Hello everyone, I am a new member to these forums. I read some things about my Astrological chart - which I had know idea there was such a thing, I suppose like most people I just thought I was my Sun sign and that was it. But I've found that that was clearly wrong. After viewing my chart and reading some information that was very true, I became even more intrigued. So now I want to learn all I can

While researching my Venus placement I stumbled across a thread here and found that everyone seems pretty knowledgeable on the subject of Astrology, so I feel that being here will be useful in helping my understanding.

Now I want to make it clear that I know very little about Astrology. I just learned my chart a few weeks ago, and I'm not exactly sure what the planets or placements mean.

So with the aforementioned, will someone kindly give me book suggestions or perhaps even general knowledge about Astrology? Tips to help me along with my research, perhaps? I'm unsure of where to start - though I plan on picking up some books.

Like what are these Nodes, houses, degrees, and all this other stuff? I figure the more I research, the more it'll make sense.

Heya Elm1230,

WELCOME TO LINDALAND!!!!!

To get you started, I would recommend some of the more noobie-friendly sites, like www.cafeastrology.com, www.astro.com (where you can compute your chart for free and as you progress learn about lots and lots of different types of charts you can look at), www.astrology-numerology.com (good for numerology also). There are a couple of others, but this is just so you can get started.
There are lots of books for beginners out there, I personally wouldn't know which one to recommend to you, as I live in Europe and when I started studying astrology, I had different books. So I never actually bought beginner books in English. Parker's astrology seems ok-ish for newbies to astrology, I think. But in my opinion, perhaps it would be better for now to browse the Internet, there is a lot of free info available out there. If you think the sites I recommended are no longer satisfying your knowledge hunger, you can always just Google "Venus in the 3rd house" or "Saturn square Mercury", for example and find lots of other sites I may not even have heard of.

I hope you will enjoy your journey through the mysteries of astrology! ^_^ Don't forget we are always here if you have questions and many people enjoy helping and teaching - speaking of that, you might also want to check Brown Owl School Forum, where teachers post various lessons about esoteric subjects, including Astrology. As you can see, the source for knowledge is very diverse, so it might be better for you to browse around and see which fits you best.

Good luck and hope to see you posting more in here!

Thank you for the Welcome, and the information. I've already found my chart, so I'm that much closer, lol! I'll definitely be checking out the websites and books you've recommended.

For anyone who wishes to reply to my thread. I actually have a quick question. My chart reveals that my Ascendant Sign is 00 degrees in Leo. What exactly does that mean? Did I do something wrong with my calculations?

Welcome Elm
I think you should try to feel out each sign. Think about people you know with each sign. Then, try to feel out the domain of each planet. Just jump in, as we all have to learn this new language but it will be the best time of your life imo
