Chiron Conjunct the Moon
From the perspective of our lower nature, Chiron conjunct the moon indicates that, when things get too difficult or too painful, we tend to retreat within ourselves, taking a kind of paradoxical solace in our wounds. It can be a “feeling sorry for myself”, “poor me”, “look at me, I’m in pain”, and/or martyrdom posture. The sign and house placement of this aspect will give more clues as to the exact nature of the escape route and the specific nature of the wounds. The arena in which solace, escape, and/or avoidance is expressed can also be where the healing journey takes place. In its most evolved expression this aspect confers an emotional nature that, when confronted with difficulties or painful situations, seeks to escape or avoid the pain of the wound by immediately healing the wound and resolving the issues around it. This is certainly a blessing! Of course, the downside of this is never being able to truly escape or avoid our wounds.

I have this aspect, and found the following description from www.astrotherapy.eu/Chiron.htm incredibly spot on.

"Chiron/Moon aspect points out a "wound" caused by the mother. Mother was emotionally not able to take care of her Chiron/Moon. Probably mother was constantly over-critical and wounded Chiron/Moon so deep that lack of self-esteem is still a big issue on a daily basis. This is very sad of course. Thinking one is being criticized even when one is not, over-reacting to this imaginary "attacks". The adagum from Chiron/Moon here is "Save oneself first" do take care of oneself first. Give oneself what was not given to one during childhood. Become one's own mother. Be kind, loving and generous to oneself. Build a warm nest for oneself and create a 'soft place to fall'. Do give up the tendency to "mother" others. Let go of people who are not sensitive to one. Nurture oneself first!"

I'm guessing that everyone has their own opinion about their Chiron conjunct Moon, depending on what house/sign it is in and their aspects.

I don't agree much with either of the descriptions, except for the bit where the mother harms the Chiron/Moon conjunct and undermines their self-esteem. This theme seems to come back in both my father's and my own life, ironically I'm now best friends with my mother despite of what she did to me.

I have read descriptions mentioning abuse in early childhood and a difficult relationship with the mother. Back to the low self-esteem, it is hard to see where to draw the line, as I have both Chiron conjunct Moon and Saturn conjunct Sun. Which aspect gives me the lack of self-esteem? Both are equally able.

What I have noticed, at least in about 70% of the charts I looked at, is that Chiron conjunct Moon somehow seems to pop up with vocalists a lot of the time. That, of course, has nothing to do with wounds or self-esteem, but I thought I'd mention it.

I'm glad someone else was able to deal with this aspect and maintain a good relationship with his/her mother. As for me, this conjunction is even squared by venus, another classic sign of conflict with the mother. Must be karma.

Belgz,

Out of curiousity, how tight is the orb for your brother's moon/chiron conjunction? And in which house/sign?

Can you say that the wound from the mother affected or felt more intensly by your brother? Or not really?
