Yes, your friend may be right, as there are aspects that indicate a "karmic" connection, it's what I have read actually. A lot of his planets fall in your 12th house and this is considered a house that has to do with karma! Plus his sun conjuncts your north node, as I mentioned earlier and this may be the bond that you feel! Connections to the nodes are very strong!
If this feeling that you describe is rather strong, it possibly isn't due to you both being virgos! This isn't enough lol!

Especially his stellium in your 12th house cannot be insignificant! But you may need help from someone more experienced than me! I would say that with both of you having so much planets in your 12th house, this may be similar as if your unconsious are linked! That's how I understand it anyway!

I meant that this connection might mean similar unconscious minds!! I haven't read it anywhere, it is just my intuitive interpretation of the 12th house connection that you have in your synastry!

What we can know for his side is what the planetary aspects tell us.
But we cannot see aspects to his ascendant and moon, which are important. Plus we can't see where your planets fall in his chart, in which houses I mean.
That's why birthtime is so essential and I know it is very irritating not having the birthtime
