Is the energy still felt?

Like say, same sign sun/moon or same sign moon/mars but there are no contacts. What happens there?

Me and a friend have the same sun and mercury sign and they don`t aspect each other and we are very different but i think that comes from our different moon signs aswell. I do understand her but i don`t relate to her. Our thinking and outlook on life is very different.
