After much confusion regarding the "self" and it's ruler it has been decided that the Sun rules the brain and the ascendent rules the "self".

Waddya think?

The only other resolution to the confusion would be that Sun rules the entire human organism (not just the brain) and the ascendent rules the "self".

Either are acceptable and here's why... the self is thought, it isn't a thing, and the body and/or brain is physical. Likewise the Sun is an object and the ascendent isn't, it's just a point.

Bee,

Traditionally the Sun rules the heart. This seems to go well with the idea of Leo (ruled by the Sun) as a noble, good-hearted sign. To me the ruling of the brain is better for a more anlytical planet, such as Mercury.

Some of the confusion is that the Ascendant has to with self and the Sun has to do with the expression of that self. They are two different things: for example our "self" could be our body, but our expression of our self is what we DO with that body (such as dancing).

Opinionating,

Tim

Wilsontc,

Sounds good. The first impulse here is to associate the ascendent with that which is psychological and Sun with that which is physical.

Wilson,

Your critique of my interpretation would be the favor actually. So how about it? I do your chart and you tell me if it is BS or not. OK?

Wilson,

I was born in Rockford, Illinois. That makes us both Illinoisians. I'm gonna post an interp. in the next 24 hours.

edit: OK just entered the info into the program and WOW that's a lot of Virgo. Plus there is all the 12th and 6th house stuff (by Placidus).

This will be fun. I have a Virgo stellium depending on what you consider elligible for stelliums.

Wilson,

Your chart will take some special interpretation. I think I am gonna use a loose orb for the 1st/12th house Virgo stellium and count every planet involved as "conjunct". Then gonna interpret the outer planets as being the influence upon the inner planets and so forth and so on.

It's gonna take a while. Keep lookin for this thread, I will finish it before the weekend and I would love to hear what you think.

Wilsontc,

With Sun, Pluto, Moon (1st house), Uranus and Mercury (12th house) all in Virgo, this obviously is a strong Virgoan influence.

In this stellium Pluto is is influencing all of the other planets the most for two reasons, 1st Pluto is arguably the "planet of influence" and 2nd because it is the planet furthest out.

First of all Pluto the planet of intensity, sex, death, regeneration and enlightenment is affecting Uranus. Uranus the planet of electricity, eccentricity and sudden insight will be intensified and most of the blessings of Uranus will be in the area of psychology and in this case "spirituality" because Uranus is in the 12th house.

To you spirituality is practical, earthy and you have a somewhat pragmatic approach to it, preferring not to believe in anything that is not useful. What is considered useful will likely by humanitarian in nature.

The next planet is Moon. Since Moon is in the first house you are bit moody and you know it. But it is doubtful that this is something that is dwelt on. Moon, in this case suggests that you derive satisfaction from being a friend to other people on the spiritual path. There is something a bit paradoxical about this though because you tend not to want to play the "student" role. This is an expression of Pluto, Pluto wants to be in control, but with Uranus right there too there is also no desire to control others, simply to assist them AND simultaneously not to be controlled. So, it's actually not that paradoxical really.

Now Mercury in the 12th house is being energized by all of this, which is probably either confusing for you or (more likely) taking away confusion for others. This is because Mercury is so rational but it is in the 12th house which is simply the absence of thought/mentation. This could be stifling for poor Mercury but with the Uranus conjunction there has to be genius nonetheless. Especially with Mercury being in Virgo, there is some serious critical, analytic capability, add Uranus and it's pure genius. This is an interesting placement, I hesitate to say more.

Now Sun is getting the the influence of all of these planets. With Sun in the first there is another bit of a paradox because Virgo is a bit shy and retiring but Sun in the first is totally confident. The net effect is the interesting quality of childlike-ness. You probably rarely find yourself in a situation where things don't go your way but when you do you fuss like a baby, your loved ones secretly love this because you actually look like an innocent child (even if it's an angry one).

More later.

Bee,

"Spot on"! as the British say! I particularly like the way you mention an issue common to the ASPECT and then mention the effect the STELLIUM has in mitigating some of the challenges of the aspect.

Agreeing,

Tim

Good info!
