Through reading various threads throughout these boards I consistently see that there are various "items" to consider when looking at synastry. Synastry aspects, house placement, house rulership aspects, examining each natal to see any trends, etc. Despite everything I have read, I cannot figure out why I attract the people that I attract.

I am ONLY Water/Earth placements (however, due to a stellium of planets in an air house, I have a bit of air present in my chart). My natal is made up of only trines, sextiles, and conjunctions.

I am attracted to/attract Fire/Air only platonically and romantically. When I say the latter two, I mean people with Fire/Air dominant in their charts. The men I attract/am attracted to results in a synastry full of squares (which isn't a bad thing) and nothing going on with the houses. Is it that I attract people that contain qualities (elements) that I lack? Is there something that I haven't considered?

Yes. We are attracted to elements we lack. The problem is, we can become overwhelmed...since we don't possess those elements it's like we don't know what to do with their energy. But it's attractive because it's different.
