I know that in synastry, the Pholus person will tend to make the planet person "explode" with whatever that planet's energy encompasses...or perhaps change direction completely in life.

I am, however, wondering if it's a two-way street?

If the planet person has a few asteroid conjunctions, wouldn't those also affect the Pholus person and their asteroid conjunctions?

For example, if someone has Pholus conjunct another asteroid in their natal, and that in turn conjuncts the other person's planet, which is also conjunct a few asteroids...wouldn't the Pholus person be affected by the explosive dynamic as well? Especially if both people have Pholus conjunct, in addition to other asteroids?

Just wondering. I'm in need of more coffee right now, so I'm probably not being very clear...but hopefully one of you will get what I'm saying and have some input...?

No, I think the Pholus has one role and the planet person another. The Pholus person makes the planet person explode what is inside the planet person imo

Pholus is like a giant pimple coming to the surface

Ami, do you think that all asteroids work that way in synastry? Like they bring whatever it is that they possess TO the other person's planet, but the planet person doesn't really affect the asteroid person much?

Just wondering, asteroids are pretty interesting.

Also, what if two people have Pholus conjunct? Do the asteroids that are also conjunct Pholus all explode on both sides?! Yikes!

Well, I would have to look at each case by itself. I don't think you can generalize like that but I am not exactly sure what you mean, Violets lol

If people were born close in time, Pholus could conjunct Pholus and it would not be a big deal.

When one person's Pholus conj a personal part of the other person's chart, we see the "Pholus Phenomena" i.e Pholus blows up what it touches.

Ah, I see. The charts I'm looking at are one year apart, so perhaps it's just a generational thing, as Pholus isn't particularly active in one chart.

My pholus is opposite his pluto, and his pholus conjunt my Venus/Mars. Hope we don't explode together!

Great article on Pholus here: http://www.planetwaves.net/smallworlds/contents/planets/pholus.html

Excerpt:

quote:
Given that Pholus's orbit crosses the orbits of all three modern planets, with their revolutionary changes and compelling spiritual processes, as well as that of Saturn, you can be sure it carries enormous energy wherever it goes, that it can go nearly anywhere, and can wear many masks.

At times, the energy of Pholus feels like a pressure release, akin to shaking up a bottle of Pepsi on a hot day, and promptly opening it. It's just that the stuff keeps coming out. A genie coming out of a bottle is perhaps a better metaphor, but that, too, comes with the sense of materialization.

Pholus has a quality of opening the door to the infinite. Depending on the door, that may or may not be helpful, or seem helpful, but it is what it is and when Pholus has become active, it's necessary to get out of denial and work with the energy consciously.

Pholus has the property of release from situations, thus opening to new possibilities, and emerging into new states of existence. It is the Centaur of fast-moving changes, or rapid transformations, typically initiated by one's own action. Something as simple as curiosity or a chance encounter may start the chain of events.

One quality of Pholus experience is, "I would never have done that if I knew what I was getting into," sometimes with the added idea, "but I'm glad I did." A small gesture that leads to something large, a minor project that becomes one's life work, an experiment that takes on a life of its own, leading to many developments, all are properties of Pholus.

I don't really understand its effects in synastry. One of my closest friends has her Pholus on my moon (1 orb) and it doesn't make me explode

But I have seen Pholus in action in transits, time and time again. Mainly with breakups and divorce announcements coinciding with sun transiting Pholus, pr sun conjunct tr Pholus, tr Pholus conjunct Juno, or hitting a key point in the composite...things like that.

I've never felt any major affects from Pholus in synastry....nothing notable at least. Even with an exact conjunction, my Pholus on another's NN, nada!

My Pholus opposes my Juno and both square Neptune
My Pholus inconjunct Pluto, not a clue what it's affect is though. Wish I knew.

Many ppl talk about it like it's super important and explosive but I don't know, I don't feel it and nothing has ever been explained in a way that resonates with me.

How do you you feel his Pholus on your Venus? Does he have a strong influence over you? Did he change your life direction?

My Pholus conjuncts my guy's Venus 0 dgr

His Pholus conjuncts my Chiron

Hmmm

My natal Pholus conjuncts my ASC and my North Node
Hmmmmm

Pholus is linked to:
- the small start of a major event (like the butterfly and the huricane)
- a turning point (like the first domino stone in a range)
- a situation involving three generations at the time (grandparents, parents, children)
- curing addictions
- something happens that you can't get a hold on and that is escalating (like the first stone in a revolution)
- the catalyst (something that triggers a lot of events)

I have someone whose Pholus/Ceres conjunct my POF in Gemini in the 12th, and I experienced intense spiritual growth (some would say an awakening) after meeting him. These are within 3* of my SN and he has a bunch of generational planets opposite, plus his own POF.

I'm so mad my Pholus doesn't aspect anything in his chart. I want to get him back!

Also just noticed my dad's Pholus is on my Neptune/Uranus conjunction in my 8th. I could not have moved to other countries to pursue my dreams without him, and he has always helped me out financially in these endeavors. He is so generous I have to stop him from helping me too much. I love him My Pholus is also 3* from his Jupiter, so that's probably part of it too.
