Sun Through the Houses

1st House

This placement of the sun will give you a strong identification with your sun sign. You will have a lot of energy and strong leadership skills. You are confident and self-assured. You may be more assertive and have a stronger sense of leadership than what is traditionally associated with your sun sign. This placement makes you a “sunny” person. You are optimistic and determined and will always see the best in any situation. You have an incredible ability to overcome adversity and have a lot of physical energy. You are spontaneous and outgoing and will stick by your ideas and beliefs. You will not be influenced by the opinions of others. You feel important and this will show in your attitude to life.

2nd House

With this placement your focus in life centers on material comforts and security. Money and wealth are important to you. You have a need to be financially independent and you have a lot of ambition to become successful. You are not a collector though and you like to spend the money you earn. You do not have a lot of self control regarding your spending habits and you might even be spending when you do not really have the resources to do so. You are very giving and will easily give to others. This makes you very popular and appealing. Although you feel you need money and success to feel secure, this placement of the sun in your chart should provide you with the ability to be able to make money.

3rd House

You enjoy mental challenges and freedom of the mind. You will most probably be interested in a wide variety of subjects, devoting time to the study of many different things. It is not impossible that you might be an eternal student. You also enjoy traveling and this expands your knowledge. You are a keen communicator enjoying conversations on a variety of subjects. You have the knack of just knowing what to say. You have a strong need to express yourself properly and can become frustrated when misunderstood. Because of your strong mental abilities you may develop some arrogance about it. Be wary of looking down on others who do not possess your swiftness of mind. You are essentially an analyst and any position where you need to apply this ability will suit you.

4th House

You are very focused on your home life and family. Security of an emotional nature in your home environment is very important to you. Family and traditions are part of your life. Where you come from and your roots are important because it gives you a strong foundation in life. Your early years and family background has a strong influence on your life now. You do feel that is has shaped you in some way and made you into what you are today, be this positive or negative. You are very proud of your heritage though. Although there might have been some troubles in the early years, this placement is very favourable to achieving success in later life.

5th House

This placement makes you very confident. You enjoy performing and being noticed. Creativity in your life is very important. Being taken note of and being appreciated is very important to you. You always try to look your best as it is important to you what others think of you. The sun is very happy here and it gives you an optimistic, friendly and outgoing nature, which makes you very popular with your friends, and people you meet. Children are often also important in your life. You spend a lot of time looking after them and caring for them. This could be your own children or just children in general. You like taking risks and gambling might be something that you sometimes indulge in.

6th House

You are a hard worker and giving service is important to you. You will most probably succeed, as you are very dedicated and meticulous. As a boss you can be very demanding though. As an employee you can be too dogmatic always trying to enforce the rules and standing up for your rights and the rights of your co-workers. You should do well in a position requiring administrative abilities or something that is very specialized. This placement also makes you interested in health matters. It might even lead to a career where health is involved. You generally have an interest in anything to do with health, physical fitness and nutrition.

7th House

Relationships are central to your personality with this placement. This could be business or romantic partners. You probably are not someone to start things on your own, as you prefer to work with others on a project. You are able to strike a good balance in your life regarding most things though. You are also very good at talking to others and bringing your point of view across. At the same time you also have the ability to understand their points of view. This could therefore indicate a career in sales or marketing as you enjoy exploring relationships. You do not like to work on your own. Your romantic partner is also very important in your life. You need these relationships to feel complete.

8th House

This placement gives you a deeper understanding of life. You have a strong sense of social values and you are often involved with other people’s money and possessions. You are intuitive of the values and feelings of people around you. This makes you very sensitive to them and you feel a sense of responsibility towards them because of this. You like to get to the root cause of things so investigations of any kind are attractive to you. You might enjoy working in an environment where there is money involved, but not your own. Fields such as banking and investments as well as something like pensions, which involve social responsibility, could be where you will find yourself.

9th House

Exploration of the physical and the non-physical is typical of this placement. You like to travel, most probably long distances but you also like to investigate matters relating to the mind and spirit. You are usually very interested in philosophy and religion. Your ideas tend to be quite “out there” though and you may have difficulty relating to the physical limitations and reality. You often feel that you have gained new insight about some philosophical matters. Because you are generally an extrovert you like to broadcast your ideas to the world. You are essentially an idealist but this gives you the need to explore and gain understanding. You are quite intuitive as well and this will assist you on your path of discovery.

10th House

You are predisposed to a public life. It is not often that someone with this placement remains out of the public eye. You can be famous or infamous but you will definitely be noticed. Generally though you strive for a good public standing and honour. You strive in life to build a good reputation for yourself and this is an inspiration to others. You might have success in public fields such as politics. Respect and authority are things, which you need in life to feel that you have achieved your goal. Goals are something you have a lot of and your sense of responsibility and determination will usually put these within your reach. Others may refer to you as noble as the sense of authority and respect you inspire seems very natural to you.

11th House

This placement focuses your energy on the group objective. You are not a one man (woman) show. You need your friends and associates to achieve your goals in life. Your goals centre on society and humanity. You have a need to be recognized for your mental ability within your group. It is more important to you to be popular than to be powerful. You might strive to become a group leader and working for the greater good of society. You are very open-minded and liberal and your ideas are not based on what is the norm in society. You could bring about social change and improvement. This is not for your own gain bur for the betterment of the whole. You always operate in a group context though and do not like to do things on your own.

12th House

You are a loner and you prefer this to being in a large group. You operate behind the scenes and you do not like to be in the spotlight. You like solitude in which you can think about life. Interest in psychology and the paranormal is common with this placement. Generally you prefer to be left to your own devices, as you do not like to interact with groups. You get your reward from being of service and being appreciated by others. In life you try to gain understanding of the things that are hidden. That’s why psychology might have an attraction for you. Getting into the mind of a person and understanding their subconscious motivations is what intrigues you. This is also why you are attracted to the paranormal. It is the hidden, obscure nature of the non-physical world, which might drive you to investigate it further.

5th House Sun here
(**** -a-doodle-doo!)

Note & Question:
My 5th House Sun seems to be supported by my Leonine NN, MC, and Mars -
it makes sense to me that such would be a common phenomenon in natal charts - do those of you that look at a lot of charts see similar patterns?
__________

Ack - I realize the necessity of the language filter, but it's a little annoying.
I cannot, for instance, write
"summa *** laude"
without it being mangled, nor, I imagine, can I write cockswaine.
And the noise that a rooster makes is apparently off limits, too.

Edit: Oh, no, "cockswaine" works. The question, then, is, what if I just tack on a cuss word to the word immediately preceding or following it?

Sun at14,5 degrees Pisces in the 3rd house but the 4th house cusp is 15degrees Pisces so that would be sun in the 4th? which fits....family motto that I was brought up with....'Family before all else'.

4th house sun here. Although it says I'm quite attached to home, I think it's very much diluted due to the fact that I've got a gemini rising and a sag moon (which, if i remember, are both travel bugs). Honestly, I'm a bit distant with my family and I usually don't tell them stuff I tell my friends. I'm usually cooped up in this computer or some other place with friends. Well, if you consider the phrase "home is where the heart lies" I guess I've found a new family in a chatroom that I occasionally meet the chatters in real life. The closeness of the people there was reflected that many of them started calling each other big bro, lil sis, dad, mom, grandma, etc. (and I often get have a good laugh at the weird circles family ties get. lol... how can three moms claim one child? Or how can a mom's child be the uncle of the mom's grandpa? ) Still, for some strange reason I'm still keeping a little distance. I mean, yeah, some people there call me "big bro", but in terms of "relation", I think nobody had ever gone past kuya (big bro in my native language).

But yeah, I'm still attached to my home and all that. I don't like going out too much if I can help it (if people here leave me alone, I'm quite happy), and I'd rather invite my friends over rather than them inviting me. As for tradition... well, if I find the logic in it or it's not too big a task, why not? But usually, I try not to think about them.

My Sun falls in my 8th natal House. I have never had anything to do with others money.
I am really interested in reincarnation however, which is usually associated with the 8th house.

Brunnhilde, in traditional astrology, your Sun would be considered in the 4th house. Anything within 4-5 degrees of a house cusp moves to the next house. This probably has something to do with having the EXACT time of birth. In your case, your Sun is soooo close to the 4th house cusp I would look at it as being in the 4th house. Hope this helps.

Randall: I'm another 5th house Sun (using Placidus cusps)!

Hey Hey Hey..another 5th house sun here.
We seem to be a majority so far..

I think my sun's position there probably bolsters my Leo AC. Also, my Sun, being in Sagittarius, is in mutual reception with Jupiter in Leo in the first house, closely conjoined the AC, further adding to Leonine traits, perhaps? Oh and the Sun and Jupiter are trined to boot!

It's so ironic because before I knew a whole lot about astrology, after my first long term relationship with this Leo fellow went horribly sour, I was really bitter and I didn't like the sign of Leo very much because the arrogance of this ex was sooo out of control.. Imagine my surprise as I began to investigate astrology, when I found out my AC was Leo! I was flabbergasted. I see it now as a crucial lession in shadow selves and of course became quite fond of the more positive traits of Leo.

Hiya StarLover33 ...I have Sun in 10 and yes the description above is very accurate!!! I have three planets in 10 actually, being Mercury and Mars as well! I am not so much bothered by the idea of having a good career because of status or money, though I have many, many ideals all the time and want them done by the end of the year. So I do have a lot of goals mostly psychologicall ones set for myself and am very determined to make them my own. I also have lots of willpower to make what I want happen, nobody stands in my way! But my Mercury conjunction MC in Gemini makes it all little wishy washy, carefree, changable and such! Wow...sorry I am wandering off here. But yes, I am in the spotlight most of the time, also just because it happens automatically. I like it but also can't help it.

Laters...

Star - I don't, but I knew a guy w/ both his Sun and Moon in the 10th; he was more than a bit concerned with his career image and perhaps more conservative than his placements would've otherwise suggested.
Wish I could tell you more

StarLover,

my b/f has the Sun in the 10th. Veeeery ambitious. Even as a child. He has this extremely strong drive to achieve success in what he does. And it seems that whatever he does, he somehow gets attention (public or other). Currently we do the same part-time job, but he got noticed right away while I, who had been doing that for some years before him, still have not. That's the 10th house for ya

My Sun is in the 11th. Anyone else?

I got Sun in the 2nd house, and I don't care particularly lot about money and wealth...I believe this placement also has a lot to do about using your own ressources (in opposition to getting help from others). The self-made person. I feel every thing I have I've got by my own means, and also that my identity is created by myself, it's doesn't come from my family or anyone else. My home is my castle, though, definatly. And life without a garden is an empty life!

Stellaaaaaaaaa,

You have the Sun in the 2nd house and a Taurus Moon? And you don't care about money? I'm guessing that you have creature comforts, even though they are not your top priority.

Taurus and 2nd house indicate a sense of building your own worth (be it in material ways or self worth). Taurus and 2nd house do NOT mean money grubbing. You work hard for everything you get. And you are right, you get it yourself. You do for yourself and your family. You're not afraid of hard work, but you do it for stability and to make your life comfortable. YOu DESERVE what you have because you worked for it! Does that make sense to you? And the garden is just because you love to look at and make beauty

Beaaaautifuuul Maaaaria, of my soul! (I'm doing Antonio Banderas in Mambo Kings!) Bthw, I absolutly love the way Marlon Brando shouts Stella and I'd love him to do it down in my yard...
I was thinking about this last night..Not only do I have Taurus Moon, but my second house Sun is in Virgo, and also Pluto the plutokrate is cusping my second house, so I should really be obsessed with making money... I'm 40, and it's only the past few years that my life has any resemblance of something stable. (Can this also be indicated by fourth house cusp in Scorpio?). I've really never had money in my mind when I make choices, on the opposite - I dropped a great, well-paid career to move abroad with "nothing" but a suitcase, I practically gave away a flat in Paris because I was leaving the city, etc. etc...I'm writing this on an old-fashion slow computer with an analog internet connection, my tv is almost 30 years old and I say a prayer every time I get into our car, hoping it won't break down..I think maybe this "over-focus" or whatever one shall call it, on the Taurus/second house/earth materialism combined with a Aries MC has made me "obsessed" with creating my own set of values, so to say...Though I'd absolutly love loads of money, it's been more important to make them - and spend them - my way.
Another thing I was thinking about is, how the the chart also show what you need. It's probably very good for me to have stability - I've longed for a stable home all my life. And maybe this security and earth materialsm is necessary before I can develop other sides of my self.

Stellaaaaaaaaa,

What an amazing person you are! So brave. You are right about Pluto on 2nd house cusp. Pluto does mean obsession but you could be obsessed about making it YOUR WAY (Remember the Frank Sinatra song? What a great song for a Sag Sun huh?)
Wherever Pluto lands in our chart seems to keep us in a bit of upheaval huh? Your Virgo Sun could also be very service oriented.

I'm a bit confused from your posting because you say you have Aries on the MC but Scorpio on the IC or 4th house cusp. Is your MC in a different sign than your 10th house cusp? Rob Hand says some interesting things about having your MC in a different house than your 10th.

Your comment on the chart showing what you need is right on. You have set your life's drama up. It is shown by the natal chart. Stability can be suffocating (ask those with lots of fixed signs) but it also can be freeing. It's all in your mental outlook I think

When you don't have to worry about things like housing, cars, computers, you are free to worry about other things (see my Cancer Moon showing), or concentrate on other things.

Your chart is your blueprint, your roadmap. It sounds like you are doing a good job of reading it, Stella!

Beautiful Maria! Thanks for your inputs. I use equal house system and since I'm born close to the north pole, under the stella polaris, my MC actually falls into my 8th house. So what does Rob Hand say?
I'm learning so much from the discussions here. Like you mentioned somewhere, all the influences in a chart are so weaved into eachother that it's difficult to separate them. When you you read a "normal" astrology book you get all the pieces, but I feel that here through the discussions you really learn how to put them together. (I'd be here more often if it didn't take me a hundred years to download the long discussions with all those smileys and other icons you guys enjoy!). Big THANKS to you and Moonshadow and Cat and everyone else involved.
