Peri,

In my opinion, a planet actually in a house has MORE influence than the planet that rules the house. That is because the planetary energy is actually focused in the house (and on the issues of the house). For more about this house-based interpretive method see: http://www.geocities.com/wilsontctc

Focused on houses,

Tim

hi peri,
I agree with wilsontc that you will see the planets energy stronger than the sign on the cusp.

The sign on the cusp is important though because this shows your initial response to this area of the chart (what the house rules) an example would be Sag on the 2nd house cusp with Saturn in the 2nd. Sag would offer (initially) to pick up the tab but Saturn would let someone else beat him to it.

wilsontc I checked out your site 2 thumbs up

hey Lala,

I meant not just sign on the cusp but its ruler.
E.g. My 10th house ruler Pluto is in the 8th and has lots of supportive aspects but I also have Uranus on Mc which is very very afflicted; and vice-versa, the ruler of my 5th house, Mercury is very afflicted while I have a good Jupiter in the 5th house.
I wonder which of them (ruler or planet in house) have more influence on the house and how their influences differ, no one seem to know the difference; some people say ruler is more important others say planet in the house...

Peri,

Reference to the "sign on the cusp" IS a reference to the ruler of the house. The planet which rules the sign on the cusp rules the house. What we are saying is that planets IN a house are more important than the "sign on the cusp/house ruler" issues you are concerned about. If this is not clear, let me know what is UNclear and I will attempt to explain it better.

As to your point "some people say ruler is more important others say planet in the house", it is true there are differing opinions in the astrological community on this issue. The best solution to this dilemma is to analyze your own chart and come to your own conclusion based on your life experiences as to whether house ruler or planets in house are more important to your chart.

Re-explaining,

Tim
