Hello! I hope this is the right place for my question. It is about interceptions in the 1st house. If there is a sign intercepted in the 1st house, is it like the person has two ascendant signs? Will a person "filter" life's events through both of these signs, or just the one that is actually on the ascendant? Will both signs be obvious in the outer personality and appearance of the individual? I hope I've made my question(s) clear, and hope someone will know how this affects things. Thanks! IP: Logged |

For me it is as you stated. I definitely feel a combination of Aquarian/Piscean energy which I project outward upon first meeting. But I also have had my ASC progress into the intercepted sign (Pisces), and I have 3 planets in Pisces in the first. So I think, the intercepted sign is much more prominent if you have planets in the first in that sign as well. Maybe you would see a more subtle influence if that weren't the case.IP: Logged |

Hi LuckyLeo, I don't have too much to add but I'll give my thoughts on the matter. The sign on the ASC is static for all intents and purposes (assuming correct tob), its ruler will be prominent, etc. As one ages the ASC progresses as was already mentioned so that can be a factor. I've often seen when another sign takes over the vast majority of the 1st, that the person identifies much more with that sign than the one on the ASC. If that's a matter of an incorrect birth time, whose to say. But it's often experienced in that way. Typically it's said that intercepted planets are hard to access for the native. But when an ASC progresses to conj a natal planet it brings it to prominence in some way. Just as when planets in the 12th (so-called 'hidden') progress or solar arc to conj the ASC, and subsequently travel through the 1st. So possibly look for health/physical/attitude changes at these times. The appearance is dependent on more than just the ASC sign, so you see variation for each, esp. when you take into account the ASC ruler. But the appearance, body is in general ruled by H1. IP: Logged |

Inthemisosoup, Ami, and Lonake,Thank you for your responses! I hadn't thought about how important progressions can be. My ascendant is at the end of the sign, so it progressed into the next sign early in my life. I'm a Capricorn rising with Aqua intercepted, with no planets in Aquarius. I got very confused because I tried to research this online and found very contradicting ideas. First I read that interceptions are locked energies - so that sounds like the energy just lays dormant. But then I read that an interception in the 1st house is very important to the individual, and the ruler of the intercepted sign is a Co-Ruler of the chart. So that makes it sound like it's almost a second rising sign. So, completely opposing ideas. If anyone would like to answer, I'm curious how important you think the ruler of the intercepted sign is. Is it a chart ruler? Is it important or just another planet in the chart? I really appreciate the imput. I'm relatively new to astrology so I am trying to figure this stuff out! Thanks again! If an entire sign is intercepted in the 1st then I'd consider it's ruler as a secondary ASC ruler. This is assuming an accurate tob.IP: Logged |

Ok thank you Lonake. Good to know. And I hear you about the tob. I'm using the one on my birth certificate (hopefully it's correct).IP: Logged |

This is an interesting thread. I'm glad someone posted about it bc when I use placidus I end up with my 6th and 12th houses intercepted and I as well can find very little info on it. Funny google can usually find anything for me If u go to sexualastrology.com u will find they have interpretations for signs on the cusps of the 5th, 7th, and 8th houses. I know this isn't exactly relevant since this post is about the 1st house but I just wanted to pass the info along. Bc I have found there is some truth with my intercepted houses and how they change some other house cusps in my chart. In my placidus chart I have pisces intercepted in my 12th house. Altho I have no planets in pisces, its just the house ruler there. How does that play out? IP: Logged |

Hey ShyVirgo, Thanks for joining the thread, I'm glad someone else finds it interesting too!Thank you for passing along the website, I'll see what I can find there. Not sure if you've seen this one, but I found relevant info at Bobmarksastrologer.com. There's information on intercepted signs AND the duplicated signs. I'm not sure how your situation would play out with the pisces being intercepted. Maybe someone else will understand and be able to help. IP: Logged |

hi i fit this thread too i have ASC Aquarius with a big 1st house intercepting pisces-virgo. Got venus conj lilith opposing vertex in virgo, chiron in leo conj DSC in the 7th, jupiter in libra still in the 7th. too, and saturn in the 12th, conj ASC by 3 deg.. some thoughts about my lesson regarding venus conj lilith oposing vertex in the intercepted pisces axis? I've got Pisces rising (Jupiter and Venus conjunct in Pisces in the 1st) with Aries intercepting in the 1st. That could explain a bit why people in my past looked at me like they could take advantage of me. The thing is, my Mars in is Capricorn in the 11th, and sextiles my Venus. With Jupiter in domicile, Venus exalted, and Mars exalted, that could, on the other hand, explain why over the years I've learned not to fall for others' schemes and ploys to take advantage of me. Friends of mine who know astrology have told me I do not have the naive look some Aries rising people might have. I've been told that I have a very world-weary look. Not ugly, lol, just world-weary. See for me, it's hard to say I have trouble incorporating Piscean energy or that I am not able to understand Pisces into myself because I have three planets there, one of them being my moon. I feel Pisces every day. i think, also, like Lonake said, all of pisces is intercepted so it acts as a secondary chart ruler, as well as pisces being my progressed ascendant for some time now (it progress into Aries at the end of this year!!). You are also supposedly having trouble integrating the planets of the intercepted signs. I have problems to an extent, but these planets are also highly afflicted (squares/t-squares galore because I have a stellium in Sagittarius and Chiron in Gemini). So of course they are hard to integrate. They are a struggle every day. I do feel as though I have trouble incorporating Virgoan energy. This is probably why i find myself attracted to Virgos, even more so than my DSC ruler Leo. I need their help being practical. I am so impractical sometimes. ^^;; IP: Logged |
