I went to Astro.com and looked up my progressed chart. I was shocked!

Pretty much every single personal planet and Asc is a different sign! I was born with several planets (half?) late in degrees.

So I read an explanation about progressed charts and it indicated that we change to become the personality of our progressed chart. But I always hear (see ) people referring to their natal. I myself, also identify with my natal chart very much.
So that said, I don't clearly understand the purpose of the progressed chart.
Seems like a bit of conflict there between the charts.
