Agree, Ceri, see it can be something like this a Mars/Psyche conjunction in synastry can be about the "knight" that our innermost soul wants (for women) but the Psyche square Saturn and overall harsh aspects in synastry can leave a scare on our "Psyche". Which may be fear for commitment or relationship issues for the next ones?

I actually share an exact TRINE with the musician in synastry. Unfortunately his psyche is RETROGRADE in gemini in the 4th house TRINE my eros direct in aquarius in the 5th house. He also has eros direct in virgo in the 7th house which does not aspect my psyche R in Virgo in the 12th house though we do have an overlay.

In 9th harmonic synastry we have my eros in pisces conjunct his psyche R In Pisces conjunct/square both of our vertex between 1-3 degrees.

I feel that we are soulmates but we are not meant to develop true love together in this lifetime because his psyche is retrograde which tells me that he will continue to find love and never be quite satisified in this lifetime which i can understand because i too have psyche retrograde. i mean that's just what i think about having psyche retrograde is that the person longs for a soulmate yet there is immense fears, psychological trauma, insecurities, and possibly high expectations of oneself and one's psyche being damaged and not being able to fully heal from it which in this case i do understand he can not let himself harmonize with me spitually due to the TRINE we have. anyways i think you once said that soulmate asteroids are a bunch a bull, possibily that's the case, i' m not really not sure how to go about psyche retrograde, just know that my psyche is damaged and i need to heal it within myself.

Here is what I found (within 3 degree orbs):

My Psyche is sextile his Moon and Jupiter, and quintile his Venus.

His Psyche is quintile my Mercury, conjunct my Mars (yikes), sextile my Jupiter and Pluto, trine my Neptune, and square my Chiron.

Long story short, he messed up when he raised me. He made errors in judgment on how he punished and interacted with me which was abusive. I was small and he was big. He was a bully and I self-harmed (beginning at 5 years old) to deal with the anxiety of living under the same roof with him.

It was traumatic to the point where I rejected him as an adult. I told him he didn't matter. I froze him out. THAT wounded him deeply and continues to wound him. He's a Cancer moon. It must be hard for him. I feel bad for him sometimes, but I will never forget how victimized he made me feel. These are things you just can't get over and pretend everything is A-Okay.

The aspects your psyche makes to his chart are nice and not conducive to trauma so in your case the trauma cannot be explained by Psyche unless his Nessus aspects your Psyche and you did not check for Nessus aspects in general including possibly Nessus aspect Dejanira.

Psyche is not typically a trauma related asteroid BUT it is a vulnerable point so if is aspecting Nessus or perhaps Mars or Saturn natally or in synastry specially if is a hard aspect such as the conjunction, square or opposition I could see how it can be indicative of trauma.

I would check the declinations you have in your natal and between the two of you.

Now YOUR Mars on his PSYCHE could mean he felt overwhelmed by your energy and assertiveness making him feel you were too much for him to handle explaining why he reacted very emotionally to disciplining you and did a poor job at it. This in combo with your chiron squaring his Psyche I feel explains how uncomfortable and Vulnerable he felt around you and hence his poor judgement. Your chiron was digging up things from his Psyche he probably wanted to be left alone or if addressed not by a chiron square coming from his little girl.

Your chiron aspecting his Psyche harshly is very intriguing, chiron squares are not fun and can be very uncomfortable; it sounds like you have chiron square mars natally which can indicate irritablility and anger issues, its probably why you dealt with your anger by cutting.

I experienced that aspect in transit and it was awful, it made me feel bad for those that have this aspect natally TIGHTLY as I have that aspect out of sign widely squaring by 8d but when I experienced it in transit exact there was a loooot of anger and pain; mars square chiron is rough.

Well what I explained is at least part of what is leading him to managing your behavior poorly, I would have to see his natal to see if there is more to it as well.
