and also it's the ruler of my ascendant therefore i'm more capri like , with uranus and sun conjuct in scorpio , i guess that makes me a person who can weather all sorts of situations with grit and determination

what i would like to know is wht is the effect of Uranus in Exaltation...

tell me if what i wrote was right, and please correct me......

This is another one you must learn untill it becomes like second nature.

This also holds true for house placements (planets in their house of exaltation, like Sun in the 1st)

Anks
Sorry I didn't get to this sooner. With the ruler of your Asc. in the house of its exaltation, (and on an Angle) Sucess will be yours through hard work.
Uranus conjunct Sun in Scorpio makes your sun sign like an Aquarius. Now I don't mean you'll change into one but you'll be a progressive thinker and one who contemplates what will be in the future. You can imagine it, or through logic can see whats coming.

List your exalted planets, or planets that are exalted by house. I'll start
Sun in Aries
Moon in Taures
Uranus in the 8th

Planets in their fall
Saturn in the 1st

lets keep this going

Is Mars in Detriment because itīs in the 7th house? What about Mercury being in the 9th house?

astromis, mercury is home in the 6th (Virgo)
Mars is co-ruled by Scorpio (8th house)
both strong placements

Nackie, Sarutn is in its detriment in Cancer

Steelrose, mercury in the 9th and Mars in the 7th, yes detriment.

I guess Mercury in the 9th (detriment) kind of compensate because itīs in Virgo (home)...

But what about my poor Mars? In Detriment being in the 7th and in Fall being in Cancer... What does it mean? I thought it was very well placed being in conjunction with a strong Jupiter, my chart ruler, in Exaltation in Cancer and in Mutual Reception with the Moon...

Iīve always been very energetic, always chasing after new challenges... Everybody says that Iīm very ambitious... I usually get what I want if Iīm enthusiastic about it (Jupiter I guess), I fight for things naturally... Isnīt it that a sign of a strong and well placed Mars?

Cat the sun is in its fall in Libra yes, but its also home in that house (5).

the reason the sun is in its fall and detriment in Libra and Aquarius is because they are such mental signs. The Sun is hot and the giver of life not mental and somewhat detatched

steelrose, same thing sweetie bad house good sign. when a planet is posited in a house its not compatible with it focuses on that area. for you in the 9th. It make no sense to me why mercury would be in detriment in the 9th house, this being the house of higher education or college. Maybe because it also covers religion. Jupiter which is home here has faith which goes directly against Mercury which studies.

another thing to remember about mercury is its neither positive or negative. Feminine or Masculine. It is intirely colored by the sign, house, and aspects it makes.

Your Mars in Cancer and in the 7th thats kind of a double negative (7th and Cancer) but its helped out or made positive by the conjunction with Jupiter. Mars in the 7th (I have this placement) is somewhat combative, for me its verbally (Gemini) for you protective, thats a keyword with Cancer everything is personal whether with themselves or their loved ones.

hi LLL...
WHAT BOUT MY POOR MOON?its in capricorn(detriment) and in house 3..i dont think house 3(natural house of gemini)is all that thrilled and i dont see it compensating..n i dont have any conjunctions to the moon..that should probably mean that moon loses its energies...if that happens does it mean moon wont affect me as much as it should and does it mean it will lose out its impact??
i ve been curious bout my moon always...i cant figure out how it fits...

you make me feel better, LS....

LaLa, BTW, I did decide to go with equal houses, which does change my chart signifcantly, but it fits me better.

All I can see is
Sun - exhaltation in Aries
Moon - exhaltation in 2nd house
