Hey guys, I am trying to understand what it means to have empty houses. Can anyone tell me about the significance of empty houses, and/or suggest some links for me to read about this?

I would tend to agree with Ami, the exceptions are the houses that hold your nodal axis, those are very important. Also an empty house will of course at some point receive a transit, wait for that transit to touch off a natal planet/luminary to see how it's working through that house, as like mentioned, it will tend to be an energy that you're not familiar with.

Empty houses also have rulers, which you will need, to see where the energy of that house is being directed.
For example I have an empty 11th, with its ruler Venus in the 6th, one interpretation could be that I talk about my diet habits at work with my co-workers, whom I regard as friends. That is true to an extent, since I am a vegetarian, so at lunch my eating habits stand out to my friends at work, since I tend to be the only one with that diet! It has to be said Venus also squares the ruler of my 6th (Saturn), so I do believe that adds to my awkwardness whenever they bring up my diet I never bring it up, but they always eye my plate with suspicion I always wish people would stop bugging me about what I eat ~!
