How does an astrologer determine the signs and degrees that will be affected the most for a specific transit? For example, the upcoming Mars RX will affect 23 degrees Scorpio to 8 degrees Sagittarius. How do they come up with that? Also, if a transiting outer planet aspects your natal outer planet, will that have less of an affect compared to a transiting outer planet aspecting your natal inner planet? For example, transit Saturn conjunct natal Uranus VS transit Saturn conjunct natal Mercury I figured the Saturn conjunct Uranus would affect the entire population more than the individual? For the retrogrades:That area (Scorpio to Sag) will be traversed three different times during this cycle. They call it the shadow area. Forward run-thru, back-up over the same area, then consequent follow-up run. As a general case it is highlighted, then events occur and are finally resolved. In that order. As to other transits: When the outers are in aspect to one another, it affects many for long periods of time (Uranus square Pluto has been loads of fun) especially if it hits you personally. That was all the cardinals (cancer, cap, Libra aries.) I have taken note that when you have two planets being transited in tandem, that is to say Pluto hitting Venus concurrent with Venus hitting Pluto (for example) it is certain to cause changes. I've observed it in action many times. IP: Logged |

But how do astrologers determine the exact degrees that will be affected? I guess I should have made my question more clear and the outers transiting outers - affects people personally only if you have cardinal signs - so what if you have Aries ASC, would it affect you greatly then? Or is it only considered the Sun sign? IP: Logged |

With regards to the retrograde question, astrologers make estimationsThere are the "major" aspects. Conjunctions- same sign as planet in retrograde. But also within a "reasonably" close orb to it example: Saturn in Sag 23 Deg transit conjunct natal Sun in Sag 29 Deg ( orb of 6 degrees). This orb is said to be reasonable for some but others can make it as wide as possible i.e up to 10 degrees. So once again, Transiting Saturn 23 Deg Sag conjunct Cap 03 Degrees. This is what u would call an "out of sign" conjunction. In my view, the closer the orb the more potent. And when its exact ie. Saturn Sag 23 deg conjunct Sun Sag 23 Deg etc. Now consider that Gemini, Pisces and Virgo will also be affected. Also in the same range of degrees mentioned above. It may also affect Aries,Leo and Aquarius,Libra in the same degrees but usually with what is noted as less "dramatic" effects. I IP: Logged |
