I believe POSITIVE Sun-Sun contacts in synastry adds an overall since of comfort to the partnership if the rest of the synastry is positive. It provides another form of glue like Saturn except without all the limitations and coldness. It genuinely just feels good.

I'm assuming negative aspects would do the same, but in an unconventional, tense, difficult, kind of way.

Sun/Sun, Moon/Moon, and Sun/Moon aspects are all very significant in synastry. They represent very primal parts of our psychology, and we're moved deeply by those we have close luminary aspects with.

The Moon is our receptive nature and how we seek comfort and security. The Moon shows how we feel most vulnerable, and if someone else touches our Moon with their Sun or Moon, they activate a strong emotional response in us. Moon/Moon tends to be about a shared feeling of belonging and security. The two people care a lot about each other's wellbeing, and there's a profound emotional bond. They nurture each other.

In Sun/Moon aspects the Sun sees the Moon person's vulnerability and receptivity and they long to impress the Moon, and to protect them. The Moon is drawn to the Sun's dynamic charismatic glow (even if the Sun person is usually quiet), and is kind of in awe of them. Again, the bond is strong and the two tend to feel much for each other. The Sun usually takes the lead, while the Moon follows and is protected by the Sun.

The Sun represents our sense of identity and purpose. It shows where and how we feel inspired to create the life we want, and what makes us feel 'alive' like we're being the best we can be. When someone else's Sun or Moon aspects our Sun it activates our core sense of self. We tend to look to the other person for validation. The Sun longs to be appreciated for who they really are. When two Sun's aspect with tight orbs these people can enliven and inspire each other. Sun/Sun aspects are passionate and fun. It feels like the 'heart' of who we really are is finally being recognized and touched (I'm talking about actual aspects here, not just Sun sign comparisons). With hard aspects, even though there can be clashes, each person may also admire the other person's abilities which are different what they have. It's still feels as if the core identity of each person is touched.

Hi Emgem,

I'm talking about all aspects.

In my experience all aspects work. Trines and sextiles are not weak in my view, they just operate with a different type of energy then squares and oppositons aspects. Trines and sextiles promote stability and smooth flow. They allow things to happen easily, because the two or more energies involved agree so much. My 7th house ruler and Venus are in fire signs, and when I get trines and sextiles to these placements I really enjoy it. Soft aspects can have a sort of intensity about them... The phrase 'getting along like a house on fire' comes to mind. It can be such a delight to find someone who fits together with you 'just right'.

Hard aspects stand out more in certain ways just because they tend to be more melodramatic then soft aspects. They create change and make us work hard, where as soft aspects create stability, and allow things to flow to us with ease. Hard aspects have their place in terms of growth and change, but too many is exhausting!

The fact that soft aspects bring stability and ease doesn't make them weak. It just means they make us contented with what we have (in a situation or a relationship). There is definite value to that. Just as there's value to the drive we get from hard aspects to enact change, even if it's a struggle.

I know there are some astrologers out there that barely even consider soft aspects. To me that's crazy! They so obviously work for what they're supposed to do (create ease of flow).

In general I tend to use tight orbs for all aspect types though. I like to see orbs under 3 degrees, even better if the aspect is exact. It's true that aspects at wider orbs can be felt to some extent. But if you really want to get the full intensity of the aspect tighter orbs of under 3 degrees are best. Soft aspects tend to be intense in terms of the joy we feel at connecting with a 'kindred spirit'. They confirm our sentiments about things. Hard aspects tend to be intense in that we learn from the other person as a result of the clashes and contradictions we experience with them. They challenge us st stretch our limits.

I had sun conjunct sun AND moon conjunct moon with one of my exes.

We really got each other, were very similar, in many respects, felt really comfortable together, but there was very little sexual chemistry, which is why the relationship did'nt last.

We were more like best friends , than lovers.

Sun/Sun, and Moon/Moon, are very bonding aspects but they are usually not physical attraction aspects. Sun/Moon aspects can indicate physical attraction however, because it's a yin/yang aspect (a male energy relating to a female energy). If you have Sun/Sun or Moon/Moon in synastry this is great for any type of relationship due to the closeness it brings, only if it's a romantic relationship the physical attraction part would need to be shown elsewhere in the synastry. So you'd check out Venus aspects and/or Mars aspects in the synastry.

Yes sun/sun, moon/moon can feel very friendship like. I've experienced moon/moon conj but also with sun/mars conj, sun/moon/venus trine, moon/mars conj - feels incredibly wonderful to have that intense physical attraction as well as the emotional friendship closeness where we just get one another.
But alas timing is not on our side at the moment... and that's a whole other story progression-wise.

Sounds boring - as it pertains to romance.

Personally, I'd NEVER want to date someone who shared both my Sun & my Moon signs. I want us to be similar, yes...but not be CLONES of one another.

Just something very unusual (apparently per a professional astrologer whom I asked once).....
My Natal Moon Capricorn at 26 degrees, 1st House;
My Boyfriend's Natal Moon Taurus 26 degrees, 1st House;
Our Composite Chart Moon Pisces 26 degrees, 1st House
Sometimes you will find the same or compatible signs, and degrees, with either the same two planets or two different planets, etc. But, rarely will you find the same exact planet in compatible signs, in the exact same degree, and the same house, AND in all three charts including the Composite for a couple.
Has anyone else seen, heard of, or have this in synastry with another?

Welcome to LL!

The composite is a midpoint chart, so if both of your Moons are at 26 degrees, the composite Moon will be at 26 degrees as well. And also given that your Moons are both in the 1st house, the composite Moon will be in the 1st as too.

Sun-Sun aspects are great for friendship so also great for long-term relationship. Once I have looked at all my close friendships and turns out with my closest friends I have either sextile or trines of our Suns. Moon-Moon is much less but for example Moon-axis is ultra powerful. I have it with my cousin, her Moon is on my DSC and it's really awesome for closeness.

With someone else I have his Sun conjunct my ASC and Moon my DSC. Also really great even though who synastry is not so great.
