I'd like to know this, too.

I'm sure that it depends on what planets/houses it involves, just the same as a natal YOD. But if it's there it must show something significant.

Perhaps it shows the reason/purpose for two people coming together. Giving a more defined reason than a relationship synastry without one, anyway. Or would that be more for a composite YOD?

The top of the yod is receiving all the energy from the 2 inconjunct planets and the planet on the top needs to release this energy to the midpoint of the 2 inconjunct planets. So if in synastry the yod consists of 4 planets and the release planet is from person 1 and the pressure planet from person 2, they really could work together and feel complete.
Natal yod could feel this release by transits too
