Okay, this is a celebrity case, but still. I made a mistake with the database and accidentally checked out my synastry with a celebrity I wasn't interested in instead of the one I have a lil crush on. And you won't believe what it looked like--aspect-wise. Here's a taste of the big picture:

His Sun sextile my Moon
His Venus sextile my Sun
His Sun sextile my Venus
His Sun sextile my Jupiter
His Mars conj my Sun
His Pluto conj my Venus
His Moon conj my Mars
His Venus square my Mars
His Jupiter trine my Mars
My Pluto square his Sun
My Pluto conj his Mars
His Vertex conj my Sun
My Asc conj his Sun
His Asc trine my Moon
My Eros sextile his Venus

Kind of fantabulous, huh?
The trick is--he does nothing for me. I don't know what kind of reaction I would have caused if we met, but I'm not attracted to him at all. I wouldn't pick him out in a crowd as a guy to possibly date.
Whywhywhy?

Then I decided to analyze the simple
structures, relying on elements and signs instead of aspects.

Our Suns are both in Water.
His Moon is in Fire, mine in Air.
His Venus is in the same sign as mine.
His Mars is in Air, mine in Fire.

So far, the result is the same: good combo.
Yet I'm still feeling totally meh about him. I'm not repulsed or anything, he's somewhat cute--but there is a distinct lack of interest. Not my type.

Okay, time for the third method.

I have a Sag Mars and a Scorpio Sun. I'm a heterosexual girl. Thus, I'm supposed to be attracted to guys with important Sag placements and some Scorpio traits. Or at least to hot men (with some Fire placements, I mean XD) and some Water ones. (I'm actually pretty attracted to the Leo-Aries-Leo-Scorpio guy my friend from next theme over likes, heehee, not gonna do anything about it though.)

This celebrity has a Sag Moon and an Aries Saturn. That's it. The rest of his chart is all about Sun in Cancer, more Cancer, Virgo and Libra. His Mars is in Libra, so his "sexual energy" is supposed to have a Cancer-Libra flavor, nothing Sag-like about it. The only Scorpio placement in his chart is Neptune, and that's a slow planet, tons of people have it.

According to this method, nope, I'm not supposed to be strongly attracted to him at all. As it actually is.

But isn't the aspects method supposed to be the most precise one? Yet when I look at the aspects, I see a wonderful, warm, sexy synastry. Is it the lack of opposites and squares that makes it so lukewarm in reality?

Attractions run the gamut. Thinking of how many are born on the planet hour-to-hour -- that's a LOT of people. You MIGHT be attracted to someone with the same date.

I think we meet the ones we do for a purpose. That helps cut down on 'false positives'.

Excellent question, though! One I looked into awhile back, also a bit perplexed.

Yeah, I call this "theoretical couples." A friend of mine analyzed a real life one awhile back: her friend and her sister. They knew each other for years, neither made a move, they didn't even become actual friends. Yet their synastry was scintillating. Soulmates-omg-fated marriage kind of synastry.
