Hi to all

I'm Leo sun sign-sun
Aquarius rising- air
Taurus moon- earth

But, according to astro.com , I have:
22% fire
26% earth
26% air
26% water

The problem it's just that I don't feel the earth element at me

Sorry, but I must ask as you all seem way ahead of me.
I was under the illusion being born a TAUREAN, that I was an EARTH Element. Am I to understand now, that I must look at where ALL the planets are to see what other Elements pertain to me, for/in my basic make-up?
thanks, Imajre.

Hi Terri - just joined the class. You are doing a fabulous job !

I am a Capricorn girl - and not at all a typical one (Terri - if you wanna check out my cosmic cocktail 1:49:00 MET, 12-28-68, Neustadt/ Waldnaab/ Germany, 12°11' o, 49°44' n).

My Sun only takes over when I organise my interviews for the show, when I clean up the house or in my pragmatic approach to chaotic situations where everybody else goes mad. Though, I used to be more Cap-like wise and worried when I was a child. So true what Linda wrote about us, at least I can feel it. The older I get the more child-like I become. My flat-mate who is a very active Aquarius girl is always amazed where I do get this boosts of energy and optimism from. So completely not-Earth! Rather loads of Air, that's maybe why I feel so happy in my job in TV.

Friends/Lovers: used to attract many Scorpios and Leos ... tiring business - phew, must have changed in some way. Now it's all Aquarius and Libra. Other Caps have always, and will always be my best longterm mates - but never lovers . Curiously, never met what astrology describes as "best match" for Cap girls: a Taurus man. Though among my girl-friends there are some Taurus girls, but tend to get bored a bit with them after some time of communication and need distance.

Cat, how do you feel the only water planet is affecting you? Bissie pointed out in another discussion that my Leo asc would act bigger than normal because it's my only placement in fire, I believe that's true...
As for lack of elements: My dear His Royal Lion husband completly lacks earth, but gets plenty from me. I lack fire, but get plenty from him..I guess you can say we need eachother...
My dad lacks air, but has plenty of water. He is now in his 4th longterm relationship, but that seems to be going down the hill, too. Lack of ability to communicate, maybe? Relaying too much on his feelings? I can add that three of his partners have been air sign, so his obviously trying to get what he needs...
Terri, I was wondering about this sleep thing..ok, fire signs might burn themselves out and not taking the rest they need. But some people really seem to need very little sleep, my husband, my brother and my dad all seems to be fine with four or five hours a night and an additional small nap in the afternoon. They all have fire in their chart, but not that much. I read somewhere that Naked Chef Jamie sleeps only four-five hours a night. Anyone knows his sign? And Aristotle Onanasis, he was Capricorn, with Scorpio rising, I think.

I'm a fire sign - Leo. Definitely optimistic.
My dad's an air sign, my ma's fire and I get on really well with them both. My brother's fire as well, but I find that I unknowingly hurt his feelings a lot with his Pisces ascendent and Merc in Scorp. (I have moon in Aquarius.)
I get on well with all the elements as far as I can see, but when it comes to relationships, I like mysterious, dignified men. Scorps!! But I also find the secrecy and unwillingness to communicate and share emotionally more than I can handle. I don't like to have to guess what's in your mind all the time. Especially since I'm usually WAY off! A little mystery's nice, but let's not go overboard ha?
I have Uranus in Scorpio - that's all the water I have. (My midheaven is Cancer but that doesn't really count, does it?)

NONE at all Randall? My goodness--where do you get your energy from??

PurpleFlame, we're in the same decanate of Sag. My moon is in Cancer, so I guess I'm subconsciously drawing those people to me to meet my emotional needs. I say go for the Leo sun/Aries north node guy! I'm purusing a Leo sun/many-planets-in-Libra guy myself right now!

Imajre, I took this from Terri's post...
I don't know if this will answer your question???

Air + fire, water + earth are considered good pairings of the elements too. That can be either in your combatibility with others, or even in your own natal chart, to see how combatible you are with yourself! (i.e. If your Ascendent is Aries and your Sun is Gemini than your outward and inner selves are in a harmonious balance. Compared to a Libra Sun, and a Pisces Ascendent, which might cause you to feel that people's perceptions of you (the Ascendent) are not at all like your real self (the Sun)
If not I think Terri can answer it.

Yes, we look at the whole chart in regard to the Elements. It is possible that the Sun is the only Earth in the chart.

Hi Stella
How do you feel that your lack of fire personally affects you?

You asked me how my water shortage affects me.
Well that's kind of interesting as "a standard opinion" may be than I am not an emotional person as water = emotions. So it could be a "logical" conclusion that lack of water = lack of emotions. However I would certainly in my case say that's not true. Again I do think the whole chart needs to be looked at.
In my case I have 4 planets in my 12th house. Now the 12th house can (and certainly for me does) absorb everything around you - especially feelings/atmospheres etc. This is why people with strong 12th house placements need a certain amount of time alone because when with other people they just absorb everything.

If I "analyse" it purely from the lack of water situation....here's a little story for you

My own Planets in Water
The only planet I have in water in my chart is Uranus. I have found that as I get older I try to “analyse” what I’m feeling more and more and have definately become more and more sensitive...hmm well now I think about it...actually I have always been extremely sensitive but now I am no longer "afraid" to show that sensitivity. I do actively try not to upset people and to understand how they are feeling. However I do find people with a lot of water in their charts to be too intense for me – almost to the point that I feel suffocated. I then feel the need to remove myself from that situation as they “drown” me.
I do really like to be near water (in nature) as I find it relaxes me even though I can’t swim and am actually frightened of water. So I like to look at it but not get in it!
Hmmmm actually another slight correction. I love water when it's smooth and calm as I find it to be very soothing and theraputic...I just don't like to get in the "stormy" waters.
Sue

My chart has the following
Air: Sun- Mercury- Saturn- Uranus- Pluto- Mid Heaven

Earth: Moon- Venus- Jupiter- Ascendent

Fire: Mars- Neptune

Water: None

The following info. was taken from The Larousse Encyclopedia of Astrology by Jean-Louis Brau

Air: Stands for communication, relationship, intellect.
Some call it the "humane signs"
An overemphasis of air signs in a chart may indicate a personality that is overly verbal or intellectual.

A lack of air may be associated with difficulty in thinking clearly or expressing oneself, a disadvantage that may be considerably offset by a well-placed, well-aspected Mercury.

Earth: Stands for practicality, sensuality, and caution.

An overemphasis of earth signs in a birth chart is associated with sluggishness, materialism, and lack of imagination.
A lack of earth is associated with impracticality, unreliability, and carelessness, qualities that may be considerably offset by well-placed, a well-aspected Saturn.

Fire: Stands for enthusiasm and optimism.

An overemphasis of fire signs in a birth chart is associated with egotism, arrogance, or even violence, depending on other factors in the chart.

A lack of fire might manifest as listlessness, apathy, or lack of self confidence, qualities that may be considerably offset by a well-placed, well-aspected Sun or Mars.

Water: Stands for emotions, sensitivity and fluidity.
An overemphasis of water signs in a birth chart is associated with emotional instability and hypersensitivity
to the psychic environment.

A lack of water is associated with emotional coldness and inability to empathize, qualities that may be considerably offset by a well-placed, well-aspected Venus or Moon.

Moon in Cap/ 1st house
Venus in Cap/ 1st house

I believe my Moon and Venus have been "well-placed"
to offset my lack of water.
Because I have no symptoms associated with "emotional coldness" or "inability to empathize".

I can be cold to some people...
But people that I care for get plenty of affection.
Empathy is really stressing on my emotions... because empathy can only be given if you've "been there, done that"
Due to the fact that I have experienced a lot of Good and Bad in my life.
I can empathize with most... but not all.

Hi Mary
Yes that's exactly what I was meaning when a "standard" interpretation of the lack of water is given.
In my experience people with a lack of water are not "usually" cold or lacking empathy.
(But obviously other aspects/placements in their chart must be taken into account)
Some astrologers believe that people with "a lack" of a certain element actually over compensate for the lack.

Anyone one else have a lack of water? Or any other element? How do you relate to "your lack"?

I have a Leo-fire sun. My brother, dad, best friend from highschool, my boyfriend, my 'guru', my 'student' and another girl who keeps popping up into my life all have Leo rising.(Think I have something to learn?) I have Mars in Aries and all the people that give me the most grief/pleasure all seem to have Mars in Libra(opposite Aries)
I have a Scorpio rising, and if you've ever read Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, please tell me how they found out about me.
I think my Neptune Sagittarius gives me rose colored glasses to the world.
I think my Uranus in Libra makes me open minded to some strange things.
My Saturn in Gemini......IS OUT FOR REVENGE...or something horrible and nasty like that.
I have Jupiter in Aquarius, makes me think big(Jupiter)about inventions and ideas(Aquarius)????
North Node is in Capricorn...I came here to stomp on everyone else's parade???Kidding...Not too sure on that other than I have to do it all myself.
My moon is in Virgo, and it better be right(which is my way, of course ) or I might nag you to death. I'm creative.
My Mercury is Cancer and I think I can write with feeling but boy howdy do I speak with it.
Pluto is in Libra and I have no idea. Maybe that is where my dark side comes in on relationships?
Venus is in Virgo and my love side can sometimes take on a business like attitude. Aren't there buttons for those things?

That's me...at least some of me.

BTW....Great job.

I've a double earth core (Vir Sun & Tau Moon)with Sag rising and a heavy influence of air, with Mercury, Venus, Mars and Pluto in Libra & Jupiter in Gemini. Like Cat, I have a shortage on water (only Uranus), but I second her opinion that we do not neccesarily lack in empathy I guess I'm more self-sufficient than most, so I don't always manage to empathize with what I would consider trivialities, but good on me, there's that 12th house Neptune - so I'm "sold" when there's a big crisis, like one of my best friends' eating-disorder. Not only that, she is from the Balkans and lost several family members during the civil war She used me as her "therapist" for an extended period - and wore me out - I had to back out for a while, but hope to get in touch with her again when I'm home for Christmas.
Water signs are abundant among my best friends and favourite lovers - but then I have Pisces on the 3rd, Cancer *within* the 7th and Scorpio on the 11th house, respectively - so it figures on more accounts than the elements, I guess?
The influence of what little water I've got? I'm just a little bit crazy, I guess! Off-beat, for sure!

Cat, Mary - very interesting about this compensating thing. A Moon in the first house must be as good as a Cancer asc? And the Venus placement certainly makes you a warm person, Mary. I my dad's chart his lack of air is compensated with a Leo Mercury in 3rd house and three planets in the 11th, I thought it was a bit strange that a lack of air person could be a lecturer and publish several books and articles, but Cat explained it!
I have two planets in the 1st house, one in the 9th and MC in Aries, so I guess this is sort of compensating for lack of fire elsewhere. I'm outgoing, take a lot of initative, energetic (normally), but I'm not though. I've grown up in a family where "fun" is sailing through an orkan, ski-jumping off a cliff or kayaking around Greenland - not my style, I'd be afraid (plus I find it a totally waste of time!!). When I was a child I'd start crying if someone said a harsh word to me, and for years I would avoid acting in a way that would make someone angry or upset with me. This has also to do with 12th house Mars. I've had (and still have sometimes) problems expressing anger. Here I must credit His Royal Lion for making me realize that it's ok to get angry sometimes and that it's not the end of the world if someone gets angry at you - he'd just shrug his shoulders while I lie awake with guilt all night
...
As for His Royal Lion's lack of earth it was obvious in earlier years. When I first met him he was 29 and his wordly, or rather, earthly, possessions consisted of a bed and a tape recorder. He didn't even have a proper mirror, just a small above the sink in the bathroom. His Royal Lion survived this because his second home was just five steps down the street, the backdoor always open, so before going anywhere he'd pop by and take a long and amazed look (amazed that it's possible to look that stunning!) in that huge mirror above the bar... Seven years later, at our final encounter, his possesions had expanded with a melamine camping table, three camping chairs with seats covered in brown plastic, a Mickey Mouse and a Donald Duck mug (gift from a friend) and a piece of art. As he has loads of planets in the 6th house the lack of earth is somehow compensated for and explains his passion for gardening/farming, health and healing. But it still doesn't make him very grounded, he spends about one third of his life searching for his stuff and very often get lost when his out driving (at least that's what he tells me!

Loving the dialogue and there is so much learning that goes on in the reading over which little bit of this makes one act like this etc.
Poops, I actually pulled up your chart when you asked about the Saturn in the 7th transit as I have that too. Our charts are not that alike but they do have the asc/des a bit alike with the Saturn going over our descendant in the 7th and it has been retroing and partying back and forth. Hmmm. I noticed the Sag Sun and Scorp moon but we are both Sag ascendants too so we ARE a lot alike as you are the first I have met that has the same BIG three. My Moon is in the 1oth and my Sun is in the 12th so that makes quite a difference. I also have Venus and Chiron in my 12th so the Pluto in Sag is really on me. The Jupiter question you asked is trining your Sag but your Leo is in your 9th and it is empty so think it isn't hitting anything in your 9th right now.I think Jupiter is always benefic but it is the Saturn opposing our Sag and the Pluto conjuncting our Sag that is rather suffocating.Good luck to you.
We will survive this and it is hard cos I feel like the Leo guy and I are 'hanging by a thread' and these transits seem very intense. Do write me from time to time to share whether you are open on the outside but private on the inside. Sag/Scorp uh huh
Firedragon yes the same decan and what is your Moon and Ascendant? I find all this so interesting and thanks Terri for bringing this to us. You too, Cat as I am sure coordinating all this is a job and a half. Thanks so much Love Flame
