Hi Moonshine,

I've got your chart but I can't find you're thread so I'll start this one. Lets start with the Ascendant

Cancer Asc.
(Dane Rudhyar)

A Cancer Ascendant will tend to make a person concerned with very definite, perhaps intellectually formulatable or experientially workable goals. The issues are sharply definable and involve individual personalities. What is perhaps more important is that the Cancer Ascendant person will trust more in the use of personal power and of the dynamic power of love. Adler, a psychologist who left the Freudian school, had a Cancer Ascendant, and he emphasized the importance of purely personal reaction to some kind of handicap and the will-to-power which compensates for feelings of inferiority by expressing aggressivity.

The person with Cancer as rising sign will also use this process of perosnal compensation but primarily as he establishes associations with other people. He is afraid to meet them in a person-to-person interaction. He may hide under broad concepts and Capricornian social generalizations. He has to build a social persona, to play a role in which he can appear superior to other people; and clairvoyance may turn out to be quite a remarkable way of impressing the persons with whom one comes into relationship with one's superior faculty of perception, while at the same time one is inwardly painfully aware of one's own individual insecurity.

We're working on Mercury, go to that thread and post your aspects

Ok Mercury, square Jupiter and Neptune

Mercury square or opposition Neptune (Charles Carter)

This configuration usually indicates an astute and cunning type of person, capable of deep scheming and in fact hardly ever able to avoid some degree of deception, though not necessarily for evil purposes. Sometimes the deception is of a quite innocent order.

It is probable that this characteristic arises from the delicate perceptions of the aspects, which enable the native to divine what others will do or try to do. It is employed in this way in the more positive types of birth chart. In negative types, the same sensitiveness leads to a retired life, often combined with an amiable disposition.

Sometimes it leads to easy discouragement and lack of self-confidence, because the native is too thin-skinned and worries unduly. Sometimes the same sensitiveness causes fierce outbursts of resentful anger. Like all Neptunian aspects, it is not easy to say in what precise way the contact will manifest; much will depend on the rising sign. It is clear that lack of real self-confidence may easily induce a person to resort to deceit.

Active imagination and the insight into motives that results from sensitive perceptions may be invaluable to a man of genius or even a man of practical sense; but in the case of persons of weak judgement and understanding the same things may lead to all kinds of foolish and morbid fancies.

Mercury square or opposition Jupiter (Charles Carter)

The inharmonious contacts of these bodies are by no means altogether unfavourable, the mind being active and very fertile of new ideas.

But there is a tendency of each planet to injure the other. Mercury loses some of its sharpness and acuteness. There may be a propensity to forget names and words sometimes in the midst of conversation, and absent-mindedness is frequent. There may be a wool-gathering tendency. The mind may be sceptical in religious matters, or, on the other hand, there may be superstition; that not uncommon person, the superstitious infidel, seems to come under these configurations. It is not a combination that will give balance in religious thought or practice; and, although it is often kind and generous, nevertheless here too its action is often eccentric. Reason and faith are commonly in conflict. It is often found in charts of those who have 'religious difficulties'.

It inclines to carelessness and imprudence, especially in small things; the native tends to exaggerate and scorns the dull formality of facts. Judgement is poor and the native is not likely to give good advice, espcially in matters coming under either planet. He is a poor prophet, and astrologers with these afflictions are not likely to win credit for themselves or their art so far as predictive work is concerned.

Sometimes there is considerable self-assurance and conceit, even to the extent of intolerable self-opiniation and self-sufficiency. But under cross-examination the bluff is easily dispelled, for the native can rarely collect his mental resources rapidly and is readily flustered; he cannot, as it were, manoeuvre under fire. In fact, he will do well to learn to refuse to be hurried into answering questions, and to cultivate the faculty of forming cool, precise opinions. It is generally an indiscreet contact, apt to 'let the cat out of the bag' in an embarrassing manner.

In ordinary life, this combination usually denotes many little troubles, but if the native should occupy himself with matters ruled by the two planets he may find them a constant and possibly serious danger, owing to the deception, duplicity and muddle they may cause. Thus, in any matter coming under banking, insurance, any kind of guaranteeing, sports, hunting, publishing and travelling, their influence is often strong. It often denotes losses through the mistakes or dishonesty of employees or subordinates of some dort, and sometimes through imprudent optimism on the native's own part. There is a danger of loss through the bankruptcy of others. WIth other, more serious afflictions, it may combine to indicate dnger of fraud, libel, slander, and similar Mercurial attacks on one's money and reputation.

It tends to injure the health through the liver, and there is often a direct poisoning of the nervous system as a consequence.

The artistic and literary proclivities of the good aspects are equally present with the bad, and sometimes there is more activity and ambition with the latter. The religious or philosophic motif is often present, and such a poem as Tennyson's 'In Memoriam' may, as regards its general tenor, be considered a good exemplification of this aspect. There is often a distinct tendency to neglect worldly matters for art, religion, literature, or some cognate occupation.

Thanks very much Linda..

Hmm, not too flattering but some of it is true... i DO tend to hide behind a shell, not because i want to be superior but I can be quite insecure about myself. Im never confident. I dont think I have a social persona though, Im either close to you or not at all...

i cant believe i;ve never thought of my cancer asc in this way before! I've always blamed my cancer influence for my having a domineering mother!! Is there anything in my chart that says anything about overbearing family infuences?!

You don't have the worst chart ever, I do hahaha j/k We all have something,
with hard aspects, this shows (depending on the planet and the house that it rules) areas in your chart that need work.

Hard aspects show difficult patterns we are born with, that we strive to overcome (our lessons) and in the end improves us.

You're Cancer Asc. is ultra sensitive so you're looking at the negative, don't, every thing evens out.

You have a lot of positives and we'll get to them all. Right now were working on Venus

Venus in Virgo
(Grant Lewi)

You relate emotional experience to a well-organized code of conduct. You have strong family feeling, and generally have genuine affection for your relatives. Your believe in the proprieties is so strong that you just don't have emotions that would involve their violation. Your impulses are usually strictly proper; if you stray from the beaten track, it is because you have convinced yourself that it is all right: you satisfy your conscience before the transgression, and rarely after. You substitute self-justification for remorse. Small niceties are emotionally important to you; and if you're not careful, you will substitute the sentimentalities of love for love itself. The proprieties as you conceive them stand guard over your emotional reactions; your sense of good taste is your emotional censor, and will keep you from many unconventionalities of those less sure of the right thing. This need not detract from the warmth of your nature, provided you don't let the tail wag the dog. Remember that the proprieties were made to serve a purpose, and that before there can be an emotional code there must be emotions. To have proprieties for their own sake is like having a general and no army.

Venus in the 3rd
(Howard Sasportas)

Those with this placement have the ability to communicate in an easy, fluent and non-threatening manner if Venus is not hampered by difficult aspects. They are sensitive to the needs of those around them, although some may try a little too hard to speak only what they think will please others. People generally find it easy to communicate and 'open up' to someone with Venus in the 3rd, as if they sense the atmosphere of loving receptivity this placement bestows. There is usually a fondness and appreciation of brothers and sisters, and there are usually benefits through them, although certain aspects to to Venus (from Pluto for instance) suggest an intense sibling rivalry or incestuous urges. Unless Venus is difficulty aspected, the educational experience should be fairly enjoyable. There is often a love of words, knowledge and languages, or the capacity to express the self through some form of artistic medium. Weekend jaunts here and there are likely to give pleasure; and these people normally fit easily into different situations and environments.

hi moonshine,
Your ruling planet is the Moon (Cancer Ascendant) yours is in Pisces and in the 9th house. By sign and by house your Moon is mutable so changeable.

Moon in Pisces (Tracy Marks)

Having Moon in Pisces means that we need space in our lives to drift and to dream, relationships based upon empathic bonds, and openness to sources of inspiration inside and outside ourselves. The watery energies of the Moon are easily expressed, and sometimes overly emphasized, by a Pisces Moon placement. When we experience our feelings and needs, we may even indulge them through long bouts of crying, self-pity, or elicitations of sympathy from other people. With or without awareness, we may seek to escape from ourselves through fantasy or idealization, or thorugh such addictions as alcohol or drugs. Many of us with Pisces Moons may vicariously experience our feelings and satisfy our needs by continually focusing upon the feelings and needs of others and devoting ourselves to their welfare.

A parent who was a Piscean influence most probably responded sensitively and compassionately to us and encouraged our inspirational temperament. However, if our Moon is afflicted, such a parent may also have had a detrimental influence upon us. He or she may ahve overindulged us, catering to our aches and pains, or too frequently played the martyr, giving to us wholeheartedly but also invoking guilt or seeking complete dedication in return. He or she may have been hypochondriacal, or of an ethereal nature which could not easily come to terms with physical reality. A Piscean parent may have been victim to his or her own addictions, or tangled in dreams or fantasies and not fully emotionally or physically present.

We who have Moon in Pisces may need to learn how to respond constructively to our own feelings and needs, to serve ourselves and give to ourselves rather than attempt to lose ourselves in others. Often, because we suffer from a divine discontent, we may have difficulty accepting and adapting to the realities of an earthly existence; we need to be able to translate our visions into action, to live those dreams which are viable, thereby forging a link between our practical and spiritual or creative natures. We may seek to experience oneneess in close relationships, but we are nto likely to know wholly that oneness unless we cultivate our attunement to our own creative and / or spiritual source, and open our hearts to the fullness of both the love and the pain within us.

Moon in the 9th (Stephanie Camilleri)

These people love truth and adventure, and can never get enough of each other. To them, home is where the hat is, or the heart, and is not connected to land or buildings (unless the Moon is in an Earth sign). They are never content to sit by the fire - at least, not for long.

Men with this placement are inclined to be attracted to partners from faraway places, or from a culture very different from their own. They may also have a hard time holding onto them. Most men with this position of the Moon lose a partner or important love relationship at least once, and possibly more than once (unless the Moon is in Cancer or Capricorn). Often, the relationship seems to fade away while he is involved elsewhere, at work, or on a long business trip. Women with this location of the Moon are adventurous and daring, even if they hide it, and will strike out for faraway places or adventure at least once or twice in their lives.

These people are usually good storytellers and appreciate good stories. They want to hear about life from the horse's mouth almost as much as they want to experience it themselves and tell others about it. They are attracted to various systems of thought, and will try one after another, seeking the truth within each as they seek the essence of life in adventures. They are somewhat inclined to lose sight of goals and get carried away by passing enthusiasms unless there are balancing features in the chart. Their search for the meaning of life can lead them into almost any field. They may be drawn to the ministry, but be put off by its restrictions on their freedom.

With the Moon in a Water sign, they will have deep insights into natural laws. In Capricorn, they may be attracted to a public career. In Air, they will be able to see into human nature. In Fire, they may work to become a virtuoso of some sort.

In any sign, they will have insights into life often enough so that seeking and nourishing their insights will be part of their lives. Trips will be important to them. Many of the important events of their lives will occur on or because of a trip to a faraway place, or because of a visit from someone from far away.

This Moon position often gives a wise, religious, or refined mother, one who stimulates their interest in knowledge, learning, and the truth; although, if there are bad aspects, the mother may also bring grief, have mental or emotional problems, or have a life situations that will isolate them from her in some way. Thus enters the element of search, especially in a man's chart.

These people like to teach, but often lack the patience for it.

Thanks lalalinda... i like my moon sign, and i relate to it a lot... and i can see how my cancer rising stuffs things up for me by making me super-sensitive and taking things way too personally

I have a question about my chart: since i have Sun, Venus and Pluto in Virgo in the 3rd house, would that constitute a Virgo stellium?
