Is it possible to have too much Saturn in synastry? My understanding is Saturn’s the “glue” which usually holds relationships together, but I wonder if this becomes more burden than asset when there’s a lot of Saturn involved. Case in point: I lightly touched on this in another thread, but a guy I’ve been involved with and I have the following:Me: Saturn square Jupiter orb -3°06' Him: Saturn trine Neptune orb -0°50' Saturn square Uranus orb -1°50' Saturn sextile Sun orb +2°11' Saturn sextile Pluto orb -1°40' Saturn conjunction Mars orb -9°02' This relationship feels like nothing but work for me. We have some nice aspects going like Sun trine Venus, but we suffer from delays, misses, and other related annoyances. However, it’s like we have this strict and dedicated responsibility to one another that’s very hard to define. I blame Saturn for this! We don’t really have “fun” in my opinion--it feels to me that it’s more important we’re "there" and stable for each other for whatever comes. It really puts a damper on fun times because there's this aura of "this is serious" around us. (If anyone's curious, I posted our synastry chart in another thread as I could very well be blaming the wrong planet, lol: http://s17.postimg.org/e4p22m2b3/astro_61gw_01_03.gif. Here's our composite chart as well: http://s23.postimg.org/uqxr4xlor/astro_621gw_68467_57293.gif.) Anyway, how much Saturn is too much in synastry? Is too much Saturn just a romance killer?

The chart doesn't come up when I click on the link.I never really thought it possible to have too much positive saturn. Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman had more than you listed and they seemed to be quite happy. Maybe it has to do with how you relate to saturn in your own natal chart? IP: Logged |

The Saturn aspects listed above are our synastry aspects. quote: Originally posted by manderin: The chart doesn't come up when I click on the link.
Well, that's strange. For some reason, the URL won't direct to the thread. I went ahead and edited my post above to include the synastry chart image instead. IP: Logged |

Yours is not even a heavy Saturnian relationship (usually tight Saturn aspects to Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, ASC, maybe MC, Vertex and Node, and often it will be conjunction, square or opposition will make for a heavy SAturnian relationship- trines and sextiles can come up of course, too, but they are usually relatively smooth sailing). The only I see that could really relate to some intense Saturnian vibe is the square to Jupiter. however that is hardly a personal aspects, unless of course Jupiter rules the ASC, DESC, MC, IC, 5th or 8th house in one of your charts? As far as I can see - though I do not use equal housesystem, so I am going to refrain from comments of houserulers- you have Pluto conjunct NN one way and Pluto conjunct DESC the other way, and relatively close to each other. That is NO joke! In fact Pluto can sometimes act a bit like a very intense Saturn. The difference is that Pluto is usually more passionate (all-or-nothing-scenarios, very kathartic), and very transformative. It is going beyond the SATurnian earthly bonds into the transpersonal realm, literally. Where it is similiar is when it comes to the total commitment (well with Plusto I would call it more devotion). Where Saturn makes a contract between souls (to stay together or do something together), Pluto will make a pact between souls, and usually seal it with blood. Saturn may vow: Till death do us part, Pluto vows: not even death will make us part. Of course Iam using exaggerations and metaphors here, but what I want to say is that this feeling of heavy, emotional commitment and maybe exhaustion at times, very well could be due to the Pluto-aspects here.
In the composite you have actually both glue-markers, and in relation to both luminaries, Sun and Moon.
Saturn conjuncts Sun in the 8th house Pluto squares Moon. No wonder you feel this is serious, because it frankly is. IP: Logged |

Good question! I wouldn't count the generational aspect as saturn-neptune or saturn to other outher planets though...I have Saturn square his sun Saturn square his venus Saturn opposite his ASC He has Saturn trine my Sun Saturn opposite my ASC Is this a heavy saturn relationship? Lately I really feel how much saturn can turn into a burden It's really hard wok actually... me and my boyfriend have been together for 1,5 years ca... I don't think your's is heavy though, cause it's mainly sextiles you got, which is the easier aspect and it's not that many aspect... IP: Logged |

Thank you for looking at everything, Ceridwen! Whoa, I didn’t consider the Pluto square Moon aspect or Saturn conjunct Sun in the 8th house. I agree: the feelings do seem more in line with how you described Pluto. As you wrote, “heavy, emotional commitment and maybe exhaustion” is exactly where I’m at, especially the exhaustion part. Poor Saturn--sounds like I was blaming the wrong planet after all, lol! I’ve tried to distance myself from this relationship because it’s so heavy, but I feel I can’t get away. Strangely, this guy and I haven’t seen each other for about a week now and I still feel like I’m being “pulled” to him (I’m curious if he feels the same; he’s texted me almost every day over the week--no prompting from me--even now as I'm typing this). I’m sure the Venus square Uranus aspect in our composite chart doesn’t help us either. Blah. quote: Originally posted by next to neptune: Good question! I bet your relationship does feel heavy with those squares, next to neptune. I would think the Sun and Venus squares would be especially difficult! Does it feel like there's some stability in your relationship, at least? IP: Logged |
