Hello Everybody.. Though this is my first post in this discussion thread in months, I have been following closely the topics and gaining a lot of knowledge on horoscope analysis. Greg's Chapter II on natal chart elements was quite insightful and I felt it deserved a special mention here! I had a few queries that you might be able to help me out with. In my natal chart, the Sun and the Moon both conjunct in Aries, while the ascendant is in Scorpio. People generally take me to be a Piscean, though! (Pisces has been the first guess in more than one occasion!) I tend to be a bit reserved and quiet on the outside. Though I do not have a single planet in Pisces, Neptune has a strong influence in that it trines the Sun, the Moon, Mercury and Midheaven. Could this be the reason? Also, is the chart ruler Pluto in my case? And, what is the significance of being the chart ruler? I am sure the ruler is something more than just a figurehead here. Thanx in advance for your inputs! Cheers, RaviIP: Logged |

Hi Ravish,A strongly aspected Neptune like yours, especially combined with a water ascendant, can certainly affect the energies you project, and the physical appearance people see. Do you have Neptune in aspect (minor or major) with your Ascendant at all? Whether you do or not, probably your reserved Scorpio rising fits in with all that Neptunian/Piscean dreamy wateriness, to create an image like a waterfall in front of a blazing fire! Water Sun signs and Water element Ascendants often identify themselves by just a little bit of fleshiness in the overall appearance... the body may be perfectly fit, but the skin and flesh may seem just a tad puffy, giving an overall softening effect to the person's physique. I've heard many water signs say they just can't "seem" to lose that final pound, or five pounds, when really it has to do with all the water prominent in their chart! I knew another Aries (male) with Neptune smack on his Ascendant, and his dreamy eyes, abundant hair, and slight fleshiness and pleasant speaking voice all contributed to a Piscean-ish quality, but once his Moon & Venus in Gemini plus Mars in Aries started talking, that illusion of a dreamy Piscean disappeared in a flash of flame! cheers, Lunargirl IP: Logged |

thanx for your post, lunargirl! it was really useful, and i should say, quite right! especially, there are cases people say that, "oh, and i thought you were the 'silent' 'soft' type!" cheers, ravi

So if you have Neptune on your Scorpio ascendant in Sagittarius and Venus in Cancer plus your Moon in Pisces...even if you are a Virgo Sun conjuct Mars ...you'd be a very 'watery' individual?IP: Logged |

Ravi,Where is the planet Mars in your chart? Mars rules Aries and also co-rules Scorpio (it was the only ruler before Pluto was discovered). Quiet and reserved could very well be Scorpio rising. They have the persona of being in control. They do not want people to know their innermost self. They play their cards close to their chest so to speak. Maria IP: Logged |

hi zenria.. my mars transits cancer. isn't that supposed to mean that i carry my moodiness to extremes? this does happen to me - depression and elation go to extremes at times! also, i think the well-aspected neptune heightens the sensitivity aspect. cheers, ravishIP: Logged |

hi brunnhilde, i am a little unsure about how the Neptune in Sagittarius would contribute to wateriness. Once again it depends to specific positions of Neptune in Sagittarius (degrees) and the ascendant in scorpio. If the Neptune is somewhere in the first few degrees of Sagi and you have a third Scorpio decan in the ascendant (from 20 to 30 degrees), then we have a Neptune conjunct ascendant contributing to the 'wateriness'! about the others, i guess you are right about the pisces moon and cancer venus contributing to the incresed moisture content!! Hi Brunnhilde,Your chart sounds pretty watery to me, but that doesn't mean that the water is going to behave in a watery way! If your water placements are not in angular houses, and if your chart has other important formations (stellium, t-square, etc.) involving different elements and house cusps, for example, then maybe water manifests as a secondary influence in your life and personality. Plus, where water and fire merge, the resulting energies are going to behave differently than the classic descriptions of how they act individually. Oh well, I think I'm getting a little too basic here, just wanted to caution you that a dominant element may act in a less than dominant way in a chart. Bet you have lots of watery intuition, however. Hey Ravi, I have a very strongly aspected CancerMoon, and since the eyes tend to reflect the Moon in physical astrology -- people see my watery emotional eyes, and only notice the red glints in my hair and Aries jawline later!! Oh well I'm used to it now -- they act surprised the first time I get "fired up", but then they see me for who I am. cheers All, Lunargirl

Ravi,With Scorpio rising, Sun in Aries, Moon in Pisces and the ruler of Aries and co ruler of Scorpio (Mars) in Cancer (thereby influencing your Sun), I can understand why people say you have water sign personality traits. What you describe sounds more Scorpion than Pisces. Scorpio rising would seem self possessed, quiet and in control. You obviously have strong emotions with Mars in Cancer. Pisces Moon makes you very empathic of the needs of others, perhaps sacrificing your own needs at times to be there for others. Does any of this sound right? Maria IP: Logged |

Yes, Zenria. The part about the interpretation of the Moon in Pisces where making one empathetic to other's needs is bang on target! But, my moon is very much in Aries. And there is not a single planet in Pisces. Guess this is where we would need to consider the whole picture of placements and aspects of other planets, what do you say? cheers, RaviIP: Logged |

Ravi,I can only guess that your Moon in Aries takes much influence from your Mars in Cancer. Is your Sun or Moon square your Mars? Empathy/Sacrifice for everyone and everything is Pisces. Empathy/Sacrifice for those important to you or those of your family is more Cancer. Deep understanding is Scorpio. But in the end, you are right. One must look at the whole picture, your birth chart, your statement of intention when you were born, to put it all together! Maria IP: Logged |

Thank you for all the input but I'm not the one in question ....I just wanted to get an insight on how these placemtns affect their personality which is really a very confusing one to me...so I'm not Virgo etc.etc. I'm Pisces sun,Aquarius moon and Scorp asc. with Jupiter conjuct hte ascendant in Sag...and my chart is all over the place! Not eh virgo is a man I can't seem to get a grip on ...meaning pinpoint personality wise.I was wondering how all that waater affected him....oh and his moon in pisces aspects his Mars,Venus ,Mercury,Neptune and Saturn. His date of birht is 25th August,1972 Montreal, Quebec around 2p.m. So if you have any other insights ...I'd like to hear what you see. Thank you!IP: Logged | |
