The following link has several examples of horary charts for love-related questions. It is set up so that you can try to interpret the charts for yourself before seeing the astrologer's verdict and the outcome of the situation. It's fun

I've copy and pasted the main text from the page. Would be interested to hear your experiences with horary questions regarding love and romance and stuff.

There's no denying that in horary, as in all forms of astrology, relationship questions form a large percentage of client work. 'Will I marry?', 'will I divorce?', 'is my partner seeing someone else?', 'will I see someone else?', 'is this relationship going to work for me?' - all of these are familiar questions to the horary practitioner.

As usual, the querent is represented by the 1st house, its ruler and the Moon. Opposite numbers of any kind (be they business or emotional, or whether the relationship is based on love or war), are shown by the 7th house and its ruler. Any planets in these houses should also be considered as co-significators, especially if located near the cusps. They often furnish important physical descriptions or represent notable characteristics.

Besides the main significators, Lilly tells us to consider the Sun as a general significator for the man and Venus as a general significator for the woman. Some texts, such as the 16th century work of Dariot, also advise using the planet from which the Moon has last separated as a co-significator for the querent and the planet to which she next applies as a co-significator for the quesited. Any friendly aspect or unfriendly connection between these two is then said to reflect upon the relationship of the lovers.

The 5th house - the 'joy' of Venus - is often called the house of 'love affairs' for it has a traditional association with pleasure, delight, love and gifts. Finding the Moon or a main significator in the 5th may suggest a heightened passion or pleasure in the relationship, but does not always bode well for long term commitments.

The main considerations in relationship questions are as follows:
A good aspect between ruler of the 1st house and ruler of the 7th shows a willingness to form a union. Application by trine or sextile is very promising, especially when there is reception between the planets. If there is no applying aspect between the two, translation or collection of lightcan achieve the same result and often symbolises the assistance of a third party (more so when the Moon is in the 10th house).

If the application or translation is by square or opposition with reception, a relationship is feasible but the situation is difficult and there will be obstacles to overcome. Without reception this kind of aspect seldom promises a good result.

An application from the Sun or Moon to Venus, if both are well placed and strong in essential dignities, indicates the relationship will develop.

The matter is most promising when the significators are in water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces), or in the dignities of Venus.

The 1st house ruler in the 7th suggests the querent is the more ardent of the two. Conversely, the 7th house ruler in the 1st shows the quesited to be most keen.

If the 7th ruler is located in the 7th house, the person asked about has little thought of the querent, especially if exalted or in its own sign.

The fastest moving planet usually indicates the fonder of the two - the one most inclined to develop the relationship.

No application, translation or collection - no relationship. Also, if the application is frustrated by the interception of another planet, or by one of the significators turning retrograde, the relationship will be broken off or hindered by a person or situation symbolised by the interposing planet.

Uranus is the natural significator of excitability, division, divorce and separation; Mars, disagreement, conflict and violence; Neptune, deceit, confusion and self-deception.

The Moon is the natural significator of wives; Venus sweethearts; Mars young men; Sun men of confidence; Saturn mature or older men - the 'father figure'."

How do we do a horary chart? I have really no idea, I' m really new! The only thing I know about horary charts are FMC. But if we want to ask a question, how do we use it? I read the link, but I didn't quite understand :/

So to cast a horary chart you need to have a well formulated question. The conception of the question is said to be the moment you start mulling over what to ask, the gestation of the question is the time spent pondering, and the birth of the question is the moment you ask it or write it down--this is the moment for which a horary chart is cast. Many astrologers will cast a chart for the moment they sit down to tackle the inquiry... it's basically whenever you look at a clock with the question in mind and know you're about to cast a chart.

Once you have the chart for the moment, you look at it from the angle of the question being asked.

Say you've asked a question about your cousin's dog. Specifically:is my cousin's dog going to recover? We use assigned houses extensively in horary. For your cousin we take the 3rd house and it's ruler (3rd rules siblings and cousins). For your cousin's dog we take the 6th from the 3rd: the 8th house. Because the 6th represents pets eh?

And we go from there. How is the ruler of the 6th doing? Is it in dignity, fall, detriment? Is it aligned with any beneficial planets, or conversely is it situated in the 11th house and squared by Mars-Uranus, indicating a sudden episode, possibly surgery, which ends badly (the 11th is 4th from the 8th).

ok i chose a really bad complicated example. I'm sorry! I'll try to find a helpful link.

Horary is basically asking a question, casting a chart for the time the question was asked, and deriving a great deal of meaning and information from the aspects and placements of the planets ruling the relevant elements of the query.

Thank you very much!!! I tried it once, but I guess all these sound really complicated for me! I get all these stuff about the relationship between the ruler of the 1st and the 7th and i.e. the querent being the first house, but then I get confused! I can't translate it! I will try it again when I get to a higher level in astrology!
Again, thanks for the interesting information!

I wish I could give better examples. I'm sure you can figure it out! I found the list of examples in this link really useful and fun to practise on.

No, it' not your fault! I read some things about horary just a while ago, but I really dont get it, it seems to me they have a whole other bunch of rules! Plus, I know nothing about dignities..I can't quite grasp the meaning of them. Yes, I know for instance Venus is exalted in Pisces (I don't even know if its a good example!), but I really can't quite feel the role it plays. Probably I have to study more!

There's a separate forum for horaries, even those related to love. Most of the questions asked are about love. You can find many questions there and people tried their best to give interpretations. You can also contribute, if you'd like.
