Hi Everyone
In the hope of trying to get more "audience participation" on this course. I thought it may be a good idea to have a "suggestion box".

So this string is for you all to post your thoughts, fears about participating/posting, and suggestions as to how we can make this forum better and more active.

We have a LOT of people who have asked for access to this course but very few people who actually post. Why is that?

I do appreciate that not everyone is interested in becoming an astrologer and may only be interested in their own or partners chart interpretation. That's ok, there's nothing wrong with that. We are going to look at individual charts but we need to cover the basics first.

Talk to me

Mostly i don't have access to the charts of many people i know so i find it difficult to post interpretations on planetary placements and aspects i've no experience at dealing with.

I try to be as active as I can be though

Hi N_w
Ok that makes sense. Thanks I appreciate that Yes it is much easier to associate sign placements when you know someone who has that placement.
Thank you for your support on the course

Hi Cat, I`m plugging along and most questions I have , have already been answered by the time I get to them. Also, I don`t want to slow anyone up to rehash old posts.

Hi Cat!

I'd like to participate more, but I got the feeling that this forum is very similar to the Astrology one because I got very few of my questions answered even though there are teachers here for what I thought was to be that purpose as well.
I was disappointed to see that it's OK for me to discuss things and add my own observations but not to ask too many questions because I obviously tire out the teacher, so I just gave up asking them. I thought at least here I can ask questions and get answers, but I didn't, so for me it's better to ask someone else in the forum for whom I know will answer and there's a better chance that more people will respond, and the other forum is not restricted to the schedule (but I'm aware you have to follow it because otherwise it would be chaos ).
Most of us know the definitions of planets in signs and houses or can look them up easily, so for me this part of the course is moving along too slowly.
However I do think it's a good idea to practice our own interpretations for, let's say, Venus in Virgo etc.

I know you're all giving your best though, so please don't take this the wrong way - I really don't blame anyone, I was just expressing my opinion. I know this is a difficult task for a teacher to handle, so I understand that it's hard to satisfy each and every one of the 300 or so eager pupils

Hi Morgana
Thank you for your reply.

What questions didn't you get answered? I have a vague memory of you asking a question but as it wasn't related to what we were covering I think I asked if you could "hold that thought" until we got to that point in the course? My reason for doing that is so that we can keep the course on track and move it along faster.

Re: you say...
"Most of us know the definitions of planets in signs and houses or can look them up easily"

I'm not sure that is strictly true. If it was then I would have thought people could "whizz off" their interpretations, which would help to speedily move the course along. Can I ask why you haven't posted your interpretations for each sign/lesson? Or are you not really interested in doing that?

Re: You saying about "tire a teacher out"
I'm re you saying that.

Yes there are similarities here and on the astrology forum. There will always be similarities where astrology forums are. The astrology forum is for everyone and anyone to chat/discuss astrology. It's not a question and answer forum. Everyone pitches in with their thoughts and interpretations. There's no format to that forum.

This forum is a course for people who want to learn astrology. So as in any course there has to be a format - otherwise as you rightly said - it would be chaos. Plus the teachers do need feed back so as to know how to pace the lessons accordingly.

We did used to have an "Ask The Astrologer" forum - which was specifically for asking questions for the astrologer to answer. We no longer have that forum.

For my part, I'd appreciate questions pertaining to the lesson I'm covering. Please feel free to ask questions anytime. Often there are others who wonder about the same thing, but may not ask.

This subject is so large, and somewhat complex that it must seem like we are explaining a tree, leaf by leaf. Bear with us, and I think that as we go along, we will pull it togteher for you.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you very much Lanny

Hey Sue , don't get mad, I just said what I think or, rather, what I feel. I never asked a question that is not related to the subject, that is simply not my style, so feel free to check my replies in this forum. You must've confused me with someone else.

I was really referring to a question I posed about my Sun squaring Uranus in the Aspects to the Sun thread when I didn't receive an answer for some time, and nobody really ever answered me, even when it was clarified after initial misunderstanding what it is that I want to know, so I had to settle for that. As for the other ones, I have to look them up. But I remember that in that period I got the feeling (emphasising the word "feeling"!) that I can't ask as many questions as I want to. But, Cat, I know you always answered all my questions and I thank you for that

"Can I ask why you haven't posted your interpretations for each sign/lesson? Or are you not really interested in doing that?"

Well, I see no point in doing that when I can read the interpretations in several books and on the net, and I'm not really interested in practicing what I know at this point. But as I said, I can see that it can be very useful practice for those who are, so I don't know why you're making me feel guilty about that I'm not in school, am I? And to further clarify myself: I just hate homework or anything obligatory (I think it's a Sun-Uranus thing). I like to participate when something interests me, but if that means I have to do everything else as well, then I'd rather not.

I knew you'd take what I said the wrong way, so that's why I'm explaining myself so much. So, again: this is my personal outlook on things taken from my personal experience, which doesn't mean that this is the case for everyone. And I know there's no pleasing everyone all the time. I know everything what you told me in your reply. And I have no hard feelings whatsoever about anything or anyone here. And I think this forum is a wonderful idea. I just thought that I'd give my input since you asked for it.
I hope now we understand each other

Hi Morgana
No I'm not mad
Sorry I must have confused you with someone else re the question. I just assumed (wrongly) that you meant I hadn't answered your questions and that you were making me feel guilty about that. So we obviously both got the wrong idea about making each other feel guilty. You asked a question and I guess I "went on the defensive" and then I asked you a question and I guess you then "went on the defensive"

No you're not in school so you and everyone else can participate whenever they have the time or when they want to. I honestly don't have a problem with that.

Haha, Sue, I guess we're both not guilty

Whew, I'm so relieved everything's cleared up, I felt really bad about being in this kind of foggy misunderstanding conflict (which reminds me: I have to look what Neptune's doing at the moment ) with you of all people, who've always been so nice and helpful to me and everyone else

See you around

P.S. If I may, can I suggest some added features to the course? I thought maybe you could include Vertex and Midpoints, but I know it's a lot of work as it is and a huge commitment on the part of the teachers, so I'd just like to say thank you all for doing this (I'm really sincere now )

Hi Morgana
No problem
Now this will make you laugh.......
I currently have transiting Uranus exactly opp my natal Mercury
Plus transiting Mars is opposing practically everything It's currently sitting exactly conjunct my descendant & NN....so opposing my Virgo stellium. Plus transiting Neptune is opp my natal Mars...

Sue

PS: Good idea re those additions to the course.

Hi there,
I thought I'd put my 2 cents in... if only for the reason of practising "posting" which is painfully new to me, and a little intimidating.
I have been teaching myself astrology for about 10 years now... read lots of books (almost all of Linda Goodman's which is what brought me here ;^)... asked ALL my friends for their birthdata... spent tonnes of time on astro.com.....BUT I have NEVER given an actually interpretation to anyone (as in written anything down)...I have discussed a few things with people, but that's about it. I started studying astrology to learn about myself and how I relate with others in an effort to better myself. I would like to be able to share and learn more, that's why I came here. Hopefully I can learn to become comfortable with myself and my "grand cross" and all of it's squares and oppositions hopefully I can learn to share some of the things that I feel I have learned about astrology, but have never expressed. I look forward to getting to know everyone and to getting over my fear and finding my voice...
peace

Hi eriKa
Thanks for your input
Yes it can sometimes feel a bit daunting to give your first interpretation to someone....but it is a great way to learn.
The best way is just to jump right in....the waters fine

I took a very quick peek at your chart and noticed you have natal Venus in Cancer. It would be great if you could share how you experience your venus on the Venus in Cancer string and also comment on how you relate to the interpretations that are already on the string

Do you find your Cancerian Mercury hides a bit in it's shell until it feels comfortable? I was just wondering as that thought came into my mind as I read your post especially when you said " to getting over my fear and finding my voice..."

Hi Sue!
Thanks for the reply, and the insight...
haha, i guess it's true... i do stay in my shell until i am comfortable expressing myself...or at least until i get excited enough that i feel compelled to say something... i've just never spoken about it in this way before.

it's nice to talk about one's self in astrological terms, very refreshing!!!

this is going to be a great experience... it's a funny mix of feelings for me, as I am excited about astrology and want to share...and am nervous about exposing myself...especially the parts of me that glare out of my natal chart and that i try to hide...

this is going to be an adventure...

blessings

Wow Cat, those are some heavy smooth communication-obstructing aspects

I looked at my transits and there's nothing interesting really, no Uranus or Mars or Neptune transits worth mentioning (except for some semi-squares and the 150 degree one - I can't remember the Engish name for it). Transiting Mars and Uranus are still conjunct in my 7th house, but I can so understand you having Mars on the Descendant because this is what I've had to deal with all my life and it's a pain I tell you, people almost always take you the wrong way thinking you want to harm them, so they attack you, and you simply have to be "on the defensive" if you don't want to get hurt. So you have my sympathies re. this

But did you notice that transiting Neptune and Mercury are in opposition? I just knew there had to be something in the air for us such understanding souls to engage in such a mis-understanding!

Hi, prettzel, and welcome!

I have no problem giving interpretations anymore since I realize they are all personally biased just a little, and it's better than nothing. Computer generated readings only go so far..that said I love it when people give me their unbiased unvarnished interpretations based on their own or other's experiences. I don't care if it's right or not I can separate the good from the bad. It bothers me too when nobody answers a question because they are afraid of being wrong.

Don't be afraid!

That's my suggestion,

Take Care Everyone,
Natasha

EveryOne,

Are there are questions regarding the topics discussed thus far? Are there things that are unclear for you?

Sue and Lanny are here to help us all out, but assistance is not limited to teachers. We can all contribute to each other. Never under estimate your abilities to help another person out, even if you think it is little. Every bit counts.

If there is something that is holding you back from participating, please do share what it is on this thread. There are no wrong or right stories, little or small, we are all here together to learn. This is a symposium where community is the school in itsELF.

Love

Hi fire cracker
Yes we will be covering those - probably once we start the advanced course. I'm going to try to get the course moving along a little quicker. It's a bit of trial and error at the moment, as don't want to go too quickly so that people feel they're getting left behind and give up but also don't want to go too slowly that other people get bored.

The course will be an "on going thing" so people can always post on the older lessons and we can still talk/discuss those as well.

Somethings got to happen for sure as Mars is crossing those angles and Nodes 3 times...I don't know what though with all this Mars action...plus now it's retro it's going to exactly opp my Venus and Mercury again.......
I guess I'm a work in progress

I'd probably expect tempers to flare this month. Had some friends of mine in a bar fight last night.

A bar fight oh dear Mars is really doing a number on everyone.
Hmm just thought bar = alcohol = Neptune and we know Mars likes a fight..... Astrology never ceases to amaze me.

I'm so aware of Mars and it's potential problems at the moment....especially as my 8th house cusp is 6 degree Aries ..so Mars is going be playing in my 7th for about 6 months
