One more topic from me today, heh. But as I was delving into a synastry with a certain guy, I discovered a curious thing. My Ascendant trines his Moon and Mercury, conj his Jupiter and yet it squares both his Venus and his Cupid. I know you can't analyze a relationship from a single point, but I wonder how it is supposed to play out? He likes my ego, my knowledge, my emotional nature, but hates the way I look? Lol I know I'm making it sound too simple. Let's make it more complicated, shall we? His Venus squares my Ascendant His Cupid squares my Ascendant yet His Venus conj my Sun His Venus conj my Mercury His Venus conj my Cupid His Cupid conj my Sun So, he both likes and hates the way I look? He's both attracted to me and repulsed by me? OMG I want you in my bed right now -- noooo get away from me!? IP: Logged |

Squares aren't repulsion, they're friction. They cause action -- sometimes immediate.I've noticed that squares to the ASC can create anything from tension to a cause for action. Personally, I rather like the sextiles and trines. I have a SUN sextile VENUS-ASC in one synastry (2º); his PSYCHE is also conjunct by 2º. In another, my SUN-PLUTO-BML trine his ASC by 2º. Very loose PLUTO sextile ASC in yet another (5º) -- but his VALENTINE sextiles by 2º, which gives it a little oomph. My MARS is also sextile his by 0º. Of course, the conjunctions will always get the most attention -- VERTEX conjunct the ASC (double whammy! 8º and 0º). Incredibly significant relationship. As to squares ... Well, my MOON-URA squares my husband's ASC -- 3º. We noticed each other quickly. It was a mostly easygoing relationship with sudden outbreaks of tension. Once we began dating, however, it became very passionate, but very volatile until we worked through some very major issues. His MOON squares my ASC, too, by 5º. Guess the feeling's mutual? Physical attraction was never an issue, though. Not for a millisecond. (His VENUS also sextiles my ASC by 0º; my VENUS is super-loosely conjunct his -- 10º; I wouldn't count it, if it weren't for the DW.) Don't doubt the power of the minor aspect, either. I've got a sesquisquare with someone's EROS to my ASC; we noticed each other VERY quickly! Plus, my EROS is parallel his ASC. Yep -- very, very quickly! (He's the same one whose PSYCHE is conjunct it by 2º.) And my Twin's MARS-PSYCHE is quindecile my VENUS-ASC. While it's 1º my VENUS, it's exact to my ASC. So far, I've not seen ASC squares, or even hard aspects in synastry to one's ASC to indicate repulsion, revulsion, or disapproval. It just makes things happen QUICKLY, or you notice each other -- FAST. Especially when the orb is tight. IP: Logged |

Rookie attempting this so FWIW...
On first glance, something caught his eye, but he wasn't sure he liked it (Venus and Cupid squares Ascendant) On getting to know you he likes you (Sun conjunct) On opening up fully he integrates the look into how he feels about you (Moon and Mercury trine) ?!? IP: Logged |

My Venus squared an Ex's AC...it was instant heat and attraction for us, I could t get enough of the way he walked, moved his hands, his eyes everything about him made me feel warm n fuzzy...among other things. I noticed him starring at me a lot, esp when I was distracted in conversation, working or driving...he wouldn't take his eyes off me. Id try to pretend I didn't notice because I loved it, if he knew I caught him he'd stop! His AC was square my AC, but not close...approx 6 degrees IP: Logged |

I'm gonna agree with what everyone else said. Venus square Ascendant can be heated attraction. I think for some people it might even be better than a Venus-Asc. conjunction. Case in point: I remember wondering what it would be like to have a guy's Venus on my Asc. I thought it must be the greatest thing in the history of synastry! However, I finally came across a guy who's Venus was smack on my Ascendant, I'm talking 0° applying super exact...Then to add to it, my Mars conjunct my Asc. by less than 1°, so his Cancer Venus was conj. my Asc. 0° and my Mars 0°. Did I want to ravish him and make beautiful babies? I would've thought so before then. Instead, here's what my reaction was... I thought he was the most feminine, girly looking male I had ever laid eyes on. He literally was prettier than me. He was stunningly beautiful, but as in "he could put on a dress and makeup and be a supermodel beautiful," not as in, "Ohmygoodness he's a dreamboat" beautiful. There was simply no way on Earth I could be sexually attracted to him. I actually thought to myself, "Good grief! I'd hurt him in bed. He looks so delicate and fragile." He wasn't gay, he just looked very feminine to me. I don't think other people saw him the same way I did, so I do think it was his Cancer Venus being right on my Asc. and Mars causing the impression. Funnily enough, I've seen this actor who I thought the same exact thing about. His name is Douglas Booth. When I first saw him, I thought, Wow. He looks beautiful... too beautiful. The same way... Like a female model beautiful. His facial features look so feminine to me it's striking. He looks like Keira Knightley to me, very feminine and delicate looking. His Venus is Cancer 24°34 My Asc. is Cancer 24°24 My Mars is Cancer 23°34 I think Cancer being a feminine sign only compounds the problem. All I know is, if a guy has his Cancer Venus right on my Asc.- Mars, I'm probably gonna find him too softly beautiful and delicate looking. Venus trine that spot is nice, though. Nothing is as attention getting as the hard aspects, though. A square or opposition to there can send shockwaves through me. Like the others mentioned, I think the square can work in your favor. I think that squares also help prevent boredom from setting in over time. It's like that square tension keeps the sparks flying like banging flint and steel together. IP: Logged |

Yeah, it seems there is nothing to worry about. And Venus square Sun never tampered attraction for me, either. I had a whirlwind romance in which we had DW tight Venus square Sun. I did find him beautiful, and he obviously didn't think I was ugly, either. IP: Logged | |
