Could somebody please explain what angle rulers mean in synastry…?

I still don't get it

My ASC is Capricorn, his is VIRGO

Does that mean Saturn/Mercury contacts are necessary or significant?

My MC/IC is Scorpio/Taurus - his is MC/IC Gemini/Sag

How do Planets on the angles play in?

Thank you very much

I don't know for sure. I am learning also. From what I've been reading "rulers" usually refer to the planet that rules the sign of whatever houses you're talking about.

Like if your first house is in Capricorn, Saturn is the planet that rules Capricorn. Maybe your Saturn is not in your first house. So, if you're reading up on something and the astrologer advises that the ruler of your ascendant has some meaning, then you would look to see where that planet was in your chart and how it was being aspected.

So, in your case, Saturn rules your ascendant, as your ascendant is in Capricorn. You'd look to where Saturn was and what other kinds of aspects it makes in your natal chart and with your partner's planets.

Angles and houses are static, they don`t emanate energy, as we say.
The planet that rules the sign at the cusp of a house beomes its "messenger" and carries the meaning, function and energy of that house to other places and connects to other planets.

For example:
The ASC ruler has a lot to say about how you express your identity in very spontaneious instinctive ways (sometimes to the point that people are not even aware of it themselves, though other people sense it right away), so yes, a tight aspect between rulers of the ASC in synastry is VERY significant, it shows that a basic part of your personalities and how you express yourself (without thinking) is in touch with each other.

Ceri, would you consider the rulers of 2 angles conjncting each other forming a tight aspect very significant? 1 deg sextile.

Also, how about the rulers of the ASCs squaring each other in synastry...is this bad news even though they make an aspect?

And one more question Ceri, would you count a 9 deg opposition between the Sun and Jupiter if they're both IC rulers and have sign-house resonance?

Not necessarily, it can also bring the spark that is needed to get things going. Depends on what else they aspect though.

No, I wouldn´t count it, at least not as an aspect, though I would make a mental note of the sign-resonance.

Thanks!

I meant something like this:
angle conjunct angle
angle A ruler sextile angle B ruler

Aaand ruler A is sextile angle B by 4 deg and ruler B is trine angle A by 4 deg.

Thanks a lot, I think I get it better now

Do you have experience with angle rulers conjuncting personal planets?

What would be most favorable in synastry?

The rulers of our Descendants are both conjunct with Venus in our synastry.
Is that a strong aspect…?

My DESC is Cancer -> My Moon is conjunct his Sun/Venus
His DESC is Pisces -> His Neptune is conjunct my Venus
