I just saw that someone revived Ami's old post about her mother's Sado conjunct moon aspect, and it made me plug in asteroid Sado into my chart and then into my synastry with a number of people in my life.

Imagine my jaw-dropping shock when I found that my ex-husband's Sado is exactly conjunct my Chiron (which is in Aries in my first house) and that my Sado is closely conjunct his Jupiter.

It's like we were scripted to be sadistic to one another.

Adhering to Ami's theory that our Chiron is in the house where we ultimately feel the most pain: I have had body image issues forever, and I do really have these short stumpy legs which tend to gain weight and hold onto it. So I have hidden my legs, always. No skirts for me. Chiron being in my first house kind of fits: my image, my appearance, has been a source of great pain for me.

And there comes my husband, who I fell in love with in 1998, and who I married in 2002. A charming stranger who I became absolutely besotted with... until ultimately he proved to be utterly horrid to me as a husband. And what do you know? That man, almost from the beginning, never missed a chance to openly ogle every hot looking woman with long, thin legs that we happened to pass on the street, or see on TV. He would comment about their legs, shake his head in wonderment, whistle under his breath. It's like he did it to make me feel bad. My Chiron conjunct his Sado.

Every day I believe in astrology more and more.

I'm not convinced on SADO operating in regards to sadism. The theory that our CHIRON is the house in which we feel the most pain is an old one. I'm still debating if that holds for me.

I'm not sure what the 'pains of the 9H' would be. I actually have a chronic pain disorder; yet my CHIRON doesn't seem to be connected to my physical body.

It's exactly opposite my LILITH, however. THAT I get. I DO feel that I somewhat 'suffer' for the fact that I don't conduct my relationships according to traditional standards. I'm not sure that I'd say 9H is a house mostly about beliefs, but I do know that philosophy is a part of it.

I believe a 9th house Chiron could deal with manifestations of your fears or doubts about your connection to God, your belief in yourself and spirituality or perhaps something like feeling devalued due to not getting the education you wanted n such things, or could play out as self defeating beliefs that do become physical ailments when left not dealt with.

I've done a lot of research on Sado, it's exactly on my Pluto/Discovery/Einstein which are all on my AC and Karma, it's been an asteroid I've studied for several years and rarely don't check in any and every chart I look at.
Sado most definitely in my research is about sadistic behavioral patterns. Some ppl might not have it prominent in their chart if they have not had much experience with this type of abuse or been an abuser themselves. Not all Sado is abuse to others, mine is retrograde and I was self abusive for many years, but Sado can be the abused, the abuser, or something as simple as learned patterns you must fight within yourself also it can indicate a person who is into alternative sexual practices.
But what your describing sounds like a verbally and emotionally abusive sadistic relationship. To take someone's deepest insecurity and constantly make them not only remind them of it but to add insult to the injury by commenting on other women is very evil! Then at the same time he is your husband, the one meant love you, proclaiming to be a partner to love and protect you is totally cruel and abusive.
That is a very typical aspect to see in quietly cruel abusive relationships. One thing I have noticed about Sado is it's rarely an open obvious abuse, it's more of a quiet, underhanded, hard to pinpoint, psychological cruelty that slowly tears you apart, sometimes you don't even realize it has happened until years later you start putting things together. Sometimes you blame yourself or feel you were in the wrong all these are very typical characteristic patterns of Sado.

I think Sado may be more about having the power to be sadistic toward another,
rather than actually doing it.

Example:

A known (very destructive and traumatising)
sadistic abuse(1)-victim(2) relationship:

(1)Sado conj. (2)Mars

A known (very healthy and transformative)
psychologist(1)-patient(2) relationship:

(1)Sado conj. (2)Mars.

Orbs may affect this also though.
The abuse-victim relation is exact conj.
The psych-patient is 7 deg.

Hmm, my Sado is conjunct my Priapus in Leo in my 8th house. Not sure I even WANT to know what that means.
square Uranus exact.

Mr Sag`s Sado is conjunct his Lilith in Virgo in 6th house.

That is ... disconcerting.
no close interaspects though.

natural, the actual counterpart to Priapus on astro.com (though it seems we seem to be inclined to pair up Priapus with osc. or true Lilith, which is a little lopsided, as the calculations are different.)

But in this instance I have Sado conjunct natural Priapus, he has Sado conjunct natural Lilith.
What a formidable mirroring!

However I also found that my mom has Sado conjunct her MC and NN. And she is most certainly not sadistic.

Everything about Sado is not negative! I have Sado on my Karma, AC, Pluto, Discovery, Einstein....yes I had sadistic abuse, but now Sado has turned into an ability to see through ppls behaviors that can be cold n cruel to others or themselves as in being self destructive and I can effortlessly see/feel the deeper issues in them that create their hateful behaviors. This gives me a deep empathy for them, even when their behaviors are directed at me.
Sado can be an ability to understand others destructive/self destructive tendencies. Self destructive behaviors as in treating yourself or others in ways that destroy love and kindness, Sado can describe these things.
I think of Sado as the name of the littles parts of ourself that we left somewhere crying in pain because we were afraid to go back and console/fix the pain. We ignore and push these places down so far we can't hear them.....Sado isn't gone, it's just realized we are ignoring it so it's now quietly working behind the scene to bring situations in our life that will hurt us enough that we will be forced to deal with what we are trying to ignore.
Sado will cause enough pain that we will hit rock bottom and be forced to deal with pain we have buried!
