What is the MAXIMUM orb that may be used when considering aspects between two planets (or asteroids) ? I know that most beginners are advised to keep the orbs tight (3 degrees typically), but in your practical experience, do wider orbs (8 to 10 degrees) make any sort of impact ? What about orbs when considering aspects between the luminaries and a planet / asteroid ?

My other questions pertains to the "nature" (for lack of a better word) of the synastry. For example, as a beginner, I am not sure what to make of quincuxes and semi-sextiles at all ! How do these aspects affect the synastry between two people ? Do they matter ? Are they mild / negligible aspects ? Hard aspects ? I don't find a lot of info on quincuxes and semi-sextile aspects at all out there, so was wondering if they don't matter even if they are between two "power-houses" - say Mars and Pluto, for instance ?

Finally, what about quindecile aspects ? Is this a a hard aspect, especially when one partner's Sun / Moon is involved ? How, for instance, would a Sun quindecile Saturn play out in synastry ? Is this another "glue-like" relationship ?

Thank you for your time and feedback.

Hi, can you share what your relationship is with the person with whom you have a Sun quindecile Saturn symastry ? Is s/he a friend / family / relative / love interest etc ?

I am brand new to astrology but what I learned is that the quindecile aspect indicates great obsession. Since Sun - Saturn symastry usually indicates a long term relationship, I suspect that Sun quindecile Saturn would indicate an LTR with some obsessiveness / possessiveness on the part of the Saturn person (as Saturn is usually more vested in any relationship than the Sun).

This is just my speculation. Hopefully, people more knowledgable would answer / weigh in.

It's a love interest. It's his sun quindecile my saturn.
In synastry his saturn is widely opposite my sun and composite has sun conjunct saturn.

Intuitive, are you obsessed with him by any chance ? Can you post your individual charts and the composite ? Also, what house is his Sun and your Saturn in, in your respective charts ? Just curious.

It's a 2 way obsession but complicated.
We are not together. His birth time unknown so the charts would only show my correct houses. Saturn in my sixth natally. His sun & saturn falls in my first house (he has them conjunct natally). They are also fairly close to my Asc but wide so there are mixed opinions on whether they are felt.

Sun and Ascendant and to a lesser extent Descendant in the same sign in synastry is definitely felt, regardless how far apart they are and not only in romantic terms.
For instance, of my five closest friends four of them cover the Aries/Libra axis. I am Libra Sun/Aries Ascendant.
Two of them have Libra rising, one is a Libra Sun and one Aries Sun.
The fifth has her Ascendant in Virgo near my Mars-Venus conjunction (my Asc and Dsc rulers).
And someone very special to me has his Sun and Venus widely conjunct my Ascendant.

Wow, with all that Saturn - Sun symastry, it appears that you are bound together for a long time ! Is this your ex-husband with whom you posted the charts in another thread ?

It appears that your Saturn conjuncts his Moon and his Mars conjuncts your Ascendant ? Was he very blunt / abrasive ?? You said in the other thread that you felt emotionally unfulfilled in the marriage, but your Saturn also conjuncts his Moon, so did he complain that you were very critical of him and emotionally restrictive ?

The thing with the quindecile as I am learning is that it is very obsessive and not in a good way. That may explain why you have such a hard time getting over him (believe me, I am in the exact same boat as you are, our composite is horrible, actually).

Nope. The other synastry I posted is my ex. Def not obsessed with him! Just astrologically doing case studies on relationships gone bad....

The one I'm talking about in this thread is a connection who's been in my life for almost 2 years now. I chase he runs, he chases I run. Timing is always off with us. We have decent synastry & a pretty crappy composite. But his birth time is unknown so that could potentially put the puzzle pieces together astrologically.
It's confusing

Mars - Venus quincunxes sometimes raise problems with timing. How is your Mars - Venus synastry ?
