The Solar Return Chart is actually a regular 'chart of the moment' type of snapshot of the sky read at the peak precise moment that the transiting Sun (that day) conjuncts the exact-exact degree of your natal Sun. This is also called your Sun Conjunct Sun transit.
Astrodienst has added another feature to its "Celestial Events" rundown. They've begun to include YOUR main transits that day (based upon your geographic location), with date range there; and some of your current Long Term transits, with date range there too. ~~
For my own 'Sun-conjunct-Sun' transit, the type is hyperlinked in the Celestial Events. When I clicked the link, it drew up the EXACT chart (for my location right here right now) for the peak of that transit. ..... The "time" on the name/Sun-conjunct-Sun is "the same" time as the *Solar Return Chart* option found in the 'Please select type of chart you want' drop-box.
The graphic wheel chart of your SR (*Solar Return Chart*) is "location-dependent" snapshot of "Chart of the Moment." Uses the "Reference Place" you've chosen, in order to calculate the Ascendant and houses.
Some people like to travel to different locales (Reference Place) to have their Return Sun cast in a different house.
Use whatever search engine you like, to find articles by astrologer Bob Marks who wrote his observations concerning the effects of traveling on your Birthday to receive the Sun 'imprint' chart of your SR planets in those houses geographically. Focuses on 'issue' you may want to energize and tackle at this time in your life. Can enhance benefic angles, or maybe dissipate the less-desirable ones.
The transiting positions of the other planets (and moon, objects, etc) are noted within each house... like it's a regular chart. This is the objective snapshot of the WHOLE sky pattern occurring as the transiting Sun happens to reach the exactness of YOUR natal Sun's FULL Degree.
The astrodienst *Natal Chart and Solar Return* shows a wheel of your natal chart, with the little green objects scattered around the outside wheel symbolizing the transit positions of planets at the time of the 'exact' sun conjunct sun degree.
Another chart choice *Natal and Solar Return Chart, with Houses* renders a chart that looks blue, with natal chart in the center. Objects in the outer wheel are the transits, and the houses they fell in during your 'local geographic chart of moment'-- contrasted to your own natal chart. There are no aspect lines drawn, in this particular rendering. Symbols are in black ink except for the zodiac-sign symbols.
Hope this helps.
Happy Solar Returns to ALL
