Just a bit of background info: He's the love of my life and also my biggest heartbreak. We started off as close friends who attempted a relationship but it ended after the first week we were both together in-person (we live in different countries) and it broke my heart - actually, it broke all of me and it took a very long while to recover. He's back in my life now and we are attempting to pick up the pieces of our friendship. We both admitted that we feel a strong bond and we are also each other's first love. But I don't understand why we keep hurting each other, most times unintentionally. I think the answer could lie in the charts and I was wondering if you could help provide me with some insight on this.

Reading composite and synastry charts still baffle me- and that's why I am very grateful that you alerted me to the node aspects in synastry. I had no idea they could play an important role! All the while, I looked at aspects affecting Sun/Moon/Mars/Venus/Pluto, which are informative in their own right but do not offer much in explaining the deep feelings we have when we are together. Like, we care for each other but there's too much pain and sometimes we want to move on but we don't because we feel like home and we always want to come home to each other.
