Specifically, both partner's Venus and Mars squaring each other, BUT both Venuses and Marses sharing a sign (in this particular instance, Scorpio Venuses and Leo Marses.)I've found opinions on Venus/Mars squares seems to be pretty split on positive and negative interpretation, so I was interested to hear the community's ideas about how a DW square between the two would work in a relationship if both partners are familiar with the Venus sign and Mars sign energy in their own charts. (More specifics on the synastry for the interested: Neither person has a Venus/Mars square in their charts - one is closer to a very wide sextile and the other is close to a very wide trine. The man's a Libra and the woman has a Taurus ASC, so Venus is his Sun's ruler and her chart ruler. His Venus exactly conjuncts the woman's Pluto, Jupiter - the woman's Sag Sun ruler- and Mercury. The woman's Mars conjuncts his Moon.) IP: Logged |

I've experienced this with a friend of the opposite sex. It was definitely a love-hate relationship. Very passionate, yet unsettling. It was a little more aggressive on my part since his venus triggered my sun/mars/pluto conjunction. I don't like to be angry but for some reason I always felt that way towards him. Nice guy, but better we keep our distance. IP: Logged |

I don't have a DW, but an exact Venus-Mars square (I'm Mars and his Venus is tightly conjunct my DSC). I could never be angry with him, no matter what he does. We have had just one argument over a couple of years. And even then it was more like a heated discussion, without actually hightening our tones, etc. And he would never be angry with me, i've been told by his friends as well. IP: Logged |

Since Venus and Mars are generally our sexual planets and the squares show aspects that tend to give a physical manifestation in a natal/synastry - the need to act upon them, to do something physical, Venus square Mars is a very potent physical attraction aspect, if not the strongest. It doesn't show love or tender feelings, just pure physical animal attraction. Venus/Mars aspects are an ideal in a synastry, but I've noticed it is perhaps better to have one hard, one soft aspect - the hard aspect gives that urgency in attraction, the soft ones (along with the conjunction) point to a possible long-term attraction (if other aspects in the synastry are long-term). Two squares could be a little bit too tense or the attraction is purely physical, but it all depends on the rest of the synastry and, especially, the natals. Maybe both people need a square to these planets. Not to forget Venus/Mars is also the meeting between the goddess of love and the god of war, so it is also in aspect, in all its forms, showing possible conflict if the sexual energy of the aspect cannot manifest itself. Venus square Mars in syastry is usually an aspect of lovers who need to be very active together in a physical way, doing a lot of physical stuff together, otherwise they fight, because the energy of the square needs an outlet. It's a passionate aspect both in fighting and making love. ------------------

... sorry, couldn't resist I haven't had the double whammy, just one way... LeeLoo had some good insights there, not sure what to add. Would be really case specific obviously after a certain point. IP: Logged |

I have had this with my first love....and it was nothing like love hate...it was just pure love, our relationship was 3 years long and it only ended because I was young and restless. I broke his heart, but we are still friends 30 years later.Great sex, we were both virgins so had no preconceived ideas or hangups about sex...I personally thought it was very sexy. I see a lot of stuff here on lindaland about love/hate relationships....I am aqua rising and would flick a relationship in a heartbeat if I felt any hate...Why bother with that, life is too short.
