Fellow astro-travellers,A common question in astrology is: What career should I have? While we can't always get the career we want, either because we are not chosen for it or because we don't have the background for it, our chart CAN show us careers we MIGHT be interested and MIGHT be able to do. The FIRST step is to learn the basics of astrology (beginning here: http://www.linda-goodman.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=displayprivate&number=12&topic=000458 ) and then understanding planetary energy (here: http://www.linda-goodman.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=displayprivate&number=12&topic=000461 ). Then we are ready to look at how all this can fit together in career. Take a look at your chart, and see which planet/sign/house / keyword combinations are occurring again and again in the chart. Then match those combinations to the following chart:
- Aries/Mars/1rst house: police officer, fire fighter, stunt person, ambulance driver, sales representative, soldier, iron or steel worker, athlete, foundry worker, metal worker, athlete, manufacturer.
- Taurus/Venus/2nd house: farmer, landscape gardener, construction worker, carpenter, forest ranger, accountant, financial adviser, architect, hotelier, bank manager, singer, horticulturist, builder, sculptor, surveyor, accountant, auctioneer, property dealer, financier, banker, chiropractic, massage therapist, butcher, builder, minerologist, surveyor.
- Gemini/Mercury/3rd house: journalist, writer, telesales executive, sales representative, orator, railroad conductor, sales person, broadcaster, commentator, lecturer, writer, linguist, shop assistant, chauffeur, light manual labor, craftsman, telephone operator, postman, navigator, comedian, auto mechanic. professional driver, truck driver, cab driver.
- Cancer/Moon/4th house: domestic help, hotelier, caterer, plumber, antique collector, furniture restorer, real estate agent, caterer, domestic science specialist, antique dealer, museum curator, historian, interior decorator, home help, politician, cook.
- Leo/Sun/5th house: model, fashion designer, film director, fire fighter, artist, animal trainer, police officer, musician, agent, actor, dancer, teacher, youth worker, managing director, entertainer, circus performer, jeweler.
- Virgo/Mercury/6th house: filing clerk, estimator, domestic help, writer, draughtsman, nutritionist, secretary, analyzer, statistician, gardner, accountant, inspector, craftsman, nurse, receptionist. shopkeeper.
- Libra/Venus/7th house: florist, artist, air steward, beauty consultant, hair dresser, arbitrator, counselor, media representative, presenter, beautician, hair dresser, milliner, diplomat.
- Scorpio/Pluto/8th house: stockbroker, private detective, police officer, gynecologist, surgeon, midwife, psychiatrist, alternative therapist, undertaker, psychologist, pathologist, sewage worker, insurance, researcher, tax official, healer.
- Sagittarius/Jupiter/9th house: travel representative, croupier, jockey, humorist, teacher, professor, lecturer, philosopher, lawyer, judge, interpreter, veterinarian, horse trainer, travel agent, explorer, sportsman, jockey, publisher, librarian, book seller, cartographer.
- Capricorn/Saturn/10th house: traffic warden, executive, engineer, osteopath, dentist.
- Aquarius/Uranus/11th house: Scientist, alternative therapist, sociologist, charity worker, mathematician, inventor, radiographer, television worker, astrologer, astronomer, archaeologist, humanitarian, civil servant, airport worker.
- Pisces/Neptune/12th house: dancer, poet, shoe business, fisherman, doctor, hypnotist, pharmacist, illusionist, photographer, priest, prison work, psychic medium, missionary, nun.
Use this list to get some ideas about possible careers...based on the interactions of energies in your chart. But always remember...you don't HAVE to have a career in something to enjoy it...maybe you just want to do some of these things in your spare time! Do you combine the north node sign and house energies with 10th house?I have NN in Aries, 5th house Mars Pluto Jupiter Uranus in 10th all in Virgo except Uranus, which is Libra. I am now at a very, very Virgo job of auditing, which I surprisingly like a lot. IP: Logged |

mystical,With Aries (being) modifying North node (future goals) focused in the 5th house (self-expression), you probably are also getting the necessary praise and recognition in your job...or you wouldn't be at that job for long! ;-) I wouldn't "combine" things without there being aspects between them...but in our life we naturally "combine" our energies and use our WHOLE chart. So if you have a lot of Virgo (daily work) focused in the 10th house (duty, also career, structure), having an interest in having a structured routine for a career makes a lot f sense! Hmm...I'm quite confused at what combos I would be looking at. I do see one combo based on the planet/house combo but those are all jobs I really don't like. :P Same with my MC in Capricorn! In my real life, I'm really interested in the environment and may go into conservation/invasive species, or may go in the direction of something creative, like scientific illustrator. I also want to be a writer. Just not sure how to look at the combos! IP: Logged |

Virgo,First I suggest doing some "astro-sentencing" and then seeing which key words keep repeating themselves. Also, see if you have a lot of planets focused in a particular house...that can also indicate a strong focus. This job bank will become MUCH more useful as you get used to how your energies fit together in your chart. Taking it one step at a time, Tim IP: Logged |

26,Uranus (friends, also rebellion) conjunct (energy is combined with) Midheaven (outer world) can indicate rebelling against the outer world and the need to do things the way others do them...such as in getting a "career". It can also suggest an entrepreneur who "finds their own way" in life. Finding a way, Tim IP: Logged |

Thanks, Tim. Very true. I think that placement describes why I dont feel like I belong, or fit in here on this planet and dont care at all really about having a career. IP: Logged |

BlueEyes,This sounds like a healthy fit to your career interests! Also take a look at the rest of your chart (besides your Sun sign) to see if anything else "jumps out". Keep an eye on the sign and house of the North node (future goals), because any movement toward the North node in your life will tend to be very satisfying. Healthily fit, Tim IP: Logged |

Katie,The 12th house is about the need to "blend" with everything around us. With the North node (future goals) there, there is a need to "blend" in with the world in some way. Since this focus is in Gemini (thinking, also writing), it is possible that some type of communication is indicated. If there is a strong Leo (self-expresson, also performing arts) indication in your chart, this urge to blend might be an urge to perform artistically. Putting it all together, Tim IP: Logged |
