I am well aware of the importance of angle-rulers in synastry and the attraction/magnetism they produce,

however, I am specifically trying to understand how strong the ASC ruler is when it comes to attraction, and how it's effect is felt.

In my case, my chart-ruler is my Sun, so I can't really tell if it's the cause of attraction for me, since the Sun is a personal planet to begin with.

But what if someone's chart ruler was Mercury, a non-romantic planet, and they touched someone's Moon, would it be interpreted like an ASC-Moon conjunction or a Mars-Moon conjunction, since the ASC is a Mars house?

Have any of you found the chart-ruler prominent in your synastries?
If so, what was the nature of attraction like on your part? Did you feel it to be more Martian and physical? Or did you feel a natural affinity, a soul kinship with the other?

My friend's Asc ruler conjuncts my Moon/Mars, so I'm curious as to how this would be interpreted lol.

Well my chartruler is opposite his chartruler and also opposite his Mars-Jupiter. We would have to ask him I suppose. lol

On the other hand his chartruler (traditional) roughly trines my Venus, of course opposes my Jupiter-Ceres and squares my Neptune-NN.
Hmm I do feel very caring about him, that one is true. and of course there is a strong attraction, actually, well it sounds sappy, but he makes me feel like a woman. lol
Seriously, meeting him it was maybe the first time that I got aware of my own feminity. Must have been something in his response to me, I donīt know. It seems so instinctual that I can`t quite grasp it with my mind.

The new chartruler of his (Neptune) is widely conjunct my Sun-Mercury (about 5 degrees), but even though it is wide, it might be valid still, especially the one to MErcury as it is under 5 degrees).
I have often said it, when I am in his proximity, I feel more myself. It is difficult to explain, but he lures out this Sagittarianness in me, which is not always a good thing I suppose.

I think the chart ruler in a synastry is a "substitute" to the ASC, so any major contact with it, especially a conjunction, would feel like a conjunction of that planet to your ASC or an overlay in your 1st house. If someone's personal planets or love rulers aspect your chart ruler, they are attracted to you and like you, there is physical attraction but also general appreciation of your personality (just like in an ASC/1st house conjunction). The interaction will depend on the planet and the aspect, of course.

Aspects to the chart rulers are obviously very important in synastry.

Looking at my parents' synastry, I see;

my mother has 2 chart rulers, just like me lol the "gate" ruler, Saturn, and the "true" ruler, intercepted Uranus. Well, Saturn and Uranus both rule her Aqua intercepted 1st, so they go hand in hand here, with Uranus ruling the second part of life, mostly.

my father's Mars Venus Jupiter aspect her Saturn and Uranus (Venus). He must have liked her looks/personality a lot. Plus Jupiter is his 5th ruler, Venus his DSC ruler. He is a Scorpio ASC, so we also have a chart to chart ruler aspect, very good for general compatibility, me thinks.

My mother's Venus trines his chart ruler Pluto, which is on her DSC, also conjuncts his Mars.

Especially with Venus here, on both sides, they liked each other and they got along well

Looking at my 1st great love here, I see he doesn't aspect my Saturn )which is probably one of the reasons we broke up lol) - I have the same ASC config as my mother - but his Mars on my ASC also squares my Uranus (an aspect which didn't prove too good in the long run, but in combination with the ASC placement brought an instant, electric and very strong physical attraction from both sides (especially his). Mars rules his 2nd house, so the physical part was very very strong, double. His Mercury (intercepted DSC ruler) opp my Uranus - he must have seen me as bringing out the "ideal partner" he was secretly craving or didn't know he needed lol with my looks and personality. This opposition must have been a major factor in our attraction. He had an intercepted 1st too, ASC in Aqua/Pisces. My Mercury (5h and 8th ruler) conjunct his Uranus (0) so you can see how the mutual physical/general attraction was off the charts. His true personality reflected by his Neptune/Jupiter conjunction in Sag receives numerous aspects from my chart: conjuncted by my Neptune, 2nd ruler, sq by my Venus, sextile by my Mars and Pluto. I really liked him, didn't I? And I was very attracted to him.

I suppose the conjunctions to the chart ruler are felt in the strongest manner when it comes to physical attraction and this aspect.

In my current synastry I have his Moon and Sun trine my Saturn - 1st ASC ruler.

His Uranus (5th ruler) conj my Uranus.
His Mercury (chart ruler, MC/SN ruler) trine my Uranus and his Saturn (MC planet, IC ruler, 5th ruler) trine my Uranus.

So we have a trine between our chart rulers, plus my Saturn sesqusquare his Mercury.

You're probably very very attracted to him in a very physical manner, with this one. Do you feel like touching him all the time?

In my case, our chart ruler is the same: Venus.
My Venus is in exact sextile to his Venus, and in sextile to his Sun as well (2.01' orb).

I don't know if this is really significant though.
