I would like to know first, what negative aspects in synastry and composite would be the worst of the worst and then what positive aspects, in your opinion, might cancel out or override the negative aspect.

For example:

Synastry:

1.Negative aspect: Person A's Uranus square Person B's Venus.

A postive aspect that might be able to blance the unstable uranian energy out might be: Person B's Saturn conjunct Person A's Venus.

2. Negative aspect: DW squares between mars- Sun/Mercury/Venus in synastry

Positive aspect: Sun, mercury, venus mars ALL conjunct in the composite.

I don't think any aspect is "the worst" or "negative." There are no "bad" planets, and there are no "bad" aspects.

There are some aspects that create more stress and tension than others, but that is why we are here: to learn, grow and transform. We could not do that, life would be extremely boring, and we'd never get anything done if everything was trines, sextiles, Venus, and Jupiter. All of those have "negative" parts of their nature as well.

I rather like Uranian energy (most of the time). I don't think the Venus square Uranus I have with my current love is bad. It challenges some of the parts of me that would prefer more stability, routine, and structure sometimes, but I take that to mean that even at my advanced age, given that I'm still breathing, I have more to learn and/or more to teach.

I have also grown to like my heavily Saturn influenced chart; what was extremely difficult when I was in my teens and 20s is actually rather freeing or comfortable now.

And I've learned that it is only through allowing myself to experience pain that I can heal and teach/contribute to the healing of others (Chiron). The only thing worse than experiencing emotionally painful situations is running from them.

I think we'd be better off if we talked about "transforming" planets and aspects, not "bad" or "negative" planets and aspects.

I agree with Delilah423. To add upon that, I feel that relationships aren't an end unto themselves, but a means to grow as a person as well.

My ex-husband and I had Sun square Venus and Sun Square Mars DW, both! And we made 13 years of it, neither with regrets. We simply learned way too much from each other.

Despite what I said above, I do think that if a relationship is to last long-term, there are likely aspects/placements that help *balance* a chart, not "cancel out or override the negative."

But that works both ways too: a synastry or composite that is heavy with so-called positive aspects needs some squares, etc. to balance it and prevent inertia.

I'm not inclined to list specific planets, sign placements, house placements, or aspects as that would be as varied as the couples and the stars themselves.

Hi Yanmorg, I can cite two highly regarded astrologers with diametrically opposite views on Venus-Saturn in synastry. Evangeline Adams spoke of the Venus-Saturn conjunction as an indicator of eternal friendship. But Liz Greene calls this an aspect "par excellence" of emotional rejection. I'd rather see a Saturn trine Venus rather than the conjunction.

I noticed that in two examples on the GREAT LOVE thread, Nancy and Ronald Reagan and Lunt and Fontaine, both synastry charts had a Moon-Uranus opposition. Given that the first couple were in politics and the second in the theater, the opposition was more indicative of the fast paced excitement of their lives. But for many people, I think the Moon-Uranus opposition could be difficult. Exceptions of course would be people who are attuned to Uranus, i.e., Moon-Uranus in major aspect in the natal chart or Uranus in the 7H. Like your example, I think a Saturn trine to the Moon and sextile to Uranus could bring in an element of stability and continuity that would steady the erratic unpredictability of Moon-Uranus.

I was looking at the synastry chart of tv actor and comedian, Phil Hartman, and his wife, Brynn, who shot him to death as he slept and then shortly after killed herself. Brynn's Mars opposed Hartman's Venus-Pluto conjunction (2 degrees). Mars-Pluto in its negative manifestation and aside from its association with sexuality, both natally and in synastry, is associated with the shadow side of human nature, with brutality and violence. Also, Brynn's Pluto is conjunct Hartman's Saturn in his 7H (0 degrees)! Saturn-Pluto and Mars-Pluto represent the wrathful, dark face of God, or Siva, the destroyer. I doubt any of the inner planets or even the Sun could counteract these "terrible divinities." To my mind, it would have to be an outer planet that could match the power and potency of Mars, Saturn, and Pluto. The most likely candidates in my mind are Uranus and Neptune. Uranus or Prometheus in Greek mythology, is an awakener and liberator, and Neptune represents the supernal Light. So, Uranus and Neptune in some kind of configuration with the lethal Mars opposition to Venus-Pluto and to Saturn-Pluto. This is just speculation though, but interesting to think about.

Me and my boyfriend got some really hard aspect in the synastry and composite, but we still managed to stay together this far (1,5 year) and that is still something! Nothing indicates that we will break up anytime soon, but you ofc can't know with uranus:P

We have venus square uranus exact, uranus square moon (5 degrees) in the synastry and Sun square uranus (2 degrees) in the composite.
Some of the factors why I think we committed to each other anyways, is that we have all these aspect in our natals. I have moon square uranus (2 degree) and he got uranus square venus (4 degree) and sun square uranus (2 degrees). So I think he is used to the energy, and so am I. He also got uranus in 7th house, I got uranus in 6th, and in composite we have uranus in 6th.

Another hard one is all our saturn. We have saturn square sun (1 degree), saturn square venus (5 degrees) and we also have saturn square venus in the composite (5 degrees). What I think override this is both the equally difficult uranus, both also our saturn in each others 7th house in synastry and in the composite, and jupiter!

We have jupiter square sun (1 degree), jupiter square venus (5 degree) and in the composite we have a love triangle with jupiter-moon-pluto all being trine. And jupiter trine moon is the tightest aspect in the composite.
My jupiter is in his 1st house and conjunct his ascendant. All this jupiter is able to override the serious saturn and have fun when uranus is most annoying.
Even though it's mostly squares all of it, I think it is balancing each other out someway.

At least, but maybe most frigthening we got a whole lot of NEPTUNE too. Sun square neptune is our most tight aspect, then we also have neptune square mercury in synastry. And in composite we have neptune square almost all planets, but every aspect is more than 6 degrees so I am not sure if they count (luckily).
My boyfriend got sun square neptune in his natal, and I have neptune square mercury natal. So my only hope is that we are able to see through the fog, also because we got a good portion of saturn!

Mostly we got all these hard aspect between us, but at least we don't got any challenging pluto/mars aspect.... but I think it is very individual what works between people.
My own natal chart is made up of squares/oppositions so I don't mind a challenge, as long as it's the right energies.

Coping with hard times you will find Jupiter conjunct Sun or Moon very handy! Preferably both (trine or conjunction) It will make you look at each other in all seriousness one moment and the next you will find yourselves suddenly bursting out in laughter forgetting the whole thing b cause most of the time it's not worth it. The serious looks probably looked too funny. I have this with my husband. Trine to the Sun and the other has it conjunct the Moon.

Also my astro teacher told me according to his research long married couples always have good Jupiter cross aspects. Makes sense!

someway.

Next to Neptune, if you don't mind my asking, who is the Saturn in the two synastry aspects and how does the Saturn-Venus manifest in the relationship?

It could make you overdo things and the possible consequences are ... ?? Seems to me the trine is more stable, flowing (as usual) and the conjunction more intensely involved. I dunno really... Jupiter squares are not as challenging as the others are right?

I would say if you have a lot of outer planets in square to personal planets and you also have Jupiter square it will eventually get over your head. Like it will feel way too much at times. But people with Scorpio, intense natal charts or Uranussy stuff could be needing this kind of excitement. Just my common sense, not my expertise.

My opinion - sun square Uranus and moon square moon are the worst aspects to have in synastry and are "uncancelleable." All others can be balanced out or depend on the natals if they can work it out or if it just brings out the worst in people.

Mars in hard aspect to Pluto isn't great but I've seen it work in long-term couples... just have to watch the anger.

I agree, look to the natals. If the person has lots of hard aspects in the natal or is Plutonian or Uranian, hard aspects are generally going to add longevity to the relationship, not take it away.

thought provoking... I can see why so too. Someone with Sun/Uranus tight in 4th loved it when my Uranus oppose his moon and my Jupiter squaring their Venus. And other outer planets hard aspect. I thought he would run the first day or two. His chart was doing the same to mine. It wanted to run.. but somehow I was intrigued. it was unstable at the end. I find many connection lukewarm with some excitement. Even with aspects we praise in the forum.
