How does progressed Ascendant influence your chart, exactly? Does it just take over your Ascendant, or what, exactly?

And also, on a related question (being that it's about the Ascendant), how does the sign of the Ascendant also being on the cusp of the 12th house effect your personality or appearance?

When your progressed asc changes signs you aquire new qualities. For instance, if your natal asc is in gemini and progressed asc has entered cancer, you start aquiring cancerian traits (or even your apperance becomes more "cancerian")you may have kids or get married or just become more of a homebody than you used to be before.
When progressed asc makes aspects to natal planets, important changes happen in your life but the nature of these changes can be checked with and should be confirmed by transits and solar chart.

My natal Ascendant progressed from Virgo to Libra when I was about 5 or 6, so I haven't had the time to notice the changes.

Nove,

Having the sign of the Ascendant the same as the cusp of the 12th house has nothing to do with your personality or appearance. The Ascendant and aspects to the Ascendant have to do with your appearance. The entire chart has to do with your personality!
