The Third Step To Understanding House Rulers By amiann | Published: February 17, 2012 | Memorize the sphere of influence of each House. Know each house as well as you can. After this, House Rulers will be, relatively, easy. Without a fluid understanding of what each house rules, you will struggle. Like anything else in Astrology, doing is learning. Try to do charts and ask people, if you are right. As you know, there are many levels to a chart. House Rulers is a study of House to House interaction, so if something does not seem right, there will be other factors to explain it, beyond House Rulers. However, with the correct time, House Rulers are, rarely, wrong, in my experience. To pull back and explain House Rulers, so we do not lose the forest for the trees. The purpose of House Rulers is to show the SPHERES of life which are important to a person and how they interact to make up that person’s world ,world view and literal life experience. We do not deal with the IDENTITY of planets, here. Planets are, simply, identified as “Ruler of the First House”, “Ruler of the Second House” etc. So, if one person’s “Ruler of the First House” is the Moon and another persons “Ruler of the First House” is Pluto, it makes no difference. ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Well, Saturn will do that based on the house it is in, so it fits Any other questions?

My chart ruler is Pluto which is in the Tenth house in my chart. Does this make me overly ambitious and prone to bossy and tyrannical behaviour?? I can't really see it in myself, although I can be a little headstrong. IP: Logged |

Well, this is IMPORTANT. When we are doing strictly chart rulers, the planets do not matter, as far as their identity. It is house, house, house. So, you have chart ruler in the 10th meaning career and your reputation(place in society) will always be important to you.

Hi Ami Anne, A very happy new year to you and great to see your posts on house rulers. I intend to follow and learn. So far - I have Leo ascendant, so my chart ruler is the Sun, which resides in the 3rd house. In fact, I have a stellium in the 3rd house (sun, mars, mercury, neptune) so that would truly make it an important one for me. I read that this is the house of communication and with Mercury positioned here, it would become doubly so, wouldn't it? It's also the house of primary education (yes?) - well I trained as a teacher and now write and publish, train teachers etc. So communication is all important in my work. Do chart rulers have any other role other than indicating an important house? IP: Logged |

Yes, your Chart ruler will be a very important planet for you in every chart you do. In synastry, your chart ruler should touch the other person's chart ruler for one of the best things you can have in synastry. You will look at your chart ruler in many, many different ways, some of which are too advanced for me, so I can't elaborate on them. Ceri would be better at this, if she is around and sees this!
