Nothing I read pointed to those having specific meanings (such as other asteroids, unless your mum named you Chiron and then, ok, your named asteroid is a thing in itself) and most of them have quite common given names so... is it even astrology to take those into account?
I mean, I don't have one with my exact name, so what should I do, pick the closest option and call it relevant? Just pick any asteroid and see what it touches and decide whatever it means? (asking because once my friend's cat walked on the keyboard and I ended up finding out some 999999 asteroid that was conjunct someone else's in synastry and to this day I have no sodded idea what that bloody is lol)
It sounds like some desperate attempt to find and see meaning where there's only hazard.
And I don't mean that in a judging way, I mean this in a frightened way as astrology already has enough of a poor reputation without needing to make it come off as some way to predict people's hair texture or income.
So, how do named asteroid "work" (if they do)?

Hi!!!

I personally find name asteroids to be very accurate. I have my first name in my 2nd house opposing my Venus and my last name inside my 1st house conjunct my AC by 2 degrees. I usually use my surname asteroid because that’s what I found to be the most accurate in my readings (synastry, composites etc) also my surname is not a common one, I barely know anybody who has this name.
If for example you can’t find your specific name asteroid in astro.com I would recommend looking for something that sounds similar. Example: if your name is Erica, you could use Erika, Ericka... whatever option is available. For one of my friends, his last name is Beckham, there is no Beckham in astro.com but instead I was able to find Beckman. Sounds similar and falls right next to one of his angles/axis conjunct his AC ruler.

Thank you so much for this, that's very interesting
I can imagine not relating because nothing "feels" close enough to my names, but do you have any idea how it actually works? Is there some form of implication that your planets would influence your parents into picking your name or something?
Even if I found an asteroid with a close enough name (though, if it's my pick, couldn't I simply just pick any asteroid and decide its placement shall be meaningful?), I'm puzzled by the how it connects to me, I can take planets being in a certain spot when I was born as a massive influence on me, surroundings affecting me makes me sense, but of all asteroids, there being a connection to me through a name chosen by someone else, and an asteroid which name was also chosen by someone entirely alien to me or the people who chose my name, how does it connect?
(I'm going to toy with asteroids around the sounds/looks of my names and see if grace happens )
