I don't know whether this is the conventional approach, but I check for outer and transpersonal planets first i.e Pluto, Neptune and Uranus then Saturn, Jupiter and Mars etc.Right now, Pluto sits in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries.
I'd say watch the interaction between Pluto and your Mars(the opposition by sign may produce interesting results) especially when the transit gets closer and closer in aspect to your natal Mars.
Then look at the house where your Mars is in and note if there are any changes therein(you can look at the generic relationships of your life ofcourse, but I mean more specifically the house/relationship area that Mars is in).
For instance, My Mars is squaring transiting Pluto by sign and not close enough in aspect yet in the 6th house.
My discipline with regards to 6th house issues is not only increasing, but I am more "results focused". I want to see the tangible outcome of my channelled energies in this area. One of the areas that 6th house rules is health and fitness. I've been working out for quite some time now(years) but I was never fcused so much on results as I always belived that everything will come in "due time" etc.
But now, it seems I am more critical of my regiment and becoming more obsessed with seeing some real progress. I've even shifted my diet to exclude all the things I've eaten before whilst gymning.
Pluto intensifies Mars energy and so any projects Mars starts, Pluto infuses a lot of intesity, focus and passion into completing them. You can say that Pluto can make Mars very "essential minded" in their view and look at only that which is relevant. No energy will be wasted on "silly" ventures etc.
With the square(by sign) it suggests that Capricorn(the sign where Pluto is transiting) insists and is even obsessive(Pluto) about concrete action and measurable outcomes(Capricron), whilst Libra(the natal sign where my Mars is) is caught in the fundamental decison making and ensuring that all the information is looked at wholistically and there is no impulsiveness to long-term decision making.
The added transit conjunction with my natal Mercury(in this instance, closer in aspect to Pluto) makes me think long, deeply and painstakingly at information I need to make an informed decision on(which lengthens the decision-making process).
The good news is, I am getting clearer about the relevant and irrelevant stuff in decisons I make. And definately more assertive when they are made.
The not-so good news is, I require all the little bits of information and go into extensive analysis about every little thing: Nothing goes without being heavily scrutinized etc
You must also look at other cardinal placements in your chart ie Capricorn, Libra and Aries.
It is likely that Pluto and Uranus in Capricorn and Aries respectively, will effect the areas where that cardinal energy is found.
