I've noticed that there seems to be some confusion on Singletons. Some very well respected Astrologers including Bob Marks will call a single planet in an element or mode a Singleton. I've never used this term for that, I've always thought of that as just lacking an element or mode. My reasoning is that although you may only have one planet in a water sign like Uranus in Scorpio, the chances are that you will have planets in a water house (4, 8, or 12) this will compensate for the lack of water in your chart.

With Astrology nothing is etched in stone (if it were, I would have read it long ago )and there is much to be said for interpretation, thats what I'm here for, to keep you on track, but ultimately you will use what works for you. Below is a piece on singletons from Sakoian and Ackers' book Predictive Astrology.

A Singleton is one planet isolated from the other planets. This particular planet stands alone in the hemisphere in which it is found-it is the only planet east or west of the Midhaven/Nadir axis, or the only planet above or below the horizon.

A Singleton planet is a very signifant factor in interpreting the natal horoscope. Because it stands alone, it acts as a focusing terminal in the hemisphere in which it is found. The affairs ruled by the house in which a Singleton is found are subject to intensive activity characterized by the Singleton planet.

Who all has a Singleton? List them.
If you chose to use a single element or mode, thats fine but list any planets in the coresponding houses.(element or mode house)

curious, I have all my planets on the southern hemisphere of my chart except for my Gemini moon in the 9th house.

Does this count as a singleton?

If chart info is needed, I can list it.

good work winged feet, thats exactly what I mean. In astrology the southern hemisphere is houses 7-12 and the northern hemisphere is 1-6. Just opposite of how we read a geography map. Top is South Bottom is North. If your Moon is in the 9th house then all of your planets are in the Northern Hemisphere. I'll give you both definitions

If the Moon is the singleton above the horizon or in the Southern Hemisphere of the chart, and the other 9 planets are below the horizon or Northern Hemisphere, the individual personal and subjective tendencies (indicated by the 9 planets below the horizon) are expressed through an intense emotional involvement, in public affairs, especially as these relate to financial and family security.

If the moon is singleton below the horizon or in the northern hemisphere, and the other 9 planets are above the horizon or the southern Hemisphere, the public concerns of the individual (indicated by the other 9 planets in the southern Hemisphere or above the horizon) are focused through intense emotional involvement in personal subjective issues related to emotional, family, or financial security.

i like winged feet have all my planets in the southern hemisphere, and i don't seem to be having any singletons, unless you count my aries asc, which is in the north of course.
and if the placidus system is used,my pluto in scorpio falls in the 7th house, and i have no other planets there.did i get that right lal?
and lal,i'm sorry to bother you in this post about it,but i'm really not getting the minor aspects thingy i just understand which planets in my chart are inconjunct, but i don't get how to calculate the other aspects,so could you give me an example or two of the other minor aspects from my chart?
that might make things more clear...
thanks

oops... I meant, i have all planets in houses 12-5. (which would be northern). Houses 6,7,8,10,11 are empty.

And my moon is all by itself in the 9th.

I have a question though. Is there a separation of degrees when looking for singletons? I mean, is there a minimum, of say 60 degrees?

OK Goober I posted something on calculating the distance between the planets I want you to study it and we'll do them together, but for now I peaked at your chart and you have no singleton because we don't use the nodes as singletons but if we did your N.N would be yours. Your minor aspects are (theres probably more, so you double check )
Saturn semi-squares Neptune and the M.C (45)(this is 2 aspects)
Jupiter and the Sun make a decile (36)
Uranus and Neptune/M.C (this is 2 aspects) makes a vigintile (18)
There is also another important minor aspect that I didn't list and I should have, its a 24 degree aspect called a tridecile, I will go back and add it.

Winged feet 60 degrees would be minimum, more like a trine (120) though.

I have a bucket chart so would my Moon in the 1st house be considered a singleton?

Apart from that Libra Venus and Virgo Mars are also singletons, by element.

I have a bucket chart as well...

Singletons::
Moon (the handle) in Leo, 10th house
Mars in Aquarius (only planet in air), 4th house
Neptune in Capricorn in the 3rd house (only planet in Earth, AS WELL, as the only cardinal sign in my chart)

------------------
Libra Rising, Scorpio Sun, Leo Moon
