Hi all,I am just at a stage in my life where I am trying to understand a bit more about myself and the experiences that I am facing. I have been on to Astro.com to obtain a few charts, however I have noticed that there are quite a few I know the basics of the first three listed, but there are others that have thrown me a bit because they produce a completely different chart! Anyone care to breakdown what each are for/what they can do or share insight on and maybe even the most important ones? 1. Natal Chart 2. Synastry Chart 3. Composite Chart 4. Davidson Relationship Chart 5. Multi-Composite Chart 6. Progressed Chart (of any kind) ------------------ If not me, who? * Sun: Gemini Asc: Scorpio Moon: Aries Mars: Aries Venus: Taurus Mercury: Gemini IP: Logged |

Natal is when you were born. Synastry is yours and another's compared. Composite takes the middle reading between two charts. Progressed is a day for a year unfolding prediction method. Not familiar with the rest. Transits are what's happening in the sky right now, and how it affects what you were born with. IP: Logged |

This is really interesting. For a progressed chart, do you have to ask a specific question? like a horary chart - are they the same thing?

Horary is of the hour, you take a chart for the moment a question is asked.Progressions are happening all the time, they are based on the first few months following your birth. Solar Arc is a similar process. IP: Logged |

1. Natal Chart- its what you are born with and predisposed to, sort of like your genetic make up or DNA. Transits activate your natal so is like the environment interacting with your genes determining how the genes will ultimately be expressed so I see transits interacting with the natal like epigenetics on the works.2. Synastry Chart-relationship compatibility chart. Is there attraction? You check this first. 3. Composite Chart- relationship compatibility that uses the midpoints of the planets between two people. You check this second. Can this last long term? 4. Davidson Relationship Chart- composite chart that uses the midpoint between two birthdates. 5. Multi-Composite Chart: uses more than two people. Like the relationship dynamic of parents and a child or a love triangle. 6. Progressed Chart (of any kind): Secondary progressed shows how your personality evolves throughout time as outside factors also influence personality not just genetics or what you are born with. This in combo with transits and solar arcs can be used for prediction by analyzing how all 3- transits, progression and solar arc interact with the natal. IP: Logged |

Awesome Wow --did not know that about davidson, H.
What do you think of it compared to the regular Comp?

The midpoints are actually based on the existing physical positions of the planets between two charts. Davidson refers to the planetary positions that were in the middle of time and space between two people's birthday and thus are suppose to be more responsive to transits. I have personally not looked into Davidson all that much so I can't really say with certainty which is better. I have always used and focused more on midpoint composites. I personally find that midpoint composite fits more and describe my relationships much better and is why I have not focused on Davidson much but Davidson is suppose to be more responsive to transits and I would personally use it to get more insight. Very helpful!Thank you to all who have contributed! The Davison v. Composite chart debate really is something. Still trying to get to grips with how to read them alongside eachother. Here's a question that is slightly off topic, can one obtain a synastry chart which is purely asteroid focused? If so, where from? ------------------ When in doubt, ask questions. ❤ Sun: ♊, Asc: ♏, Moon: ♈, Mars: ♈, Venus: ♉, Mercury: ♊, Jupiter: ♋ IP: Logged |

I use multi-composite a lot for groups at work, socially or with families. For instance, in group therapy it will show if a session would be more effective with or without a particular person being present. In consultation it will show which practitioners will work best together. For musical groups it will show which band members to include for best compatibility. Same for small clubs, workshops, gatherings or meetups. It is excellent for business and executive meetings. IP: Logged |

Sounds extremely interesting! Would definitely be useful for my family if I knew everyone's TOB!

Even without time of birth you can input 12 noon to get the aspects but the houses won't be accurate. IP: Logged |
