So I found this website talking about the difference between soulmates and life partners, and what was described for the soulmate connection resonated much with the SN / IC connections, while life partner's descriptions appeared more oriented to NN / MC connections.

It seems my unrequited love was absolutely a soulmate. I thought I had just met your typical guy-next-door. He was rather Cancerian, which connected with my IC, a Gemini sun which connected with my 2nd house (physical passion), but at the same time a very stable person with earth and saturn in him. I am also a 'mixture' lol.
We had similar childhood experiences, instinctively knew what to do to make the other feel good and safe; he stirred in me thoughts and behaviour that I didn't even knew that were possible -like I was a different person when I was with him (not always welcome, though) and there were lessons I learned, and I believe that it is/was an important relationship for him as well.

We had composite Psyque conjunct IC and in synastry the ASC-IC DESC-MC axis conjunction was almost exact. We also had a very tight Venus conjunct Mercury. I think that was a lovely aspect. But we had a composite unaspected Sun and MC, and several Moon, Venus and Saturn aspects.

To some degree that relationship felt a bit like a burden, like I had to please him and, for example, agree to his terms or make him feel great no matter how tiresome it could seem or how unmotivated I felt. And he made me feel jealous, even obssessive about him, which I'd never been like in my life.

So after all this writing about soulmates and me, What do you think of a South Node connection indicating a soulmate and past lifes familiarity versus a new and exciting north node connection which might mean a life partner with which to look at the future? Have you felt both?

I've had both. While intimately involved with a lover whose Scorpio Sun was conjunct my natal South Node on IC, TWO close family members (one my father) passed away, within a 3 week period!

My former fiance's Taurus Sun in my 10th House near Taurus North Node/MC. She was much younger, so lots of future potential together. We sometimes met in natural outdoor environment (large park and palace grounds in city center). We enjoyed picnics and watching wildlife together. And our sex life was phenomenal!

I'm sorry to hear that. *hughs*
Yes, exactly what I meant, NN connections seem like the relationship has some future potential and that's what I like.
