Tearing my hair out with this one (and I really like my hair).

It's his MC conjunct my VERTEX, and
his VERTEX conjunct my IC.

I think the reason I am struggling is that VERTEX and angles baffle me, individually.

Interpretations can vary quite widely, and often use vague words, like "soul", "fate".

I understand fully that it is my issue that these words are vague - I lack intellectual understanding of them, and obviously lack the intuition to make up for it.

So, yeah. This one is doing my head in.

Any ideas?

ETA: there are bodies there too.
His ANGEL on my VERTEX & NEPTUNE on my ANTI-VERTEX
My MERCURY on his VERTEX

It sounds like his standing in life is something you are meant to be apart of. And your personal life is something he is meant to be apart of. Or that you were meant to learn something important about it to develop this more in yourselves individually.

Seems really important too. Like some very heavy karma happening. Would say you are close soul mates.

Thank you for your insight Athene. Although it's still all a bit vague, isn't it.

Perhaps I expect too much from astrology.

If you want more in-depth you have to say which signs they fall in and the planets interactions..

Okay my guess is that your looking for a practical way to interpret these aspects. To interpret them properly first we need to understand the Vertex Axis itself.

The Vertex Axis as whole is said to be in charge of synchronicity and ‘fated’ events. Most people have a subjective sense of what’s important to them in a ‘fateful’ sort of way, and what is not… Often we assign some type of pivotal meaning to the things that touch our Vertex Axis. But because this is such a subjective thing it’s hard to define in terms of external significance, rather the Vertex Axis gives certain type of internal feeling. The feeling that we’ve found something that resonates with us in a very personal way, something that helps to make some type of important change in direction.

Also…

There is a difference between the Vertex and the Antivertex in meaning. This is an angle pair like the Nodes. Each end has it's separate meaning in relation to the same theme (fateful changes).

The Antivertex (opposite the Vertex) is represents those fated events that we already hope for or fear. A change of direction inspired by the Antivertex transits or synastry usually involves encountering some scenario we already have strong thoughts and feelings about manifesting in our lives. Something that was previously only in our minds comes into our reality. This can be in a good way or a difficult way. For instance, if we always suspected we’d fall in love with a sensitive, brooding type that collects weird art pieces, an Antivertex transit or synastry could bring this dream into reality. Alternatively, if we always had a fear having a certain private secret of ours gossiped about, an Antivertex transit or synastry could potentially fear into reality as well. The Antivertex is associated with uncanny events in our lives where we see dreams or fears from the recesses of our minds popping into our real lives. This can be a really small incident or a melodramatic ordeal, either way you tend to get the feeling that you always knew that this certain thing was going to happen. Kind of like a premonition coming true.

The Vertex is opposite the Antivertex and has an opposite meaning. Fated events associated with the Vertex involves things happening that we never could have envisioned in a million years. Connections to the Vertex in transits and synastry surprise us with unexpected outcomes, and random out-of-the-blue incidents. The Vertex as an angle is where we get introduced to new directions and possibilities that had not occurred to us previously. These things often alter our life path in some way, and cause us to reconsider our position on various issues. I’ll give an example, lets say that a person is a hard core scientist and doesn’t believe in anything metaphysical, then one day they visit their friend who lives in a haunted house and see a spirit. Because this person doesn’t believe in spirits they never expected to actually encounter one, so you can imagine he shock experienced when they do. The Vertex is a jolt of electricity that brings game-changers into our world. As with the Antivertex, these game-changers can be small or large. What’s important is the way they impact our perspective, and how we personally feel about what happened.

To keep it simple, the Antivertex is associated with fated events that seems to have emanated from our very own set of hopes and fears. And the Vertex is associated with fated events that surprise us into looking at life in a new way.

Now for the synastry interp…

If then Vertex is conjunct the MC, then the Antivertex is conjunct the IC.

When the Vertex is conjunct the MC, something about that MC person’s reputation or vocation will open up new possibilities in your mind. Maybe they’ll introduce you to a new interest, or teach you something important about how to maintain a good reputation. Maybe their reputation/job suits you in a way you never expected and changes your perspective on what you want in a partner.

When the Antivertex is conjunct the IC, something about the IC person’s private world or home resonates with your already established wants and desires. They way they conduct themselves in their personal haven gives you what you were looking for, or lives up to your expectations.

If the Vertex is conjunct the IC, then the MC is conjunct the Antivertex. The interpretation for this is simply the reverse of above.

When the Vertex is conjunct the IC, the IC person’s home life/private world may introduce you to a new way of running your home, or a new way of finding at personal security. Their home life/private would may change your taste in an unexpected way, and you may develop a new mental ‘modal’ in your mind of what constitutes an ideal home, an ideal way of running a home.

When the Antivertex is conjunct the MC, the then the person’s way of conducting themselves in public, their reputation, or their career, matches your established taste in a partner. Like you were hoping to meet someone with this type of reputation or job, and now you’ve found someone who gives you what you wished for.

I hope this answered your question, and I hope also that you now understand the Vertex and the Antivertex better.

I feel your pain @ Voix_de_la_Mer, I'm just starting to dive into the angles and the Vx/Avx is especially confusing for me to try to wrap my head around. Agreed: "Soul" and "fate" are too nebulous.

Interestingly enough, I have this aspect with someone too (VX conjunct IC), so this was quite educational

@Lotis White - Wow. Such a thorough description of the Vx/Avx and aspects! This is a great explanation. Thank you!

If you don't mind me butting in here, I asked this question on an earlier thread about geometric patterns in synastry and had no takers. Can you consider the Vx as part of a natal T-Square? I know the orbs are probably too wide, but in my chart it opposes Neptune (3 degrees) and both Neptune and Vx square Jupiter (4 degrees).

I ask because my Vx creates a Grand Cross through synastry with another person (orbs >2 for all aspects). I'm just wondering if this is significant in some way.

Hi
What about "one side interactions" with vertex?.
His leo vertex is opposite my aqua MC, conjuct my 5 house leo chiron, and square my 7 house scorpio pluto.
My vertex doesn´t have any interaction with his planets. Do i feel the same than him? is he the one learning in this relationship?.
