I can be obsessive about things, it's not often a man but when it is I think about the him obsessively. It can be an interest, activity or subject that I research endlessly, sometimes I'll move onto something else. Are there any aspects in my natal chart that might explain this? Yeah it's a Pluto-Mercury thing--obsessive thoughts. Especially with the opposition it's likely to be things "outside" yourself--research topics... a man. I have the conjunction in Scorpio in the 1st (and a sextile to Moon-Neptune meaning i can get kinda obsessive and really give in to addictions... cough*astrology*cough.. Internet... relationships... the rest of the chart shows areas of interest) .... I have a friend with the square and I mentioned obsessive thoughts to her and she was like "omg i was just telling my therapist that exact thing the other day. My thoughts definitely get obsessive." --and not always in an easy way. Things take on a certain intensity and it's very hard to break out of it with Pluto Mercury. It's a way of life Tis almost surely the Pluto-Mercury. IP: Logged |

regarding pluto aspects, i have it sextile my moon and neptune, and trine ascendant, but i'm not really sure if its the real reason of my obsessive thoughts and my need to make everything "in order", i think for me it's more due to my virgo moon (which is trine neptune and sextile pluto)IP: Logged |

Pluto in aspect to Mercury specifically can give rise to obsession. Not every Pluto aspect, especially not soft ones...IP: Logged |

Thanks yungang I thought Pluto with Venus or Moon would be more obsessive than Pluto Mercury. Maybe Pluto Mercury is sometimes overlooked in favour of the more infamous Pluto Venus aspects. I also have Pluto Venus but you can see from chart the orb is much wider at 7. These aspects sit along side my MC/DC axis though so is that contributing? I don't have any other major aspects to Pluto to cause me to be obsessive. Would you say I'm more Venusian than Plutonian? Fiola - I'd say moon pluto is going to play a part, not a small part. Even as a sextile those two planets in aspect will usually be significant. Maybe obsession more to do with the emotions as it's the moon involved. Stillatlarge - a conjunction is going to be pretty loud in my opinion I would say. As always I think orbs matter and a bigger orb can count for conjunctions and where it's luminaries IP: Logged |

I would say your Mercury/Pluto and Venus/Pluto oppositions are the reason.Your Mercury (thoughts, communication)/Venus (love, romance) conjunction in Aries is already pretty intense. Since your Mercury/Venus in Aries also forms an opposition (a negative aspect) with your Pluto in Libra (Libra is the sign of relationships) it can very well be the reason of your obsessive tendencies. Thanks everyoneI agree it must be the Mercury pluto. I didn't appreciate it could be quite such an obsessive aspect. You read about moon pluto and venus pluto but not so much about Mercury pluto. One of my best friends has moon conjunct pluto exactly but in comparison to me, she's not obsessive in the slightest, not with men, interests or anything! IP: Logged |

hi Littleh, i am moon conjunct pluto and trine mercury) and i can confirm these aspects really bring obsessive thoughts and behaviour. and as in case with your friend it may not be very obvious from aside. but growing older i start to realize that what usually is called Pluto's obsession is more a capacity to penetrate very deep into your own dimension and dimension of other people. and going there Pluto does it's work. and sometimes this work takes time to destroy and purify, concentrating on objects. after the work is done Pluto continues to explore further)) until gets stuck or "obsessed" again with some other limitation which he seeks to eliminate IP: Logged |

Thanks for your input Ihanze, it's strange she's not more plutonic, I've known her closely 23 years and her boyfriends but she's not obsessive with guys, not like I am. Maybe you're right and she hides it well or ive just never noticed before! Maybe my Merc opposite Pluto just affects me more than her Moon conjunct Pluto. Your description in the final paragraph sounds like how I am at work!
