Fellow astro-travelers,

Astrology is an archetype. That is, astrology is a symbol system which all people have in common. However, since it is such a HUGE symbol, it can be difficult to translate this symbol once we start trying to get down to the details of "What does astrology mean to me, personally?"

The first step in understanding the archetype of astrology is to understand the symbol system (astrology as a symbol of the life cycle: http://www.linda-goodman.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=display private&number=12&topic=000469 ). Once this is understood, the "astro-sentences" begin to make more sense ( to begin "astro-sentencing" go to http://www.linda-goodman.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=display private&number=12&topic=000461 ). But, in order to take this archetype the final step and truly personalize it for us, we need to look more deeply at the keywords.

The keywords are, themselves archetypes...symbols for the enormous universal energies that surround us. As a result each "keyword" is a "world" of its own, and we can look into this "world" by extending out the keyword into other words that are similar in archetypal meaning, but may better describe the way we actually use our energies. So here are some extended keywords that are extensions of the archetypal meaning of each keyword:

Aries/Mars/1rst house is about our "being" but it is also about our existence and how we do things in the world, including our actions and reactions. As a result, in addition to "being" issues, Aries/Mars/1rst house is also about the actions we take and our anger if we do not handle these actions well. So the extended keyword is:

  • Aries/Mars/1rst house (being, also action, anger)

Taurus/Venus/2nd house is about the physical, but it is also about the physical things around us which we desire and how we get those things which we desire. As a result, in addition to "physical' issues Taurus/Venus/2nd house is also about our desires in life. So the extended keyword is:

  • Taurus/Venus/2nd house (physical, also desires, values, money, possessions, food)

Gemini/Mercury/3rd house is about thinking, but also about the way we think and communicate our thinking to others, such as by writing, talking, getting the details, selling or joking. As a result, in addition to "thinking" issues Gemini/Mercury/3rd house is also about "communication" issues. So the extended keyword is:

  • Gemini/Mercury/3rd house (thinking, also writing, talking, communicating, details, sales, joking)

Cancer/Moon/4th house is about our home but is also about our earliest awareness of the world and our emotional connection to the world around us. As a result, in addition to "home" issues, Cancer/Moon/4th house is also about "emotional" issues. So the extended keyword is:

  • Cancer/Moon/4th house (home, also emotions, nurture, unconscious)

Leo/Sun/5th house is about self-expression but is also about way we express ourselves to others or the results of our self-expression and creativitiy such as performing arts, hobbies, children. As a result, in addition to "self-expression" issues, Leo/Sun/5th house house is also about "creative" issues. So the extended keyword is:

  • Leo/Sun/5th house (self-expression, dating (as in going on a date), creativity, performing arts, hobbies, photography, children)

Virgo/Mercury/6th house is about our daily work we go through such as maintaining our health or analyzing. As a result, in addition to "daily work" issues, Virgo/Mercury/6th house is also about health and analysis. So the extended keyword is:

  • Virgo/Mercury/6th (daily work, also health, analysis)

Libra/Venus/7th house is about relationships but is also about way we relate to others and do things for others to please them. As a result, in addition to "relationships" issues, Libra/Venus/7th house is also about the results of how we relate to others. So the extended keyword is:

  • Libra/Venus/7th house (relationships, also love, beauty, art)

Scorpio/Pluto/8th house is about transformation and so it is about how we use our power to become more than we were before, this experience of transformative power is also related to psychological, healing, and occult power; our sexuality; and to the transformation which occurs as we go through the process of dying. As a result, in addition to "transformation" Scorpio/Pluto/8th house is about the transformative process and the power that results. So the extended keyword is:

  • Scorpio/Pluto/8th house (transformation, also power, control, psychology, occult, sex, death)

Sagittarius/Jupiter/9th house is about the expansion of our awareness of the world and so it is also about our exploring our world, gathering and publishing our knowledge and our sense of humor about the world. As a result, in addition to "expansion" Sagittarius/Jupiter/9th house is also about the expansion of our awareness. So the extended keyword is:

  • Sagittarius/Jupiter/9th house (expansion, also travel, wisdom, philosophy, law, judge, religion, publishing, humor)

Capricorn/Saturn/10th house is about our duties and responsibilities in the world, but also about the way we accept and work with to structure those duties which can seem restrictive if we handle our duties poorly. As a result, in addition to "duty" Capricorn/Saturn/10th house is also about the structures in our life. So the extended keyword is:

  • Capricorn/Saturn/10th house (duty, also career, authority, discipline, structure, restriction)

Aquarius/Uranus/11th house is about our friends, but also about the way we behave as individuals in remaking the world's social structures. As a result, in addition to "friends" Aquarius/Uranus/11th house is also about our social individuality and how we use that social individuality to restructure society. So the extended keyword is:

  • Aquarius/Uranus/11th house (friends, also innovation, independence, rebellion, unstructuring, restructuring, television, computers, Internet, astrology)

Pisces/Neptune/12th house is about our spirituality in the sense that we are all interconnected to each other and so this energy "dissolves" the boundaries that separate us from others: this interconnects us in things such as music but also makes it a challenge for us to maintain our sense of who we are so confusion or even idealization can become a challenge as well as drug addiction if we become overly attached to needing an intense feeling of being "connected" to others all the time. As a result, while spirituality and music is a helpful result Pisces/Neptune/12th house can also lead to various types of confusion including self-created confusion. So the extended keyword is:

  • Pisces/Neptune/12th house (spirituality, also music, artistry, subconscious, confusion, idealization, fantasy, media personality, drugs, addiction)

So keep in mind the "keyword" but after you understand the "keyword" archetype, let your mind open up to different ways to describe the same archetype.

Archetypally,

Tim

Can the Libran Venus ever translate to money as well?

...and yes, thanks for condensing this for us. I think I'll paste it to a document and print it out.

Happy birthday!

Acoustic,

Thanks for the birthday greetings!

I am trying to keep each sign/planet/house combinations with its own keywords. So, since Taurus already has "money", I don't want to give it to Libra. In addition, I think of money as a more "physical" thing than relationship-oriented Libra.

Keeping it fair and balanced,

Tim
