I'm checking to see if someone is into the relationship I have with him by checking if the composite has any mutual reception with any of his planets and I found this:Composite Moon in Libra His Natal Venus in Taurus I know Venus in Libra is dignity Moon in Taurus is Exaltation Still count? In synastry his Moon in Cancer is in mutual reception to my Jupiter in Taurus by exaltation. And his Mercury in Pisces in in mutual reception to my Venus in Gemini? I guess I'm confused if there can still be a mutual reception if the affinity is different. IP: Logged |

No. They cannot mutually deposit into each other. It's about rulership not exaltation. It would have to be Moon in Taurus, Venus in Cancer. Mercury in Pisces would not deposit into Venus so it is not "mutual" reception. Mercury would deposit into Jupiter/Neptune. Ex. My chart, Sun in Aries trine Mars Leo. Aries rules mars, Leo rules Sun. Mutual reception. Also, it must aspect.

Mutual reception is not limited to exchange of the signs of dignity of rulership. Ancient and medieval astrologers gave equal force to mutuality obtained by planets being in each other's signs of exaltation—for example, Jupiter in Taurus in a chart where the Moon is in Cancer. Jupiter is exalted in the sign of Cancer; Moon is exalted in the sign of Taurus. This is a very powerful mutual reception, not only because Taurus and Cancer are in a sextile aspect to one another, but also because the Moon is also in its own house in Cancer. This placement would tend to give a notably generous and probably religious individual, with a good deal of luck and talent. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutual_reception IP: Logged |

https://books.google.ca/books?id=7Y5GyqprqI0C&pg=PT50&lpg=PT50&dq=mixed+mutual+reception&source=bl&ots=abQC4GMdet&sig=dxAc-CYVgH_s6GWAP47FWyDeCUY&hl=en&sa=X&ei=PcEPVbGzG4OvyQTgtYFg &ved=0CDQQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=mixed%20mutual%20reception&f=falseI think this is a decent approach at it. Astrologers are divided on the rules for mutual reception. I.e. is it in mixed mutual reception if only one planets exalted? Must they aspect to be in reception? etc. I would want it answered why the sign would deposit into where it's exalted instead of the planet that rules it before I buy into that. So I only look into basic reception and synastry and don't add MMR in readings. So venus in Gemini making a square to Mercury Pisces would be discordant energy but that is only my opinion.

I tend to keep them quite simple. For example, if you were looking for affinity to, and reception of the LIB cMOON, I'd consider if either of you have VENUS in CAN, most readily, with ARIES SUN for a polarity affinity. I have a lovely polarity affinity with my Guardian, along with a mutual reception: my SUN in LIBRA and his VENUS in LEO with ARIES MOON. But in the composite? Hm. That's not something I've investigated in regards to mutual receptions. That could be useful. IP: Logged |
