The sun is transiting conjunct my ELVIS @ 29 Virgo, btw.

I'm going to post his synastry and composite with his mother. They were so deeply connected, it was unhealthy...not in the incestual sense, but she drank herself to death out of fear of losing him, then he died right after the anniversary of her death. He never recovered from losing her.

So that should be interesting, astrologically.

Astrology wins again...

Elvis' mother has her name asteroid GLADYS at 0 Scorpio, conjunct CHILD at 2 Scorpio (less than 2 degrees orb.) Elvis has ELVIS at 0 Scorpio.

Interesting, and very accurate, the CERES-CERES conjunction.

They had a psychic connection...when he got into a car accident and the car caught on fire, she woke up screaming at the same time.

Interesting that Elvis has sun widely conjunct TELEPHUS, 2.23 orb.

Sad I don't have her birth time.

Ignore the angles here...transits for his death date:

Numbers you may be curious about:

Tr Neptune 13 Sag
Composite Pholus 13 Sag

Tr ELVIS 8 Capricorn
conjunct composite Union-Gladys

It's weird seeing the transits because my good friend was born that morning, and I'm basically looking at her chart.

Checking draconic next....

Alexander? What famous emperor WASN'T he? And seriously, cool comparison!

I watched that video. Not sure if I'd wear suits like that but they're definitely interesting. Why would he kill himself in your opinion?

Btw, tPthah is exactly on Elvis' Elvis And for some reason I'm having Memphis return...Which is conjunct my AV.

Btw2, I think this thread inspired me artistically. I may need your expertise on Elvis one day

Now looking at the charts. I don't know if I'll have anything to say though.

Oh I forgot to include ATROPOS

Elvis' ATROPOS: 7 Taurus, conjunct her 5 Taurus sun
Gladys' ATROPOS: 23 Aries, conjunct 21 Aries NN
Composite ATROPOS: 0 Taurus (opposing name asteroids exactly!)
Tr ATROPOS when Elvis died: 6 Libra (not sure of the significance)

Townspeople said that "Elvis killed Gladys" because he brought so much stress into her life. So the Atropo-sun connection is a bit eerie.

His Jupiter @ 18 Scorpio opposing her Saturn @ 21 Taurus may function into that as well.

Forgot to mention, her Jupiter conjunct his ASC conjunct their composite Pholus conjunct tr Neptune when he died.

Anyway...

Without further ado, the draconic synastry:

I didn't have enough room for all the asteroids...

Elvis' draco ELVIS: 29 Sag
His draco GLADYS: 18 Taurus

Gladys' draco ELVIS: 17 Leo
Her draco GLADYS: 9 Libra

Draco composite ELVIS: 19 Cap
Draco composite GLADYS: 11 Taurus
Draco composite CERES: 3 Libra

Nothing huge that I can see there, but the draco composite sun at 20 Aries is conjunct her tropical NN, and squares dr comp Elvis. Dr Comp Uranus conjunct her sun.

Doesn't look too happy, overall. It's like they were too close to survive independently.

It's a little creepy how close they were, to be honest.

Something's telling me her Jupiter rules an angle or the 8th house. I have a feeling this Jupiter-ASC conjunction is an important factor when it comes to their closeness.

Her Mercury, Venus and NN in his 4th seem to make bonding easy.

Her Ceres conjunct his Vertex and Ceres - overbearing mother, same style of caring? Gotta love Cancer

Her Neptune opposite his Sun - boundary issue.

Her Saturn opposite his ASC ruler Jupiter - hating to let him go, even if it's allowing him to be healthily independent?

They seem to have Moon trine Pluto, this could contribute to the issue.

Her Jupiter conjunct her Pholus - he made her crazy about him?

Her posessive Taurus Saturn trine his Sun - clinging to him, wanting to watch over him forever?

His Saturn opposite her Moon - he wasn't much better?

^ Great analysis. My answer to all the questions is, "Yes, right, that seems to be the case."

The only one I can't figure out is: "His Jupiter conjunct her Pholus - he made her crazy about him?"

Jupiter-Pholus is a puzzle isn't it?

Well I think their connection magnified Pholus' role in her life...her life came to exemplify Pholus issues: huge changes, dramatic surprises, small things expanding into mammoth issues. Case in point, he walked into SUN records to record a little song for his mother, to give her as a present...some minor tune that was personal to them.

And yet that caught the interest of the receptionist, who held onto his name and promoted him to the owner of the shop (Sam Phillips, born January 5th) and that's where it all began.

Reference: http://www.elvispresleynews.com/marionkeisker/

I don't want anyone just taking my word for it.

ETA: Fittingly, his first hit song was That's Alright, Mama.

Gladys was always complimenting his voice, and she supported his dreams to become famous, but she couldn't have foreseen that he would become the world's first superstar, because superstars didn't exist yet. So she didn't even know what she was creating with him, she didn't know girls would be ripping his car and clothes to shreds, which practically gave her a heart attack every time it happened, and drove her to become an alcoholic (she died of alcoholism, cirrhosis of the liver.)

The way I might interpret her Pholus there is, she was only being a loving mother, teaching her son lullabies, complimenting him, and encouraging him...tiny, ordinary matters...but one thing led to another quite rapidly, the whole butterfly effect was triggered, and it ultimately resulted in (or contributed to) this kind of "explosion" of Scorpio energy: the sexual frenzy he elicited with fans, sexual controversy in the national media, and within a few years, her death, and then his own early death.

I might be overreaching there, but so far, in my mind, Pholus is a big deal.

LOL...I have no strong opinions...the resemblance to Alexander is just fun to me.

And I do think this was not his first lifetime in a prominent role, and the Memphis connection, along with his interest in ancient Egypt and things like flat-lining (something the Pharoahs did) makes me think he had some prominent role there. I will have to look at his Egyptian asteroids later, not that I'm educated enough to analyze the data.

quote:
Why would he kill himself in your opinion?

He was slowly dying from all the prescription drugs he was taking, and I think he decided to euthanize himself just to expedite the process and get out of pain. Also, a few of his alienated friends had just released a tell-all book about his personal life two weeks prior to his death. This was the first-ever exposé of his crazy habits, drug addiction, vices, and moral decline. He didn't want to face his fans after being exposed like that. He was set to begin a concert tour the day he died.

Also, it was close to the anniversary of his mother's death.

Some more about the angles:

* ASC @12.22 Sag: Conjunct APOPHIS @11.22 Sag
Thread about Apophis: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum28/HTML/003167.html

* IC @26 Pisces: I forgot to say that Elvis and Priscilla's composite sun @25 Pisces is conjunct his IC. Their sun conjunct his LUCIFER @23 Pisces...not a good sign?

* DSC @12.22 Gemini: Conjunct PAN @10.29 Gemini...not a great indicator of monogamy is it?

* MC @26.50 Virgo
Widely conjunct LUST @ 23.18 Virgo

I think his Virgo MC trine Cap Mercury-Venus enabled him to appear more wholesome than he was.

More asteroids:

Elvis has GANYMED conjunct Neptune at 14 Virgo, trine his sun. He was a voyeur intrigued by lesbians.

He has 17058 ROCKNROLL at 14 Pisces in his 3H, opposing Neptune (and Ganymed), forming a grand cross with his ASC/DSC.

ABUNDANTIA 24.33 Cancer
Pluto 25.08 Cancer

KING 10.52 Taurus
KARMA 10.09 Scorpio
SPHINX 10.38 Scorpio

ZEUS 1.26 Cap
EUTERPE 2.38 Cap (muse of music)
ANGEL 3.19 Cap

AESCHYLUS 30.00 Aries
HEPHAISTOS 29.29 Aries
PALLAS 0.00 Taurus

^^ In his 5H, widely conjunct Aries Uranus...recreational drug use?

GOLD 21.39 Pisces
ECHO 21.37 Pisces
LUCIFER 23.28 Pisces

^^ In the 3H.

That's all for now, I'm a little burned out...

It would take too long to describe, and some of it, I can't describe....

But...any excuse to gab about him some more!

I can tell you that, as you may know from experience, the Taurus decan of Cap is particularly obsessive. Elvis was SUPER CRAZY obsessive, and it warms my heart. He would listen to the same song fifty times in a row if he liked it. When he was in the military I think he ate nothing but plain yogurt for weeks. Whatever he was into, he was REALLY REALLY into. And I am the same way, so I find that endearing.

He would gather his friends to talk about spiritual books and talk all night long, while some were sleeping and others practically crying in boredom (especially Priscilla, he drove her nuts) but he wouldn't shut up, he had things to say. And he kept the trunk of his car full of spiritual books like The Impersonal Life and would hand them out to people. He read the same books over and over and probably had a lot of it committed to memory.

Just obsessing the hell out of whatever he liked....

YES YES YES

That's how I am, too, and it's so happy for me to watch other people acting the same way.

Edit

For whatever reason I feel weird trying to describe him....it sounds like hyperbole...

Leaving off with him singing Bridge Over Troubled Water

I think that's a fantastic description of Pholus in action, Faith. Pholus usually changes what it touches in an explosive, unexpected way, and the change tends to be forever.

So, I think it's fascinating that the small, seemingly insignificant act of recording a simple song as a gift for his Mom led to the things it did. Her Pholus 'blew up' his Jupiter. With Jupiter being his Chart Ruler, it led to his identity being changed forever. Also, being Jupiter, his finances were changed forever.

His Pholus trines her Sun and MC, and we can definitely see how her identity and standing in the public eye were changed drastically by him. She went from being just a quiet small town Mom, to being the Mom of a superstar, and she was put in the public spotlight for the first time in her life in ways she probably never could have imagined.

Silly thought, but I'm curious if our synastry with him might have any bearing on which song of his we like best.

My Cancer AC and Mars are in his 8th house exactly conjunct his Pluto 0° and opposite his Mercury and Venus, which conjunct my DC. My favorite song of his is "Suspicious Minds", which is a song that's very Plutonic and emotionally Cancerian.

Another thing I noticed, Faith, is that we both share a tight Moon-Venus trine in our Composite or Davison with him. That probably plays a strong part in us having warm, affection feelings toward him.

Interesting thread

I love your comments, Wild Horses, thank you! It's good to see other people respecting Pholus.

And thanks for pointing out the moon-Venus trines, I hadn't even noticed...definitely a cozy aspect.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite song! Yours makes sense...

Well, you know, he sings a lot of sad songs that got me through hard times, especially You'll Never Walk Alone (listened to that when my father was dying) and Green, Green Grass of Home. That's his Pisces moon in my 8H. I don't listen those songs even though they are probably my favorites, because I relied on them.

I also love Unchained Melody, because of the story behind it. He had promised his one-time fiance June Juanico that he would record it for her. They broke up, but she checked every record he put out for the next two decades, seeing if he finally recorded it. The day he died, she was in mourning and listening to the radio tribute to him, and they played him singing that song, which is the first time she ever heard him sing it in public. She says she cannot even begin to describe how much pain she was in, hearing it under those circumstances.

He sang it just a few months before he died...must've known he was dying...and he looks so ill in the concert footage. But at some points his voice is incredible, and I think it's so sweet that he kept the promise.

^^ Elvis & June

Unchained Melody

As for regular everyday listening, it really is hard to pick...but since I just posted some sad ones, I'll say I really like...

A Little Less Conversation (Remix)

My Gemini Mars on his DSC? LOL

I don't know.

It`s almost eery, but I just stumbled into a documentary on TV about Elvis, though it focused much on the Pricilla-Elvis-story, painting an equally bad picture of both actually. lol

It`s also that it was in reference to him, that I first consciously heard the word "soulmate" in my life.
I overheard my aunt, who was living with us and is just 8 years older than me, talking to a friend (he must have been dead just for a year or two by then), and I don´t remember exactly what she said, just that the depth and intensity of her emotions suprised and impressed me. I mean she had a major crush on him, but somehow it was different than when other girls crushed on some stars, there was that whole spiritual-human vibe going on, that she would totally deny was ever there, if I confronted her about it today.

But fact is, wherever you looked in her room, you saw Elvis plastered at the walls, and in fact "Are you lonesome tonight?" was the first English I ever could speak, or rather sing, when I was maybe just about 5 years old, because she would listen to it CONSTANTLY, and I would sit on the stairs outside her room (well I was the little unnerving sister to her after all. lol) and listen to her listen to Elvis.

Is it REALLY a surprise that the first real crush on a singer I had was a role, that was actually a hommage (or parody?) to the King?

EDIT
I had my own "Elvis-phase" a bit later, after she had moved out actually, and I remember that among others I was especially loving these songs for some totally unknown reason
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vx183adJm4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpSbqZJbpKM

and this one, too
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyrQqmc5UT8

the funny thing is that I actually prefer the more bluesy or rocky titles nowadays, or the gospels, they were awesome, but still I do remember listening to these songs a lot during a certain time in my life.

Just looked up asteroid ELVIS in my chart - it is on 6 Taurus in 5th house.

Why I was laughing?

Cause I have my PoM, ACTOR on 7 Taurus, as well as my Eros/Psyche-mp, plus LUCIFER On 6 Taurus

and today, and that is almost creepy considering what you have been talking about Faith, Tr ELVIS is conjunct my natal PHOLUS on 6 Pisces exact.

But not everyone can see that. So there's a saying in Elvis circles, it goes like this:

Hi Ceri!

I love that story about your aunt. What a great way to learn English, too.

"I mean she had a major crush on him, but somehow it was different than when other girls crushed on some stars, there was that whole spiritual-human vibe going on, that she would totally deny was ever there, if I confronted her about it today."

How could she deny it?

Spiritual-human is the right word.

I'm so glad you appreciate him and have your own history with him.

I love "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" and "Sound of Your Cry" even though I hardly ever listen to them. I listen to "The Wonder of You" more often.

I actually have to be careful about listening to him because I am so susceptible to his voice...and then before I know it I am spending too much time on him again.

The documentaries are often bad. Well he did a lot of bad things. Then again...he had more pressure than most people could ever imagine. So it's easy to judge him, but hard to know what pushed him to those limits.

ETA: Lisa Marie addresses this with her song Nobody Noticed It. Interesting, she has an 8H Pisces moon and begins the song wondering if she's hearing her father's footsteps.

---

I don't excuse anything, and I guess that's why I feel confident believing that no matter how rotten he got, there was still something otherworldly and beautiful about him. I mean I've looked at it all.
