Hello all and thank you for permitting me to enter this wonderful land of astrology. My question is: Ones saturn cycle happens every seven years. So how does one know when it actually starts? Thank you.

charm,

A "Saturn cycle" is the time it takes Saturn to return to the place it was at your birth. This time is different from person to person, but it is takes about 28-30 years. However, astrologers also look at "quarter cycles", times when Saturn squares or opposes itself. These occur about every 7 - 7 1/2 years.

Saturnally yours,

Tim

So one can say that the first Saturn return that happens every 28 - 30 earth years is like reaching adulthood, yes? Thus the reason some people see this event as negative due to the 'stuggles' they face but it is actually a period in which we learn much.

Which means that when one reaches the second Saturn return things would go more smoothly from the lessons experienced from the first cycle.

Some say that once your first Saturn return has been completed, basically, your character is more or less shaped as a fixed form, which deeply influences your values, perception, ethics or the lack of them, as well as the potential in you to be either ruthless and power-craving, power-abusive, or, has a strong sense of justice, integrity and conscience- something in between? It may seem that way, but western astrology's theories on Saturn return, esp the first one, coincides with what the ancient Chinese metaphysicists said about how the Hun (the part of the soul belonging to the higher complex of the four layers of the subtle bodies) would only completely arrive at the temple of the soul, i.e. the given human being- by/around the time she/he has reached her/his thirtieth year- and her/his basic character becomes "set" or "fixed" by then...

Worth pondering.
